00:03Constitutional President Nicolás Maduro and his wife First Lady Celia Flores.

00:11Hello and greetings from New York. I'm in front of the Metropolitan Detention
00:15Center in Brooklyn where a group of protesters are here gathering demanding
00:22the immediate release of President of Venezuela Nicolás Maduro after eight
00:28months of being held in this detention center. I'm here with one of the
00:34protesters. Your name? My name is Miquela Martinazzi. Miquela, eight months after the
00:41illegal detention of President Nicolás Maduro. Why are you still here? Because not
00:46only was the kidnapping a war crime but we also understand that if Maduro and Flores
00:51are indicted it gives the United States you know it opens the gate for the United
00:57States to continue this type of war crimes all over the world. Who else are they
01:02going to kidnap? What other country are they going to intervene? And so we
01:06understand that the return of Maduro and Flores back to Venezuela is better not
01:11only for Venezuelans but for the whole world. I see that month after month you
01:18have been here constantly supporting President Maduro and his wife. Why so?
01:24Honestly because they need the support. I've done other political repression
01:29campaigns and what people on the inside need to know is that there's people on
01:34the outside that support them. We understand that Maduro and Flores' community is back in
01:40Venezuela so we have to be their community here in Brooklyn while they're awaiting trial.
01:46And so I am happy and I know everyone else here is happy to take on that role to support
01:52Maduro
01:52and support Flores on this horrible long journey that they've been on.
01:56If you have them in front of you, what would you say to them?
01:59I would say thank you so much for fighting against U.S. imperialism by making Venezuela as strong
02:06as a country as it can be and we support you in this fight and I'm honored to hope that
02:14you get back home.
