00:00I looked out my window and I saw things that I never want to see again.
00:03We're never going to see them again.
00:05But in just over 100 minutes, 175,000 tons of steel and concrete were reduced to ruin
00:12and 3,000 lives were extinguished, immediately extinguished.
00:16The world we knew and the nation that we loved had changed.
00:21I said it to myself.
00:22And I looked and I said, well, the world has changed forever.
00:27So many things have changed because of that day, yet this battered piece of steel here
00:32today on the ellipse is a reminder that America is blessed with its strength.
00:37No fire can consume, no evil can conquer, and no terror can destroy.
00:42For three months after September 11th, the flames raged in the rubble of Ground Zero.
00:48For nine months, rescue and recovery crews worked day and night on the site.
00:54I want to just thank my people.
00:56I took a lot of my, I was building a big building in New York and I took the whole
01:00crew
01:01down there right after this happened.
01:03And they were, they had no hesitation.
01:06Everybody went down with me.
01:07We went down as a big group of people.
01:09Wasn't too much we could do.
01:11I'll be honest.
01:11It was, it was raw.
01:13Nobody's seen anything like it ever.
01:16We had other buildings.
01:17The United States Steel Building was creaking, really creaking.
01:21Now we thought it was going to fall down.
01:23The truth is it creaked a lot.
01:24It creaked, it still creaks, but it never came down.
01:31And I'll never forget two firemen.
01:33We thought it was coming down on top of us and two firemen, big, strong guys.
01:37And I'm not the smallest guy in the world.
01:40They grabbed me under the arms and said, got to get out of here.
01:43And they literally lifted me up.
01:45This is not easy to do.
01:47I'm big.
01:48They lifted me up and they started running with me.
01:51I said, fellas, I can run myself.
01:53But they were amazing.
01:54But they thought it was coming down.
01:56It didn't come down.
01:56I said, you know, I'm going to get out of the U.S. Steel.
