00:16Lindsay Clancy's outspoken lawyer, Kevin Reddington, directly appealed to President Trump to pardon the killer mom during his appearance on
00:24Good Morning America.
00:25Reddington made the plea when he was asked what was next for Clancy after her high-profile case ended in
00:30a mistrial on Friday, September 4th.
00:33That day, President Trump commented on the case gripping the nation, referring to it as a horrible tragedy.
00:39She did a horrible, horrible thing. Can't be worse. But you'll find out what the price to pay is. There'll
00:48be a price. It's going to be a mental institution or jail or something.
00:52But I guess they're going to go through another trial. It's too bad.
00:55Clancy's trial, in which she was charged for the murder of her three kids in January of 2023, had become
01:01a divisive cultural event, with scores of supporters backing the killer mom who pleaded not guilty by reason of temporary
01:07insanity, claiming she was in the throes of severe postpartum psychosis.
01:11But prosecutors claimed she was lucid enough to carefully plan the stranglings of her three children using exercise bands before
01:19she tried to commit suicide by cutting her wrists and neck, downing prescription meds, and throwing herself from a window
01:25in her upstairs bedroom.
01:27Clancy, a former labor and delivery nurse, injured her spine in multiple places after the fall, and is now paraplegic
01:35and wheelchair-bound.
01:36Clancy is set to be tried again after the first case ended in a mistrial.
01:41The jury was unable to come to a unanimous verdict following 38 hours of deliberation, with just one holdout juror
01:48leading to an 11-to-1 split.
01:49During his appearance, Reddington also said he hoped the evidence presented over weeks of proceedings may push Plymouth County DA
01:57Timothy Cruz to a plea deal.
01:59I hope, however, after sitting through this trial and seeing the evidence that he would revisit that issue and hopefully
02:06would be able to work something out that would be acceptable to both sides.
02:10If she were found not guilty by reason of insanity at a second trial, she would be indefinitely committed to
02:16a mental institution and only freed once doctors and a judge found she was no longer a risk to herself
02:22and to others.
02:23If she were convicted of first-degree murder, she would be imprisoned for life without the possibility of parole.
02:29And she would be guilty of being taken into a bosom and her husband.
