Egyptian TV personality Sarah Khalifa has been sentenced to death by hanging after being convicted in a major synthetic drug trafficking case involving 28 defendants.
According to reports, prosecutors accused the group of operating an organized network involved in importing drug-making materials, manufacturing synthetic narcotics and distributing them. Authorities said more than 750 kilograms of synthetic drugs and related raw materials were seized during the investigation.
Khalifa, a former television host and beauty clinic owner, was reportedly arrested in Cairo in April 2025. Prosecutors presented witness statements along with digital and technical evidence, including messages, photos and videos, as part of the case.
Of the 28 defendants, 12 received death sentences, while nine were given life imprisonment and seven were acquitted. Authorities also imposed precautionary measures on the defendants’ assets and bank accounts.
The verdict marks a major development in one of Egypt’s high-profile synthetic drug trafficking cases.
