00:22The long-promised facility in Tuggeranong won't go ahead, after the territory government
00:26found it was too risky and wouldn't be value for money. For those who rely on the
00:31ageing ice skating centre in Phillip, it's a disappointing setback.

00:53Well, I am a bit disappointed because I believe this could have been a feature that the youth
00:58would have been drawn to and would have created a positive environment.

01:06This is the site where the ice sports facility was due to be built. Now it's been scrapped,
01:12the government has pledged to spend the money on delivering and upgrading other sporting
01:17infrastructure projects in Tuggeranong.
01:19The infrastructure south of the lake has not kept up necessarily with the growth of
01:25the demand for our kind of sports. Sporting clubs in Canberra's south are already getting
01:29their wish lists ready. An opportunity to find some infrastructure money that would go towards
01:35maybe upping the quality of some of the school courts we work on, as well as putting in some
01:40infrastructure like under 10's rings would make a significant difference to us.
