00:02Southwest Airlines plans to open airport lounges in Austin, Baltimore, Nashville, and Honolulu
00:09as part of a push into premium travel, according to the Wall Street Journal.
00:13The airline is partnering with JPMorgan Chase, which will issue a new high-end Southwest credit
00:19card that will provide primary access to the lounges. Construction is underway. With the
00:25first lounge expected to open in late 2027, Southwest eventually plans a network of at
00:30least 11 lounges. Southwest said the lounges will feature signature bars, chef-inspired meals,
00:36and upscale finishes as the carrier expands premium offerings. Airlines and credit card companies
00:42are expanding airport lounges to meet demand while strengthening customer loyalty and driving sign-ups
00:47for high-fee credit cards. JPMorgan will bring experience from its Chase Sapphire lounges to
00:53help Southwest create a comparable upscale experience with Southwest branding.
