From cringe-worthy CGI to baffling plot twists, the MCU has had its fair share of facepalm moments. Join us as we count down the most disastrous scenes and decisions that shook Marvel's mega-franchise to its core! Which moment do YOU think hurt the MCU the most? Let us know in the comments below!
Transcript
00:03Welcome to WatchMojo, and today we're counting down art picks for the MCU moments that messed
00:10this mega franchise up. Trust us, we heard you loud and clear. There were so many comments
00:15on our top 20 list, we knew we had to make this one longer. As always, we'll be diving
00:19into spoilers for various MCU movies and shows, so consider this your warning.
00:2730. Frank's Fall – The Punisher – One Last Kill After a hiatus, fans were eager to see
00:33another project with Frank Castle front and center. While One Last Kill received decent
00:38praise, it also got scrutiny for one short clip. As The Punisher escapes a swarm of thugs
00:44trying to kill him for cash, he awkwardly falls onto an AC unit. Viewers caught that Jon Bernthal's
00:49face was poorly placed onto a stunt double, and that got the moment mocked by the internet
00:54for a day or two. The moment of impact was immediately picked apart, and fans called Marvel out for
00:59its awful CGI.
01:02Guess what, guys? 90% of what you saw is actual real footage.
01:06Frank's body looked something like straight out of an early 2000s GTA game. It goes to show
01:11that bad CGI can seriously take the wind out of an IP.
01:1929. Killing off Taskmaster so early – Thunderbolts
01:23From day one, fans were disappointed by how Taskmaster was handled. But there was hope Marvel
01:28would do right by its audience. But the marketing and build-ups with Thunderbolts made it clear
01:34that Taskmaster was getting the short end of the stick. Sure enough, that's what happened.
01:39She had barely any screen time before she was killed off unceremoniously by ghosts. Seriously?
01:4430. Taskmaster wasn't a fan favorite, but she never got the chance to become one either.
01:53Instead, she was treated like cannon fodder and fed to the wolves. A common complaint of
01:58the MCU is that it's had trouble establishing new iconic heroes, and burials like this are
02:02part of the problem. For a movie that's all about giving people second chances, Taskmaster
02:07never got hers.
02:1328. Loki and Sylvie Falling in Love
02:15Loki Self-love is a great idea. But falling in love with a gender-bent multiversal
02:21variant of yourself, uh, okay. Look, Loki and Sylvie's brief romance was strange. While
02:38not everyone hated the idea, it rattled most people's brains.
02:41I just need a second to get my head straight, okay?
02:44Sure.
02:44Honestly, Loki and Mobius could've been a cooler pairing since they had more chemistry.
02:49Plus, no matter what way you want to slice it, self-sess is a bit hard to look past.
02:54The MCU made bold decisions, but this choice didn't pay off. Instead of building up the
02:58god of trickery's legend, they almost sideline him with an unnecessary love story. Loki and
03:03Sylvie's relationship was a mixed bag. Thankfully, Loki's season 2 largely dropped the romance,
03:08cementing the show as an all-timer afterwards. But still, this was weird.
03:1827. Star-Lord Attacking Thanos
03:21As the Avengers and the Guardians battle Thanos on Titan, the heroes actually do a pretty good
03:26job of fighting. In fact, at one point, they're even close to getting the Infinity Gauntlet away
03:31from Thanos. Unfortunately, it slips that Thanos killed his adoptive daughter Gamora and this
03:36sets Star-Lord over the edge.
03:50He loses control and attacks Thanos, which allows him to regain his footing and defeat the heroes.
03:56This is one incredibly unique entry because it isn't a subjective opinion that this ruined the MCU.
04:01It's actually an objective truth.
04:07Star-Lord's rage gave Thanos the chance to recover and then wipe out half of the universe. Yikes!
04:13From a serious story standpoint, Peter Quill's actions legitimately doomed the MCU.
04:23Number 26. Turning Sharon Carter evil, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
04:27At one point, Sharon Carter was Captain America's new love interest and had a decent role in his movies.
04:32Thank you, but I already have a load in downstairs and you really don't want my scrubs in your machine.
04:39I just finished a rotation in the infectious disease ward.
04:42Ah, well, I'll keep my distance.
04:45Hopefully not too far.
04:46Fast forward a few phases and she's suddenly a villain in a Disney Plus show and Captain America is dating
04:52her aunt again.
04:53Wait, how did we get here?
04:54Falcon and the Winter Soldier established a dangerous arms dealer called the Power Broker.
04:58Then the finale revealed it was Sharon.
05:09The show ended by teasing she would continue building her criminal network, but we still haven't seen her since.
05:15Why would Marvel abruptly turn her evil then abandon her story?
05:19Sharon felt betrayed, so she had somewhat compelling motives, but she wasn't given a chance to develop into a proper
05:25villain.
05:25And honestly, who knows if she ever will?
05:28Should be something for everyone.
05:29The MCU's not the only thing we like to call out.

05:43I took you in, gave you an opportunity, then you betrayed me.
05:5025.
05:51Shoehorn against Scar
05:52She-Hulk Attorney at Law
05:53Oh boy, where do we start with this one?
05:55She-Hulk was a divisive show, but whether you loved it or hated it, it's safe to say that both
06:00camps universally despised Scar's debut.
06:03I have someone here that I'd like you all to meet.
06:06This is my son, Scar.
06:09Hulk's son was poorly crammed into this show, and all anyone could focus on was his terrible design.
06:15Whew, that CGI is rough.
06:17Forget Thanos or Doctor Doom, the MCU's real big bad is the barber who gave Scar that atrocious haircut.
06:23Scar's actually an awesome character in the comics, but here he's stuck in major aura dead.
06:28His clumsy MCU introduction not only ruined this cool character, but it also saddled the Hulk with even more unnecessary
06:35baggage.
06:36If Emil Blonsky wasn't also in this show, we'd call Scar the real abomination.
06:4824.
06:50Venom's Abrupt Exit
06:51Spider- No Way Home
06:52It's not entirely the MCU's fault for the direction Venom's gone, since he's a Sony film property.
06:58But when he briefly joined the MCU, it seemed like he would finally meet Spider-Man.
07:03Fans expecting the long-awaited cinematic clash were disappointed though.
07:06In reality, Eddie Brock just had a quick post-credit in No Way Home.
07:10There was a billionaire, he had a tin suit, and he could fly, right?
07:15Hmm, okay.
07:17And it was a really angry green man.
07:19He not only had no scenes with Spider-Man, but he also got teleported back to his home universe.
07:24The MCU had an opportunity to give fans Spider-Man vs. Venom, and they willingly chose not to deliver.
07:30Maybe I should go to New York and speak to this Spider-Man.
07:35Sure, No Way Home was crowded as it was, but really?
07:39Talk about a missed opportunity.
07:40And there he goes.
07:42Without paying the bill, no tips, nothing.
07:4923.
07:51Natasha Calling Herself a Monster
07:52Avengers Age of Voltron
07:53The romance angle between Black Widow and Bruce Banner was an unexpected yet interesting subplot, but there were some severe
07:59missteps.
08:05In a scene between them, Natasha talks about her past, revealing she can't have kids due to an operation done
08:10on her during her spy training.
08:12She likened her situation to being a monster and yeah, that's not great.
08:16You still think you're the only monster on the team?
08:19Natasha's infertility doesn't make her a monster.
08:22If anything, being vulnerable and telling the truth proves that she's human.
08:25Unfortunately, sometimes dialogue doesn't land, and this is an example.
08:30Even though it wasn't intentional, the line came across as incredibly insensitive.
08:34Black Widow had a great stint in the MCU, but this awkward blunder remains a bit of an undeniable low
08:39point.
08:4022.
08:41The Leader's Pointless Post Credit
08:43Captain America, Brave New World
08:45Post credits used to be brilliant teases for what our heroes were going to face next, and most importantly, they
08:50felt purposeful.
08:57Those glory days are largely gone now, though. Just look at this dreadful post credit from Brave New World.
09:03It's Samuel Stearns rattling off nonsense about the multiverse and an impeding threat on the horizon. Huh?
09:09You ought to know what's funny. I'm not in a mood for your jokes.
09:12Eagle-eyed viewers know this is a tease for Doomsday and Secret Wars, but does this scene really fit a
09:18Captain America movie?
09:19Nothing in the film had anything about the multiverse, so why shove that storyline into here?
09:23It's an uninspired attempt to drum up interest for the next Avengers movie and nothing else.
09:28Many fans consider this the MCU's worst post credit, and it's hard to argue against that.
09:32All you heroes protecting this world, do you think you're the only ones? Do you think this is the only
09:41world? We'll see what happens when you have to protect this place from the others.
09:49Number 21, The Final Skrull Showdown, Secret Invasion
09:53It's no secret that Secret Invasion was a dud. From controversial opening credits to puzzling plot twists, this Skrull-centered
10:00series did legitimate brand damage to the MCU.
10:02You? You were the youngest Skrull on my team. I felt responsible for you.
10:11Of the entire show, the worst offense has got to be the finale's anticlimactic battle between Gaia and Gravik.
10:17Both are super Skrulls, and both are super boring to watch.
10:25The CGI is poorly done, and the dull fight is just both of them doing ult spams like they're trapped
10:31in Marvel rivals.
10:31It might sound harsh, but this was all style and no substance.
10:35On paper, Gaia should be one of MCU's most powerful characters, but an underwhelming show and soulless fight scene later,
10:42she's just a footnote in a grand scheme of things.
10:45You're just like your father. Just like them.
10:51Number 20, Yelena's Wonky CGI, Black Widow
10:55Marvel has gotten plenty of flack in recent years for its, at times, poor CGI.
11:00And one of its worst offenders has to be this moment with Yelena.
11:04Moments before successfully destroying a helicarrier turbine, she stands tall ready to risk her life.
11:09Don't do it! This was fun!
11:12Except, it's pretty painfully obvious that the environment she's in isn't real, and that she's just in front of a
11:19green screen.
11:20Needless to say, it kinda kills the tension.
11:28Plus, the explosion after the turbine blows up doesn't look too great either.
11:32Look at those flames and you can tell something's off.
11:35This was hardly a nail in the coffin for the MCU, but it did prove that Marvel's VFX skills were
11:40a shadow of their former self.
11:48Number 19, Steve Kissin' Sharon, Captain America Civil War
11:53Relationships can be tricky, especially if you're Steve Rogers.
11:57On the surface, there doesn't seem like there's anything wrong with Captain America sharing a romantic kiss with Sharon Carter.
12:06However, once you realize that she's the great-niece of Steve's old WWII love Peggy Carter, it makes this dynamic
12:13a little problematic.
12:14And this kiss is even weirder now since in Endgame, Captain America went back in time and rewrote history to
12:21grow old with Peggy.
12:22Which we already mentioned earlier.
12:29Yeah, this is probably the definition of messy.
12:32While some weren't bothered by the Steve and Sharon romance, it was still overall a divisive decision from the MCU.
12:38Ultimately, it's probably best that Captain America not romantically pursue too many members of the Carter family.
12:44Thanks for walking me back.
12:46Sure.
12:47Number 18, Smart Hulk's Debut Avengers Endgame
12:51The Incredible Hulk was once a monster of unstoppable rage.
12:55So what happened?
12:56Well, somewhere along the way, the MCU decided to try something different by making Hulk smart.
13:01It arguably didn't pay off.
13:03The second we saw him just hanging out in a diner and chatting like it was nothing, we knew something
13:08was seriously wrong.
13:09I put the brains and the brawn together and now look at me. Best of both worlds.
13:16By making Hulk essentially just Bruce Banner all of the time, it made the character boring.
13:20What makes things worse is that ever since Endgame, he's been drafted to the sidelines and arguably hasn't done anything
13:27of value.
13:27Either it's all a joke or none of it is.
13:30Sorry, but smart Hulk was a pretty dumb decision.
13:33Hopefully the Hulk can bounce back, otherwise he might fade into irrelevancy.
13:36It's like I was made for this.
13:42Number 17, Jane Absorbing the Aether, Thor The Dark World
13:46When Jane gets a power up in the form of the magical substance called the Aether, it poses quite a
13:51few problems for her.
13:52The most obvious is that it's slowly killing her, but it also has the side effect of dampening her as
13:57a character.
14:03By becoming infected with the Aether, it turns Jane into a living MacGuffin for the bad guys to hunt.
14:08Instead of being her own person, she's now a damsel in distress.
14:12Being relegated to a tired trope like this is hardly a satisfying outcome to say the least.
14:16I'm not hungry.
14:20Good, let's go.
14:21On the bright side, Jane eventually became her own hero as the mighty Thor.
14:25But that doesn't change the fact that her role in the Dark World was ultimately pretty lackluster.
14:31We kind of committed treason on our way out.
14:34Number 16, Fastos Claiming Responsibility for the Atomic Bomb The Eternals
14:39Chloe Zhao's interpretation of the Eternals was a creative misfire.
14:43One of the reasons for the poor reception definitely has to be connected to Fastos.
14:47This particular Eternal is revealed to have helped humanity develop into technological titans.
14:53However, Fastos is later tormented by his actions due to the destruction that was caused by the atomic bomb.
14:58I did this if my technology hadn't helped them advance.
15:04In fact, he basically considers himself solely responsible for the carnage that followed.
15:08Shifting all the blame from a real-life figure like Oppenheimer onto a fictional character is already strange.
15:15They're not worth saving.
15:16But what makes it worse is the MCU basically saying one of their few LGBT heroes caused the death of
15:22millions.
15:23Yeah, maybe the MCU should have thought that through.
15:26Yeah, incredibly natural, guys.
15:29Number 15, Darcy Lewis having a kid with Howard the Duck.
15:33What if?
15:34Remember how we said earlier that relationships can be tricky?
15:37Well, occasionally, some relationships can feel like a crime against humanity.
15:41Sorry, but that's really all we can think of in regards to this particular situation.
15:45Will you look at us nesting?
15:47In an episode of What If?
15:49Darcy Lewis not only falls in love with Howard the Duck, but also has a baby with him.
15:54Yep, you heard that right.
15:56Howard, it's our baby!
15:58Or it will be, right?
16:00Calling this relationship bizarre isn't enough to paint a picture about how strange this thing is.
16:05It raises a whole bunch of questions that, quite frankly, we're too afraid to ask.
16:09Is this really a ship that any MCU fan can honestly say they're rooting for?
16:13Seriously.
16:14What the Duck was in the water that these writers were drinking?
16:17And parents are the greatest heroes of all.
16:22Number 14, Sympathizing the Wrong Crowd, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
16:27Oftentimes, movies and TV shows like to make villains redeemable.
16:31While it's important to give the bad guys understandable motives, it's also important
16:35to reaffirm that they're not good people.
16:37At the tail end of Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Sam Wilson tries to suggest that the Flag Smashers
16:42were simply misunderstood.
16:43The terrorists only set us back a bit.
16:46You have to stop calling them terrorists.
16:47Considering that they were basically a terrorist group during the whole show, it's a little
16:51hard to buy what kept selling.
16:53The whole scene just came across as clunky and heavy-handed.
16:56The only power I have is that I believe we can do better.
17:01Are we really supposed to feel bad for Carly and the rest of the Flag Smashers after all
17:06of the deaths they caused?
17:07Their actions are inexcusable.
17:09This all goes to show how sympathetic villains require time and dedication, not a bunch of
17:14sloppy shortcuts.
17:15You've got to do better, Senator.
17:17You've got to step up.
17:19Because if you don't, the next Carly will.
17:21And you don't want to see 2.0.
17:23Number 13, How Nick Fury Actually Lost His Eye, Captain Marvel.
17:28There are a lot of cool ways that Nick Fury could have lost his eye in the MCU.
17:32Unfortunately, the actual way it happened wasn't one of them.
17:35In Captain Marvel, we see an alien cat named Goose scratch Nick Fury in the eye, which would
17:40lead to him getting his iconic eye patch.
17:45It's a bit of a letdown to have a cat be the reason that Fury lost his eye, especially
17:49since before this, the MCU made it seem like he lost it in some grand spectacular way.
17:53Last time I trusted someone, I lost an eye.
17:56It's another frustrating example of Marvel leaning into unnecessary gags while undoing the
18:01impact of plot points because of it.
18:03Our word of advice for the MCU?
18:05Less force comedy.
18:06How's your ride?
18:07It's my turn.
18:07Mmm, getting better every second.
18:09Number 12, King's Defeat, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Quantumania.
18:13Way before Jonathan Majors wound up in controversy, the writing was on the wall for King the Conqueror
18:18either way.
18:19That's because during the climatic showdown of Quantumania between him and Ant-Man, King
18:24fell victim to the biggest threat of all, Ant-Man and the Wasp.
18:30Look, even if you never liked King the Conqueror, you can't deny that the character was done
18:35dirty here.
18:35The fact that Marvel also has yet to recast him means that our last impression of him
18:39is an incredibly sour one.
18:45This was meant to be one of the MCU's next big bads, but instead he went out like a jobber.
18:50And even if King does return, this humiliating defeat will never be forgotten.
19:02Number 11, Taskmaster's Identity, Black Widow.
19:05Taskmaster has never been Marvel's main character or anything, but he's had his fans.
19:10So when Taskmaster finally debuted in the MCU and it wasn't Anthony Masters, it ruffled
19:16a lot of feathers.
19:23Beyond the identity change, the new character just didn't have anything going for her.
19:27She wasn't witty or exciting like Taskmaster was in the comics.
19:30Instead, Antonia was just a generic mean looking villain.
19:37And the real kicker is that even if you're willing to give this new version of Taskmaster
19:41a chance, the MCU clearly wasn't considering what happened to her in Thunderbolts.
19:50Number 10, Ross and Valentina's Entire Subplot, Black Panther, Wakanda Forever.
19:56With tragedy looming over the production, Ryan Coogler delivered a worthy follow-up to his
20:01Oscar-winning Game Changer.
20:03That is, whenever the focus was kept on Wakanda.
20:06Director DeFontaine?
20:07Really?
20:08Well...
20:09The film comes to a screeching halt whenever it cuts to Everett K. Ross and Valentina
20:14Allegra DeFontaine, who used to be married by the way.
20:18What do they have to do with the conflict between Shuri and Namor?
20:21Nothing crucial.
20:22And from the second their subplot surfaces, the film's momentum slows down.
20:27We like Martin Freeman and Julia Louis-Dreyfus in these roles, but this should have been
20:32designated to a Disney Plus series or post-credits scene.
20:35But these guys in ties, you know, they got a whole thing to protect.
20:41As a subplot in the highly anticipated Black Panther sequel, it enables one of Marvel's
20:47worst habits, shoehorning in previews for future projects.
20:51Ever thought what we would be doing if the US was the only country in the world with vibranium?
20:56Oh, I actually dream about that.
21:00Number 9, Superhero Names, The Marvels.
21:03Carol Danvers and Kamala Khan have code names, although Monica Rambeau is comfortable just being
21:08Monica Rambeau.
21:09This doesn't sit well with Kamala, who insists on workshopping potential aliases.
21:14What's your, what's your code name?
21:16Oh, I don't have a code name.
21:18We'll workshop it.
21:19No, thank you.
21:20The Marvels isn't the first superhero movie to do this joke.
21:23And that's precisely the problem.
21:25It feels like every superhero movie nowadays has an awkward scene where a main character
21:31brainstorms names.
21:32Because we're a team now and there's four of us, so we should come up with a name for it.
21:43This might have been a little funny at first, but it's become one of the genre's most redundant
21:48tropes.
21:49The Marvels arguably drove it into the ground, as Kamala tries to make Professor Marvel happen.
21:55It's not going to happen.
21:57Firefly.
21:58Nightlight.
21:58Countess Marvel.
21:59Mistress Marvel.
22:00Doctor.
22:01Marvel.
22:02Doctor Bright.
22:04Professor Marvel.
22:05This running gag reflects the film's larger problem.
22:08It has nothing new to offer, which may be why this was a rare Marvel bomb.
22:14Number 8.
22:15The Ice Cream Song.
22:16Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
22:18Okay, so, well, listen to this.
22:22I'm going to start it.
22:23No, I want to start it.
22:24I want to start it.
22:25Multiverse of Madness is a solid addition to Phase 4, as long as you don't think too
22:30hard about the plot.
22:31That said, why is Wanda drawn to this particular reality?
22:35There are infinite others she could slip into, preferably one with vision, yet she solely
22:40focuses on this one.
22:42Why?
22:43Because Billy and Tommy sang her a cringy song about ice cream.
22:47Yeah, let's talk about that.
22:48We like ice cream like every child should.
22:55We sensed the filmmakers were going for innocence, but how many kids sing when they want ice cream?
23:01It comes across as disingenuous and pandering.
23:04What's worse, the song is a lyrical trainwreck, and the kid actors, despite trying their best
23:10to sell it, just seem embarrassed.
23:12This is when Wanda should have started looking for another reality.
23:19Number 7.
23:20Ralph Boner.
23:22WandaVision.
23:23WandaVision remains one of the MCU's best post-end-game projects.
23:27On the heels of arguably its most buzz-worthy moment, though, the series pulled an unfortunate
23:32boner.
23:42Episode 5 ends with the bombshell that Wanda recasts Pietro with Evan Peters, suggesting that
23:49the X-Men had finally arrived in the MCU.
23:52Never told me much about your brother.
23:54I had no idea he'd be so...
23:55Go!
23:58Great with kids!
24:00The finale trolled us big time, revealing that this isn't Quicksilver from another universe.
24:06He's just a random neighbor that Wanda cast as her brother to keep up the ruse.
24:11To add insult to injury, they named the character Ralph Boner, emphasizing just how useless this
24:18subplot was.
24:26We wouldn't be so upset if Peter's debut hadn't built up such promise.
24:31The twist stopped the hype train dead in its tracks.
24:34Number 6.
24:35Pip the Troll.
24:36Eternals.
24:42The plot wasn't especially engaging, and we still can't remember most of the characters'
24:47names, but at least Eternals had some lovely visuals.
24:51Then, we got to the post-credits scene.
24:57We feel like Marvel thought Harry Styles' Star Fox would be the key takeaway.
25:02Audiences were far more distracted by his abominable CGI companion, Pip the Troll.
25:07It's always great hearing Patton Oswalt's voice.
25:11Ironically though, it probably would've been funnier and less costly if Oswalt showed up
25:16wearing pointy ears.
25:23Alas, Marvel went the digital route, reportedly not giving the effects team much time to perfect
25:28Pip's appearance.
25:29Marvel rushing overworked VFX artists?
25:33Heh, you don't say.
25:34While Pip might have been the mascot for Marvel's CGI woes for a period, the worst had yet to
25:40come.
25:41Number 5.
25:42Rhodey is a Skrull.
25:43Secret Invasion.
25:44Please tell me this isn't true.
25:46Are you listening to this insanity?
25:47Of course it isn't true.
25:48Between Maria Hill's unceremonious death and the AI scandal surrounding the opening titles,
25:53Secret Invasion left numerous viewers saying, you know, we don't have to watch everything
26:00MCU related.
26:01Even if you gave up after one episode, it was hard to escape the online backlash concerning
26:07Rhodey.
26:07In episode 4, we learned that a Skrull named Rava has been posing as him.
26:12The real Rhodey is rescued in the finale, but exactly how long has he been incapacitated?
26:18You've been held hostage for a long time.
26:24Director Ali Saleem suggested it might have been around his accident in Civil War, meaning
26:29the Rhodey from Infinity War onward may have been a Skrull.
26:32Time will only tell if that's the case, but this twist left many fans worried that Rhodey's
26:37character arc was ruined.
26:43Number 4.
26:44The Mandarin Twist.
26:45Iron Man 3.
26:46Before Phase 4, fans would defend the MCU with a vengeance whenever somebody criticized
26:52it.
26:53Even the most apologetic die-hards took issue with the Mandarin reveal, however.
26:57Ben Kingsley establishes a menacing presence as Tony Stark's archenemy.
27:01Only to later be exposed as an actor named Trevor Slattery.
27:06They gave me things.
27:07They gave me this palace.
27:08They gave me plastic surgery.
27:10They gave me things.
27:13Did you just nod off?
27:15Hey.
27:16No, what a lovely speedboat.
27:18Instead, we're stuck with Guy Pearce as another villain whose name we can't remember.
27:23Don't tell us in the comments.
27:25Anonymity, Tony.
27:27Thanks to you, it's been my mantra ever since, right?
27:30You simply rule from behind the scenes.
27:33At the time, this was easily the MCU's most infamous moment.
27:38Shang-Chi made up for it almost a decade later, introducing the real Mandarin and even bringing
27:43back Kingsley in a humorous callback.
27:45Oh, hello loves.
27:49What year is it?
27:50While this softened the blow, it's disappointing that we'll never get to see Iron Man go up
27:55against the true Mandarin in this continuity.
27:58Number 3.
27:58Megan Thee Stallion.
27:59She-Hulk Attorney at Law.
28:01Few MCU projects have divided people like She-Hulk.
28:04I possess the most advanced entertainment algorithm in the world, and it produces near-perfect products.
28:10Near-perfect?
28:11Some are better than others.
28:13Where some think it's a fun meta-commentary, the haters say it's an insult to the MCU, pointing
28:19to the Megan Thee Stallion meme as Exhibit A.
28:21That's right.
28:23There's only one Megan Thee Stallion.
28:24Next.
28:25Ah.
28:27Fans have argued that there's a double standard claiming that if Deadpool twerked with the
28:31rapper, there wouldn't be such discourse.
28:34To an extent, we agree.
28:35But there's a key difference.
28:37Consistency.
28:38Even when emotionally invested, Deadpool never takes anything that seriously.
28:43A beautiful, hairless, twisted-legged baby boy.
28:48Christ, this is disturbing.
28:50Jennifer Walters wants to be taken seriously as a lawyer, but she occasionally acts like
28:55a college freshman.
28:56So, when you have her twerking with the body singer, it can feel unbalanced.
29:02Regardless, Tatiana Maslany said shooting the scene was the greatest day and moment of
29:08her life.
29:09Oh, you are way more fun than my last lawyer.
29:12I will kill for you Megan Thee Stallion.
29:14Solid back.
29:15Number 2.
29:16Axl's Head.
29:16Thor Loving Thunder.
29:17Astrid.
29:18Your father gave you a very tough Viking name and I intend to honor his witches.
29:22Axl.
29:23Astrid.
29:23I said Axl.
29:24Astrid.
29:24Axl.
29:25It's asshole, now listen to him.
29:27With Thor Ragnarok, the MCU and director Taika Waititi were at their apex.
29:32When they intersected again, both were going through creative rough patches.
29:36If you thought Thor Loving Thunder would be the shot in the arm Marvel and YTD needed,
29:41we refer you to the screaming goats.
29:43Giant goats.
29:44Oh, look at those.
29:46They are wonderful.
29:47Oh, look at that.
29:48Those things are beautiful.
29:49If that's not enough to make our point, lo and behold, this lackluster effect.
29:54For a film that otherwise has some astounding visuals, this looks like something out of SpongeBob SquarePants.
30:01I am a simple tumbleweed.
30:03Call me Sage.
30:05Sage.
30:05Hey, Sage.
30:06The effects aside, the interplay between Thor and Astrid, we mean Axl, just isn't funny.
30:12The filmmakers seemingly thought otherwise as the bit goes on forever.
30:17Hey, how's it going, kids?
30:19How's it going?
30:19Look where we are.
30:20We're in a cage made of spikes.
30:23Yeah, that's right.
30:24No good.
30:24We appreciate that Marvel has a sense of humor, but not every scene needs to force banter.
30:31Before we continue, be sure to check out WatchMojo's 24-hour livestream.
30:35All of your favorite videos in one place, 24-7.
30:38Always on, always live.
30:40Are you not entertained?
30:43Number one.
30:45Modok, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Quantumania.
30:48Darren is dead!
30:50There is only Modok!
30:53For a film about Ant-Man and the Wasp, Quantumania focused more on teasing Kang and his variants.
30:59We all know how that turned out.
31:01While Jonathan Major's controversy didn't help, Kang isn't the biggest problem in Quantumania.
31:07That would be Modok.
31:08And here we are again.
31:11Face to face.
31:15That's a face.
31:17It's a...
31:18It's a big face.
31:20Okay, let's be fair.
31:21This character's design in the comics is already pretty silly.
31:24Translating it into a photorealistic environment was always going to be a challenge.
31:30That said, his stretched out face isn't just laughably bad for a multi-million dollar film.
31:35The character is downright unpleasant to look at, making us wish he kept his mask on.
31:40What the hell happened?
31:43Yeah, no, it's...
31:44It's a whole thing.
31:45I'll tell you later.
31:46Even if he had anything funny to say, we're too busy wondering how an MCU movie has less appealing effects
31:53than Sharkboy and Lavagirl.
31:54Are there any disastrous scenes in the MCU that we missed? Share all of Marvel's vibe killers down in the
32:00comments below.
32:01That's right.
32:02Thanks for watching.
32:02I'm gonna be back.
32:03Bye.
32:03Bye.
32:04Bye.
