Satya Niketan building collapse in Delhi has raised serious questions about student safety, accommodation and building regulations. After the tragic incident claimed seven lives, actor Sonu Sood reacted to the situation and urged the government to focus on providing safe and affordable hostels for students. Sood pointed out that around seven lakh students are enrolled in Delhi, while hostel capacity is only around 30,000, meaning just one in 31 students gets access to hostel accommodation. He suggested identifying vacant government land around universities and developing safe and affordable student hostels there. He also proposed giving universities additional building permissions so that more accommodation can be created on campuses. According to Sood, such a move could provide students with safety, give parents peace of mind and also create revenue opportunities for universities and governments. The Satya Niketan collapse has also triggered scrutiny of construction and safety compliance, with authorities ordering investigations and structural audits. Watch this FilmiBeat video for the complete story, Sonu Sood’s suggestions and the latest updates from the Satya Niketan building collapse case.
