Range Rover, the original luxury SUV, has launched its first fully electric model, Range Rover Electric, built at JLR's Solihull manufacturing plant in the UK. The launch is underpinned by a large-scale transformation of the site and wider West Midlands footprint, including new battery and electric drive unit production lines and large-scale reskilling of the workforce for electrification.

That transformation extends across JLR's UK manufacturing base: at Solihull, 9,000 employees have been upskilled for electrification and a further 1,500 trained across the wider West Midlands footprint, while JLR's Electric Propulsion Manufacturing Centre in Wolverhampton now produces battery packs and electric drive units alongside internal combustion engines. Notably, Range Rover Electric is built on the same Solihull production line as its mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid and combustion counterparts, with each vehicle manufactured to order – underlining JLR’s flexible propulsion strategy. More than two-thirds of Range Rover's supplier spend is directed to UK and European suppliers, reinforcing the brand's economic footprint at home.

Range Rover Electric marks a major milestone for the brand, seamlessly integrating electric propulsion into an architecture engineered for it from the outset. Twin permanent magnet motors deliver near-silent performance with V8 levels of power, while revolutionary traction management – reacting up to 100 times faster than a combustion-engine equivalent – ensures no compromise to Range Rover's signature all-terrain capability, including wading through 900mm of water.

00:00Hi, my name is Martin Limpert, I'm the Global Managing Director for Range Rover and we
00:04are in Solihull in the UK in the final assembly line of our Range Rover and Range Rover Sport.
00:09And we are revealing today our Range Rover Electric, so this is really a magic moment
00:14for us.
00:15So what makes today a landmark day for Range Rover?
00:18We are revealing Range Rover Electric, which we think is the pinnacle of what the Range
00:23Rover stands for.
00:25Range Rover is the original luxury SUV since 1970.
00:28Our customers value refinement, craftsmanship, the breadth of capability, obsession with
00:35details, peerlessness and effortlessness.
00:38And Range Rover Electric brings all of that to the next level and elevates these attributes.
00:43So why is now the right time for the first full electric Range Rover?
00:47I would simply say because we are now ready and now it's a true and genuine Range Rover.
00:53So it was more important for us to elevate all the attributes as I mentioned before.
00:57We didn't think, how could an electric Range Rover look like?
01:01But rather, how does an electric vehicle have to look like to be a genuine Range Rover?
01:08And we are ready now.
01:09It's mature.
01:10It delivers on the promise and this is why it's the right time.
01:14So if the electric Range Rover can still do what the original Range Rover does, absolutely
01:18and more.
01:20So if our customers want it more quiet, it's seven decibel more quiet in the cabin because
01:26of the electric motors and the battery logic.
