00:05Ohtani was left out of the Dodgers lineup for their final game against the Cardinals today
00:09after showing some clearly visible signs of discomfort and Wednesday night's loss.
00:14Ohtani, of course, has been battling injuries to his left knee and his right biceps for most of this season,
00:19injuries that have kept him from pitching, but to this point had not impacted his hitting.
00:23That changed on Wednesday when he went 0-4 with four strikeouts
00:27and was shaking out his arm, grimacing after his last at-bat.
00:30Dave Roberts, the manager, felt like Ohtani's physical problems
00:34might have started contributing to some of his recent offensive struggles.
00:37So today he left him out of the lineup to try to give him both a physical and mental reset.
00:41For now, it's going to be a day-to-day situation.
00:43They will reevaluate Ohtani going forward.
00:45They do not expect this to become an IL situation, at least for now,
00:48and are hopeful that with a little bit of rest,
00:50he will start to look like the normal Shohei Ohtani as the regular season winds down.
