00:03I'm a big Scooby Doo movie defender and I know a few of you out there will be too,
00:07so here's a fun question for you. Ever wondered what became of Scrappy Doo in general after
00:12that film released in 2002?
00:14The James Gunn scripted, Raja Gosnell directed movie famously turned Scoob's nephew into
00:19an antagonist, riffing on the character's divisive reputation among the Scooby Doo fandom
00:23by having him be a literal unwanted addition for Mystery Inc in an earlier flashback.
00:28And yeah, ever noticed that the Scooby stuff you've taken a cursory glance at in the years
00:35since just hasn't had Scrappy at all? Well, you can probably thank the movie for that.
00:39Whenever Scrappy has been mentioned, it's been as a joke hinting at his cursed status. Writers
00:44even hinted at a mandate from Warner Brothers about him not being used.
00:48Now it is important to note here as well that the Scrapster disappeared a full 10 years before
00:53the first movie, but it's not disingenuous to assume that the movie hilariously destroyed
00:58any chance of a Puppy Power comeback.
