00:08Starting with the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League, TKR's chances of making the playoffs are getting slimmer and slimmer after
00:16their eight-run defeat to the Antigua and Barbuda Falcons on Wednesday night at the Queen's Park Oval.

03:22The Knight Riders lost 4 out of 5 home games, with the last one coming against Antigua and Barbuda Falcons
03:29by 8 runs on Wednesday night.
03:31Despite having a small chance of making the playoffs, Captain Nicholas Puran spoke as though it was already over.
03:37It wasn't meant to beat us here.
03:40We were by far very poor in this competition and that's something we have to accept from a seam bowling
03:45department.
03:47Our seam spinners not being able to get wickets for us.
03:50We can take care of business here in the Oval, especially with conditions where wet outfield didn't play a part
03:56for us.
03:57And all these factors played a part.
03:59But in all, no excuses.
04:01We wasn't good enough this year.
04:02But he was reminded that the Knight Riders had a mathematical chance of defending their title.
04:06And with that, he said his team was going to fight till the end.
04:10For me personally, it's all about the opportunity to play this game and continue to get better as players.
04:15I'm going to learn from the experience.
04:17I'm going to get mentally stronger as well, especially when things are not going anywhere.
04:22There's a lot of positives we can gain from the last couple of games.
04:25You have a lot to play for as well.
04:27Mathematically, there's still a chance.
04:28And hopefully once you can get better as a team and get a couple of results, you never know with
04:31this game.
04:32But the fans have been special once more again here in the Queen's Dark Oval.

04:56I think the character we showed throughout the game, actually, from the start.
05:01I thought Rakeem started unbelievably well, obviously.
05:03And then just without batting, Nawaz is struggling a bit with form, but he was amazing tonight.
05:09Great knock.
05:10Just the character, even in the field, it was tough conditions in the end with a bit of dew.
05:14But we stuck in there.
05:15It looked like the game was going away from us and Pali was in.
05:18But we still believed that we could win the game.
05:20The Falcons want more success in their final match against Ghana-Amazon Warriors.
05:25Having lost to them before, Ali respects his opponents.
05:29Yeah, I guess Guyana, very, very good side.
05:31That's the one team that, you know, they beat us badly.
05:33And we want to try and come in the top two now and then have one game to the final.
05:39So that's the dream and the aim.
05:41So we want to keep winning, want to keep playing well and performing and get the guys going well.
05:45I thought Springer again and Joshua outstanding again at the death.
05:48The Falcons play the Amazon Warriors on September 8th, whereas the Knight Riders next play Barbados Tridents on Saturday.

09:29I am confident that they will win the CPL 2026, all the way from St. Vincent,

09:38I like Rakim Cornwall, Fabian Allen, Evan Lewis, Shama Springer, Jaden Seals,
09:46the entire team, the entire Antigua Falcons. That's my team.

09:58And seeing that one from St. Vincent, that's my home franchise.
10:01Are you confident that TKR can win the three matches that are remaining in their group stage?
10:06I can't say for the three matches, but this game tonight, not for them to knock out, I'm confident of

10:11And as far as the teams, the players, are there any players you like on the TKR team?
10:16Well, Mr. Polar is one, Mr. Narayan is one. Those two.

10:28Yeah, the welcome that you get here in the Trinidad and Tobago media community is always fantastic.
10:32I'm really lucky that over the last decade I've built some really good friendships with people.
10:36And I always feel hugely welcome.
10:38It's always very flattering when I don't make it to Trinidad,
10:40when people tell me that they would like me to be here, which is fantastic.
10:43But yeah, the leg itself has been great.
10:45You know, we've had sold-out matches and good attendances at all five games.
10:49I think three games sold out, two games have been very, very well attended,
10:52which is obviously fantastic.
10:54Dana Hussain, who's the media center coordinator for TKR, too, could not be left out.
10:59She just completed 10 years assisting the media and others involved with the CPL.

12:20I am a TKR supporter tonight because I am here, but I'm not usually a cricket fan.
12:26We won tickets with the public bank, so we came tonight to support the TKR.
12:31Is this your first time at the Oval?
12:32No, it's not the first time at the Oval, but it's been nine years since I've seen 2020 match.
12:38So I'm very excited.
12:40Have a good one.
12:47We also caught up with this gentleman, Aaron Phillip, who was doing what many wouldn't dare.
12:52And where did he learn that?
12:57I really enjoyed it because it's keeping the culture alive and really breathing life into
13:06carnival and mass and the air all around.
13:10And at the CPL, how do you enjoy doing it?
13:12Oh, I love the CPL.

13:16And I'm having a lot of fun every single year that we're here.

16:40Then comes a silky smooth drive from TKR batter Alex Hales.

17:17Meanwhile, preparations are underway for the CPL home leg for Barbados Tridents as they get up to face TKR.
17:25Before a ball is even bowled at Kensington Oval, the excitement of CPL cricket coming to town
17:30has reflected in steady ticket sales as the Barbados Tridents gear up for their home leg of the competition starting
17:37on Saturday.
17:38Barbados versus Trinidad and Tobago has always been a keen battle, and franchise cricket is no different.
17:45John Mumby is the CEO of the Tridents as they get up to face TKR.
17:50As a franchise, we're delighted to be coming back to Barbados.
17:53Both our men's and women's teams are coming home, which we're really excited for.
17:57We're going to have eight games in an action-packed nine days at the Kensington Oval.
18:02So we're looking forward to the stadium being loud and proud in the weeks to come.
18:06The camp is sort of overwhelmingly positive.
18:09I know it's been tough.
18:10And the nature of the CPL, where you have a lot of tough games on the road, can be tricky.
18:15But we're coming home with two wins on the road, which we'd have liked more.
18:20But it's probably about a par start, I would say.
18:22So we're looking for home team momentum to really carry us home.
18:26And for the Kensington Oval to be our 12th player for both our men and our women over the weeks
18:30to come.
18:31Minister of Sports Charles Griffith is encouraging Barbados to come out and support the team in their numbers
18:36during this critical passage of the competition.
18:39The rebranding is clearly in keeping with what is Beijing.
18:43And I think that this is important.
18:45From a tourism perspective, sports tourism, then this is important.
18:50I'm expecting that over the next couple of days when we are playing here that the stands will be filled,
18:55that people will bring their family to the Mecca to ensure that we have, as John was saying,
19:00a loud and proud event here.
19:03Home drums must be first for these next couple of games.
19:06And hence the reason why I'm asking Barbados to come out and support.
19:10Because if you're supporting, then the guys outside in the field feel as if, you know,
19:15they're playing for something, they're playing for country.
19:17The women's CPL also balls off on Saturday with the defending champions Barbados Tridents seeking their fourth straight title.
19:25The Barbados Tridents women are going for an unprecedented four-peat in the WCPL, which is incredibly exciting.
19:31Of course, coming back to home soil for the first time in several years.
19:35And led by the world's number one all-rounder, Hayley Matthews, again an incredible ambassador for Barbados,
19:41both as a person and as an athlete.
19:42So from a franchise perspective, we're incredibly excited.
19:46The women play in three blockbuster doubleheaders against other nations.
19:49So Saturday the 5th, a doubleheader for our women and men against the Trimbago Knight Riders.
19:54Saturday the 12th against the newly formed Jamaica Empress and Kingsmen for both our men and women.
19:59And then on Sunday the 13th, Guyana Ambers and Warriors.
20:02That's going to be a big day for both our men and women.
20:04So we're really excited to have both our male and female teams returning home.
