00:15Well, pay attention.
00:16And remember, I said it last week, I'll say it again.
00:18If you're visiting for the first time, you can relax.
00:21We don't want your money.
00:22We're gonna be talking about giving.
00:24It's in Proverbs 3.
00:26But we're not gonna ask you.
00:27In fact, you saw the big lift the moment again,
00:30or a moment ago, when Tate said,
00:33you can give if you're led to give, you can give this way.
00:35We're not gonna pass the plate.
00:37We're not gonna stop halfway through the service
00:39and get the ushers out here to take an offering.
00:42By the way, can I give all glory to God?
00:44Listen to this.
00:46This church relies upon the generosity of those
00:52who are touched by the spirit of God to give.
00:54It has been that way for 36 years.
00:58Might I remind you, how many of you saw
01:00a very large building going up next door?
01:03Raise your hand.
01:04Come on.
01:04Did you not see it?
01:05Why?
01:07Have you not seen it?
01:08Only a quarter of you have seen it.
01:10How could you miss it?
01:11It's a three-story, ginormous building going up.
01:15And if that's missed your attention,
01:16there's gonna be, I think,
01:17a four-story parking structure going up.
01:20Yeah.
01:21Say amen for better parking.
01:24How many times have we asked you to give
01:27to that building project?
01:28Can I hear?
01:30How many little building thermometers
01:33have you seen here?
01:39As long as I'm the pastor of this church,
01:41if we ever have to ask to build something.
01:43Now, there may be a day when I come out here
01:45and ask you to support the school
01:49for its teachers or for its projects.
01:52I, without being shy, I will do that easily.
01:58That's different.
02:00That's different.
02:01To help a kid get an education,
02:03that's different.
02:05That's just saying if.
02:07But the bottom line is this.
02:10My pastor taught me
02:11and taught all of us Calvary Chapel pastors,
02:14when God guides, God provides.
02:18And if you're involved in a work of God
02:22and he has not provided,
02:23it may not be the work of God providing
02:27because he doesn't want that particular thing to be done.
02:30But when he provides,
02:32that is confidence that you're doing the right thing.
02:35And I got, I got,
02:37I'm just so excited to announce to you,
02:39you will not see as long as I'm alive
02:40any fundraising campaigns here at this church
02:45because God already did it.
02:48We operate in cash and God has provided.
02:52And so if I drop dead, listen to this,
02:54if I drop dead and the board,
02:57they're all my age too,
02:58if all of us drop dead,
03:03we've given this next generation of believers
03:06everything to succeed.
03:07If they flub it up, that's on them.
03:09And all God's people said,
03:11there you go.
03:13Proverbs chapter three, verse seven.
03:16I'll read it.
03:16You can pick it up in verse eight.
03:17Do not be wise in your own eyes.
03:20Fear the Lord and depart from evil.
03:22It will be health to your flesh
03:25and strength to your bones.
03:27Verse nine.
03:27Honor the Lord with your possessions
03:29and with the first fruits of all your increase.
03:33So your bonds will be filled with plenty
03:35and your vats will overflow with new wine.
03:38So Father, we pray today that this truth
03:41from the book of Proverbs
03:43would be our lives lived out.
03:47Lord, we don't want anyone's opinion
03:50or our own opinion
03:52to in any way
03:54try to decipher what those verses mean.
03:56We know exactly what they mean.
03:58It's crystal clear.
04:00So we pray, Holy Spirit,
04:03fulfill your truth in our lives.
04:06We ask you, Lord God,
04:07also that by the time we come to the end
04:09of this message,
04:10the truth as to how to get rich quick
04:13is received by all those listening,
04:16watching,
04:16and that are here right now.
04:18That it's Jesus Christ,
04:20his blood,
04:21the cross,
04:23the death of Jesus,
04:26the resurrection of Jesus,
04:28eternal life,
04:29sins forgiven.
04:30Want to get rich quick?
04:32That's how we get rich quick.
04:33By getting saved
04:35by the remarkable and awesome
04:37favor of our almighty God
04:39through Jesus Christ,
04:40our Lord and Savior.
04:41So Father, bless our time together now.
04:43We pray and all God's people said,
04:44Amen.
04:45You may be seated.
04:48As we've been preparing for this
04:49both last week and this week,
04:51I came across more and more data
04:55and just paint this with a broad brush.
04:58You can look at the details later.
05:00They're not hard to find.
05:02Guess what country
05:03in the history of mankind
05:05has proven to be
05:06the most generous nation
05:08on the face of the earth historically?
05:11It has also been
05:13not only just by its own populace,
05:16but most predominantly led by
05:18the Christian community
05:20in that particular nation.
05:22Historically, that is,
05:23and you guessed it,
05:24the United States of America
05:25has been the single most
05:26financially generous nation
05:28that the world has ever seen
05:30regarding calamities,
05:32natural disasters,
05:33the ravages of war,
05:34financial aid,
05:35and the infinite amount
05:37of compassion
05:39and acts of compassion
05:40that have come
05:41to cover the globe
05:42up to this very day,
05:44much of which come from
05:45the American Christian.
05:47The question is,
05:48why is that the case?
05:50And the reason why it's the case,
05:51and I give you this quote
05:52by Winston Churchill.
05:53I believe that what Churchill declared
05:56is the truth of America's generosity
05:59provided by God.
06:00Winston Churchill said,
06:02we make a living
06:03by what we get,
06:05but we make a life
06:06by what we give.
06:09I like that.
06:10And that is
06:12in direct correlation
06:14with the Proverbs
06:15of the Bible.
06:16And it certainly lives out true
06:18in the history of our nation.
06:20The Bible tells us,
06:21in fact,
06:21Jesus is quoted here
06:23in Acts chapter 20,
06:24verse 35.
06:25We've all heard this.
06:26It is more blessed to give
06:28than to receive.
06:29Jesus said that.
06:31According to the world,
06:34the world is better off
06:35because of the generosity
06:36of the United States of America.
06:38Listen carefully.
06:40But where did America
06:41get that generosity
06:42and where did America
06:44get the tools
06:45and the wherewithal
06:46to be generous?
06:48By the hand of God.
06:50We're going to see that today.
06:53And I'm going to argue today
06:54that the poorest person among us
06:56is still blessed
06:57by more than many of those
06:59in the nations of the world.
07:03This morning,
07:04if you're hungry,
07:05it's probably because
07:05you've chosen to go hungry.
07:08If you're not wearing shoes,
07:09it's because you're probably
07:10wearing flip-flops
07:11because it's a nice
07:12tropical day outside.
07:14In fact,
07:15somebody asked me earlier
07:16if I was going to go sailing
07:17in my little spring outfit
07:20I'm wearing, I guess.
07:21I don't...
07:22Listen, people,
07:22you have no idea.
07:23Lisa's usually asleep
07:24at the hour that I get dressed.
07:26I reach into the closet.
07:27I pull stuff out.
07:28I iron it.
07:30And then I turn the light on
07:31to put it on.
07:32And away I go.
07:33I often don't care
07:34what this stuff looks like.
07:35So somebody said,
07:36you also look like
07:36an Easter egg, Pastor Jack.
07:42Now listen,
07:43what you're wearing,
07:44you're wearing probably
07:45by choice.
07:45You probably have
07:46another pair of pants
07:47because we're blessed
07:50in this country.
07:52And God would ask of us,
07:53what are we going to do
07:54with what good things
07:55he's given to us?
07:57And we've learned this thus far.
08:00That is,
08:00the way to get rich quick
08:02is found in verse 7.
08:03And that is by humbling
08:04ourselves before God.
08:06He says,
08:07as we read a moment ago,
08:08do not be wise
08:08in your own eyes.
08:10Fear the Lord
08:11and depart from evil.
08:12We need to be humble
08:13before God.
08:14When God gives things
08:15to his children
08:16or when God gives things
08:17to a nation
08:18as he has America,
08:20America should be thankful
08:21and we Christians
08:22should lead the way
08:23in teaching the nation
08:25how to be thankful.
08:26We should be
08:27the most thankful people.
08:28I'm really excited
08:29about this.
08:30It's not even Thanksgiving
08:32or November yet,
08:33but America has,
08:35the United States of America
08:36has its one true holy day
08:38that nobody can take away
08:40from us,
08:41even if Newsom
08:42never recognizes it.
08:44It's Thanksgiving.
08:46Did you know that Thanksgiving
08:47is a true Christian holy day?
08:51And come back in November
08:53and we'll tell you all about that,
08:55how true that is.
08:56But that should humble us.
08:59And then the second thing
09:00we saw in verse 8
09:01is that we're to give ourselves
09:02back to God.
09:03Our lives have been given to us
09:06on loan from God.
09:07Everything has been given to us.
09:09He's loaned it to us.
09:11Everything.
09:12Lisa and I met a young couple
09:14the other night
09:14at a restaurant
09:15and the young man said,
09:17Pastor Jack,
09:18God has just dramatically
09:19blessed our business.
09:21It's been amazing.
09:22And I,
09:23look,
09:23I can do this.
09:24He was young.
09:25I'm old.
09:25I grabbed him by the face.
09:27On the side of the face
09:29and I said,
09:29listen,
09:29I looked right at him.
09:30I said,
09:31I looked at him
09:32and I said,
09:32listen,
09:32the Lord bless you
09:34and watch over you
09:35when riches increase.
09:36Do not set your sight upon them
09:38for they can sprout wings
09:40and fly
09:40with all that God has given you.
09:43Do all to the glory of God
09:44and may he bless you,
09:46your marriage,
09:47your family,
09:47your business
09:48and may people know
09:49that they've done business
09:50with a Christian company.
09:52And that was so fun
09:53because the restaurant
09:54went kind of quiet
09:55at that moment.
09:57But it's true.
09:59But you don't have to
09:59own business
10:01or have some money
10:02to think that,
10:03you know,
10:04that's how God will use me.
10:05No.
10:05Each and every one of us
10:06right now,
10:07the Bible says,
10:08do not despise the day
10:09of small things.
10:10Maybe your life
10:11in your opinion
10:12is small.
10:13Can I give you this advice?
10:14Keep it small
10:15in your opinion.
10:17But as God blesses you
10:18in your faithfulness,
10:19watch what God does
10:20with your life.
10:21Because what God has done
10:22in this church,
10:23he's done it through
10:24each and every individual
10:26that makes this church
10:27a church.
10:30Thirdly,
10:31we saw last time
10:31it's where we left off.
10:33It's to have you and I
10:34offer deliberate worship
10:36to God.
10:37It says,
10:37honor the Lord
10:38with your possessions
10:39and with the first fruits
10:41of all your increase.
10:43I'm going to remind you
10:44of a few things.
10:45The word honor.
10:45Let's look at the screen.
10:47In the Hebrew language,
10:48the honor of,
10:49the meaning of the word
10:50honor in this verse
10:51is this.
10:52It's a very,
10:53very graphic
10:56meaning
10:56to be heavily loaded
10:58down with,
10:59weighty,
11:00to be loaded
11:01down with,
11:02abounding with honor
11:03toward one another
11:04and towards,
11:06toward,
11:08what am I saying?
11:10Toward one another
11:11toward others.
11:13In other words,
11:14God has blessed you
11:15to honor God.
11:17How do I express that
11:19in reality?
11:20In real tangible ways.
11:22We don't say we're Christians.
11:24Let's be honest.
11:25It doesn't matter what you say.
11:26It's what you do.
11:28That backs up the confession.
11:30You can confess
11:31that you're a Christian,
11:32but over time,
11:33we will know
11:33if that's you or not.
11:35You will know
11:35if I'm a true Christian or not.
11:37How?
11:37Over time.
11:39And we as believers
11:40are to be a people
11:41who honor God
11:43in all that we do
11:44and all that we have.
11:45And so I want to read you
11:47this quote right here.
11:48I want you to read that.
11:48And if you have the notes,
11:49it's on page three.
11:51It says,
11:52by putting God first,
11:53we are honoring him
11:56in our worship
11:57with what things we have.
11:59When we fail to acknowledge God
12:00for such things
12:01that he has placed
12:03in our hands,
12:04we are robbing him
12:05of gratitude,
12:07thankfulness,
12:07and appreciation.
12:09Now listen to this, everybody.
12:10You're going to write this down.
12:11Malachi,
12:12the book of Malachi,
12:13chapter three.
12:15Malachi, chapter three.
12:18Will a man rob God?
12:22Yet you have robbed me.
12:25This is God speaking.
12:26But you say,
12:27in what way have we robbed you?
12:29In tithes and offerings.
12:31Verse nine.
12:32By the way,
12:33tithes,
12:33the word tithes,
12:34I don't want to get into it.
12:35The word tithes,
12:36Old Testament.
12:37Tithe,
12:37that word means tenth.
12:39A tenth.
12:41Tithe means tenth.
12:44And then offerings
12:45is something
12:45that's done
12:46over that
12:47by love.
12:49Out of love.
12:51When somebody says,
12:52you know,
12:53I give my ten percent
12:54or I do my ten percent
12:55or is it gross or net?
12:58Do I give out of my gross or net?
13:00I understand the question.
13:01I also understand
13:02where it's coming from.
13:03Here's the thing though.
13:04The Old Testament
13:07mentions tithe.
13:07But when you put it all together,
13:09when you put all of what God
13:11in the Old Testament
13:12is asking his people
13:13to contribute,
13:15it's somewhere around
13:1633 or 37 percent.
13:19You say,
13:19boy,
13:20I'm so glad
13:20I didn't live
13:21in the Old Testament.
13:23Yeah,
13:24hear me out.
13:25There's no tithe
13:26mentioned in the New Testament.
13:29Some guy's saying,
13:30honey,
13:31I like this church.
13:33No tithe.
13:34There's no tithe
13:35in the New Testament.
13:37Do you know
13:38what the difference is?
13:39Do you know
13:39what the percentage is
13:40in the New Testament?
13:43A hundred percent.
13:46I forget
13:47if it was Mr. Colgate.

14:19look,
14:19God had to bless
14:20the poor guy.

14:21starved to death.
14:24And as long as he lived,
14:25by the way,
14:25he kept true to that.
14:27But listen to this.
14:29New Testament,
14:30we give all.
14:31It's all his.
14:33Those credit cards
14:34in your wallet,
14:35they've got your name on it,
14:36but you belong to God
14:37if you're a believer.
14:39Everything that you,
14:39you have a house?
14:40I've got a house.
14:41It's God's house.
14:43Look,
14:44I just bought
14:44a brand new car.
14:45You got,
14:46you just bought God
14:47a brand new car.
14:49It's all his.
14:50Can't he take it away
14:51from you in a moment?
14:52And if that's not enough,
14:54can't he take your breath
14:55away in a second?
14:57It all belongs to him.
14:58And we can celebrate that
14:59rather than being,
15:00oh,
15:01bummed out about it.
15:02So Malachi chapter three,
15:03verse eight,
15:03goes on to say this.
15:06Verse nine,
15:08you are cursed
15:09with a curse
15:10for or because
15:12you have robbed me,
15:13even this whole nation.
15:14He was speaking to Israel.
15:16Bring all the tithes
15:18into the storehouse
15:19that there may be food
15:20in my house.
15:21Notice that.
15:22Bring what I've blessed you with
15:25into the management
15:26of my house,
15:27my storehouse.
15:29Why?
15:29So it might be a blessing
15:30to others.
15:32And try me.
15:33This is the only thing
15:34that God ever says
15:35about take me on
15:37and see if this is true.
15:38God says,
15:39try me now in this,
15:41says the Lord of hosts.
15:42If I will not open you
15:44the windows of heaven
15:45and pour out for you
15:46such blessing
15:47that there will be not,
15:49that there will not be
15:50room enough
15:51to receive it.
15:52Why does God say this
15:53in his word?
15:54You put me first,
15:56I will bless your life
15:57because you're blessing others.
15:58You can't put me first
15:59and not be a blessing
16:00to others.
16:01You can't put God first
16:04and not respond
16:06to the opportunity
16:07to get people
16:09to join the Indonesian
16:12gathering of nations
16:13for evangelism.
16:15You can't put God first
16:16and not build hospitals
16:19in various parts of Africa
16:21or areas in the Middle East.
16:23You're involved in that.
16:24You didn't know that.
16:27You cannot put God first
16:29and not invest
16:31in the children
16:32that are out
16:33in these two different
16:33wings of these buildings
16:35over here
16:35with gospel materials.
16:37Are you hearing me?
16:39You can't put God first
16:40and not tell the city
16:42or the surrounding cities
16:44and their leadership,
16:46how can this church
16:47help you
16:48and the things
16:48that are plaguing you
16:49that keep you
16:50from governing
16:51as you ought?
16:52Give it to us.
16:54This church will connect
16:56with local municipalities
16:57to find out
16:59are there shut-ins,
17:00are there widows
17:01that need help
17:02with light bills
17:04or things like that.
17:06Do you know what that does?
17:07That communicates
17:08to those municipalities
17:10that those are people
17:12that we can depend upon.
17:14In the day of trouble
17:15as a city,
17:16we can call upon that church
17:17to help us out.
17:18Which, by the way,
17:19a little side note,
17:20when agencies
17:22like the FBI
17:23and regional police agencies
17:26want to do
17:27either a staging
17:28or a practice
17:30for events,
17:32guess where they come
17:33to do their test
17:34and do their,
17:35right?
17:36You're sitting in it.
17:37How do you like that?
17:39That's a witness.
17:42And we don't charge them.
17:44That's a witness.
17:47But God says,
17:48if you withhold from me,
17:49you're actually
17:49cursing yourself
17:51because you're not
17:52getting involved
17:54in the things
17:54that God wants to do.
17:57Very important.
17:59We want to offer God
18:00deliberately
18:01the offering
18:02of what he has given
18:03to us.
18:04In Luke chapter 6,
18:06verse 38,
18:07Jesus said the same.
18:09Give and it will be
18:10given to you.
18:11Good measure.
18:12Press down.
18:13Isn't that,
18:14that's amazing.
18:14Put that in your head.
18:15Give.
18:18And it will be
18:18given to you.
18:20Good measure.
18:21Abundantly.
18:22Press down.
18:24Shaken together.
18:25I used to have a boss
18:26when I would
18:27work for him
18:29during high school
18:30summers.
18:31He would say,
18:32I've got so much
18:33work going on.
18:35I've got so much work
18:36it's like putting
18:3810 pounds of work
18:39in a 2 pound sack.
18:41You see that picture?

18:44in a 2 pound sack?
18:45God says,
18:46you give to me
18:47and this is what I'll do.
18:48Because you're faithful
18:50at whatever it is.
18:53I'm going to see
18:54that you're
18:56responsible for more.
18:57And so God gives back.
18:59Jesus goes on to say,
19:01running,
19:02overflowing
19:03into your bosom
19:04for with the same measure
19:06that you use,
19:07it will be measured
19:08back to you.
19:09Jesus is announcing,
19:11get involved,
19:12care,
19:13don't be an island.
19:15You name the name
19:16of Jesus.
19:17By the way,
19:17I'm only talking
19:18to the Christian today.
19:18If you're not a Christian,
19:20you can point your finger
19:21at the Christian here
19:22all day long.
19:23Look,
19:23he's talking about you.
19:25I'll come to you
19:26at the end of this.
19:30The fourth thing
19:31is this,
19:32is that
19:33how to get rich quick
19:34is found in verse 10
19:35and that's the closing verse
19:36of our section
19:37and that is
19:38to provide for others.
19:39Verse 10,
19:40how do we provide
19:41for others?
19:42This is so your barns
19:43will be filled
19:43with plenty
19:44and your vats
19:46will overflow
19:46with new wine.
19:49Wow.
19:50How do we bless others?
19:51By receiving
19:52the blessings of God,
19:54God will bless you
19:54so that you might prosper
19:56so that you can turn around
19:57and help others.
19:58Hey,
19:59America needs to hear
20:00this message right now
20:01in the face of
20:02its flirtation
20:03with socialism.
20:06Socialism,
20:07Satan knows what he's doing.
20:08Wherever socialism exists,
20:10everybody listen,
20:12don't forget this,
20:13people that are endorsing
20:14socialism
20:15and communism,
20:18wherever it happens,
20:19the church
20:20has to go underground.
20:22There's a satanic
20:23design to this.
20:25What's happening
20:26in America,

20:31of tentacles

20:34into our nation
20:35in every area

20:39everybody,
20:40hate to blow your mind,
20:42but our nation's
20:42approaching,
20:43if hasn't passed,
20:44$40 trillion
20:45in debt.
20:46There's no recovery
20:48for the United States
20:49of America
20:50mathematically.
20:51Do you all
20:51understand that?
20:53Wake up.
20:54The reality
20:55is this.
20:57On paper,
20:58Americans are broke
20:59because we owe
21:01everything.
21:02Our nation
21:03owes its existence
21:05to the generosity
21:06of other countries
21:07that have loaned us money.
21:10We are broke.
21:12How long
21:13will the U.S. dollar
21:14be king?
21:15I don't know.
21:17But we cannot
21:18function like this.
21:21I believe the cure
21:22for the United States
21:23is to put God first.
21:24You want to fix the war?
21:26Do you want to fix
21:26government?
21:27Do you want to fix
21:28our freedoms?
21:29Do you want to fix
21:29these ridiculous,
21:31insane judges
21:32that we have
21:32governing this nation?
21:34It's the church
21:35getting back to God
21:36and it's the church
21:38honoring God
21:38and then the nation.
21:40We should just
21:40put it out to
21:41the nation
21:42that we are going
21:43to fast and pray
21:44and seek the welfare
21:45of our country
21:46that God might have
21:47mercy upon us.
21:48Nobody wants to hear this,
21:49but the reality
21:49is what it is.
21:51You cannot keep using
21:52as a country
21:53charging a country
21:54credit card
21:55every month
21:55to pay your
21:56national bills
21:57and pretend
21:58that it's not
21:59going to catch up

22:05keep using
22:06your credit card
22:07to pay your bills.
22:09You will implode
22:10as a family.
22:13God says,
22:13honor me.
22:15God is saying,
22:16put me first.
22:18But this time
22:19of the rise
22:20of socialism,
22:21it's so ridiculous.
22:23socialism collapses
22:24when it runs out
22:26of capitalist money.
22:30Free trade market,
22:32where's that from?
22:33The Bible
22:35over and over again.
22:38God never operates,

22:41in the red.
22:42He's always in the black
