00:00Lots of red on the screen out there, but let's take a look at some of the stocks on the
00:03move today.
00:04And we can do that with Bloomberg's John Tucker.
00:06John, what are you looking at this morning?
00:07The highly produced stock movers report.
00:10This is like a well-oiled machine here.
00:12Let's start with meta platforms rising in pre-market trading.
00:16So analysts are positive on the Facebook parent after they debuted an AI assistant, Muse.
00:24This is what it's all about, apparently.
00:25The analysts, for the most part, are saying that meta, well-positioned to succeed in this area,
00:31they expect personal assistance to become a big category for e-commerce and digital ad players.
00:37So the Muse AI agent, it can, let's see, what can it do?
00:41Send emails.
00:42It can book your travel plans, take on goals, and continue working after users close the app.
00:50I'm not sure I want that, but anyway.
00:52But can it pick up my dry cleaning is really what I want to know, John.
00:55No, I can't do that.
00:56That's for the robots.
00:57Muse rolling out in the U.S. on iOS, Android, and Muse AI.
01:03It's expected to launch soon on Meta's AI glasses as well.
01:09The AI agent uses Meta's Muse Spark model.
01:13It can make purchases through Stripes Link with ShopPay and 1Password.
01:18Meta says once a person shares a goal with Muse,
01:21it helps them develop a personalized plan and coordinate their time and resources and then advances the work on its
01:28own.
01:29You have a personal relationship with your personal AI assistant.
01:32Yes, this is what I need.
01:33It can open a browser, fill out forms, and negotiate on your behalf.
01:37No, I don't want it to negotiate on my behalf.
01:39Thank you very much.
01:42Okay.
01:42A Lexus would actually like.
01:45Let's do Lyft.
01:46Starting to offer Waymo robo-taxi rides.
01:49The next city they're taking aim at is Nashville.
01:51So this is the second city where it's providing driverless trips,
01:54and they're trying to play catch-up at this point with Uber.
01:58Lyft customers will be matched at no additional cost.
02:01With a Waymo autonomous vehicle, when you order a regular ride.
02:05Now, in order for a match to happen, the desired route has to start and end within the existing service
02:12area.
02:13Duh.
02:13Users can decline a driverless rider, opt-out entirely.
02:18The ride-hailing companies like Lyft and Uber,
02:20they've been partnering with robo-taxi developers.
02:23They're trying to prepare for a future where driverless vehicles could increasingly threaten their core business.
02:30We'll see if that's happened.
02:31I mean, it's just a fraction of the market right now.
02:34Uber offers Waymo rides exclusively into U.S. cities.
02:38Lately, they've had kind of a strained relationship with Waymo over issues ranging from safety, reliability,
02:46and there's also the regulatory aspect of that.
02:49For now, autonomous rides still account, again, for a real small segment of the ride-hailing market.
02:55Well, New York City did not renew their license, Waymo's license,
02:59to have their pilot program be here in New York, or even in New York State, for that matter.
03:05I mean, can you imagine?
03:06No, I can't imagine.
03:07So I think I'm on board with what city officials did here.
03:10We need a little time before we have driverless robo-taxis here in the city.
03:14My drive in and out is just riddled with, like, I'd be just obstacles coming at you from, like, 360
03:21degrees.
03:23All right, what else have we got?
03:24Apple, let's go there.
03:25John Turner's making his first public address as the CEO today.
03:30He's going to make the case for buying an iPhone that costs at least $2,000.
03:34The stocks rallied 15% since June 25th.
03:38That's when they announced it was raising prices on a lot of its products.
03:42And since then, a significant chunk of the gains have been driven by excitement about this new line of devices,
03:48particularly the foldable iPhone.
03:50But the stock remains down about 7% from the all-time high that we saw on July 28th.
03:57Investors at Apple, they're famously hard to impress on the day of iPhone events.
04:02So you've got to keep that in mind.
04:04The stock is actually, I don't know who came up with these stats, but somebody checked.
04:07The stock has fallen on five of the past eight days with new versions.
