00:00On Friday, North Carolina's 100 counties will begin mailing absentee by mail ballots for the 2026 general election.
00:07And that's the purpose of this press conference today, to try to clear up any confusion that may be out

00:16and to also send a message to the voters that it's business as usual.
00:20So I think in election administration, you have to, I think we do kind of run a little bit on
00:25adrenaline.
00:26So you wouldn't be in elections if you didn't like the constant change.
00:30We're no stranger to change. So again, we always are looking at how we need to scale up.
00:35What are our backup plans? You know, what are the what ifs?
00:38You know, we do a lot of pre-planning to make sure that we have adequate stock if we were
00:44to have to reprint.
00:45The chaos at the national level is creating some concern.
00:50I don't know what's going to happen if the federal government implements its rules.
00:53If they just toss the ballots, it could be problematic.
00:57So I think there's, we're just in a period of uncertainty about mail-in ballots that we've never experienced before.
