00:02Senator Maggie Hassan has asked Capital One for documents related to an internal
00:07anti-money laundering review that the banks had led it to close accounts linked to Trump
00:11and his businesses, according to Reuters. The New Hampshire Democrat requested details about
00:16transactions, alerts, and other factors that triggered the review, along with communications
00:22with regulators or law enforcement. The Trump Organization and Eric Trump sued Capital One
00:29in March 2025, alleging the bank's 2021 closure of hundreds of affiliated accounts was politically
00:37motivated. Capital One has denied acting on political grounds and said its anti-money laundering team
00:43conducted the review under bank policies and regulatory guidance. Capital One declined to
00:48comment, while the White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Hassan said the
00:53information is needed for congressional oversight of the account closures.
