00:00So ago that Liverpool edged a thriller here by three goals to two with their captain at the
00:06front of your screen there Virgil van Dijk netting in the 90s made it three goals in two games for
00:14the Swede. Julian Alvarez after a summer where it seemed like he was pushing for a move now it's a
00:22case of seeing if both he a new look Liverpool face a pretty familiar foe in Atletico de Madrid
00:36while Antoni Iraola is installing new ideas Atleti will have that tried and tested methodology from
00:42Diego Simeone although here's Isak early on two games and this is exactly what Antoni Iraola
00:48wants to see from his side intensity pressing and breaking at pace. That's actually the last
00:55Champions League goal that he scored here at Anfield. McAllister, Isak nice idea. Wirtz, Isak
01:05lays it off for McAllister to strike and he always felt that there was a suspicion of offside in there
01:11and there is the flag. Don't think he was off though. Might have been there.
01:25Alexander Isak looking a bit more like the player that Liverpool thought they were signing last summer
01:33with his flurry of three goals in two games. Frustrating campaign for him last season after he joined
01:42from Newcastle United. Now that looked offside against Simeone who's let it run here which is clever.
01:57He still managed to wriggle and get the shot away Julian Alvarez. High up here. Savoslai urged to hit.
02:08Bacala, McAllister, that's poor. Savoslai scampering after it and shielding it from David Hansko.
02:22Bacala took it in his stride nicely and Oblak had to make himself big.
02:35Alvarez, our lovely ball, Marcus Llorente's through and scores yet again at Anfield.
02:46Boy, does he love playing here.
02:53That's five goals in three games at Anfield for Llorente.
03:05And after Liverpool had dominated the opening exchanges, they've been caught cold after a red-hot move.
03:15Alvarez with the inch-perfect pass and Llorente timed his run absolutely perfectly
03:24and then got his finish. Bang on as well. It's a beautiful...
03:30People might be talking about an impressive Atleti victory, especially if no flag is up here against Simeone.
03:45Alvarez allowed to hit! And it was some hit to Alisson with a big hand to beat away the hit.
03:54Terrific technique from Alvarez here. On target. And plenty of...
04:02Saboslai. It's Kirchhez.
04:07I'm Oblak to the rescue to keep Bacala out. Here is Saboslai.
04:13And Saboslai!
04:15Liverpool level!
04:18Liverpool level!
04:30Llorente.
04:32It's all getting a bit fiery out there now, and Van Dijk's been done for pace by Barrios, who's cut
04:38it back nicely!
04:39And then that is hooked narrowly wide.
04:42And furious with himself for not asking the question.
04:47Barrios did ever so well to play it into his path and didn't catch it cleanly, did he?
04:57Could be another Champions League classic between these two.
05:04A thriller between the sides here a year ago and a pulsating first period at Anfield.
05:11This time around to Liverpool with more of the ball for Atleti.
05:18looking more of a threat, arguably, when they have had a sight of goal.
05:29Llorente.
05:38McAllister won the header.
05:41Ballena, though, has it back.
05:45Here's Alexis McAllister again.
05:48Bacala has done well.
05:50Look at the red getting forwards here.
05:53Cuts for Bacala!
05:58And that is a very bad miss.
06:01And the chance of a first Liverpool goal disappears.
06:08Isak blocked off.
06:09McAllister recycles.
06:11That's great for Ingemoa.
06:14That's great for Ingemoa.
06:15Isak was waiting for it.
06:17McAllister!
06:20Magnificent!
06:27For having said that he was sad about not being offered a new contract.
06:32He's very, very happy about that hit.
06:43Fired cross field and picked up by Llorente.
06:46He lost his footing but kept possession.
06:48Now Grubaldo.
06:50Now Grubaldo.
06:51He stood that up well.
06:53They're queuing up in there.
06:54And then the low drive from Julian Alvarez is safely fielded by Alisson.
07:02Liverpool have had in this second half.
07:05And they're asking there for a hand ball.
07:12Slovakia international.
07:15Normally a decent outlet on that left-hand side.
07:18The man who's played every minute so far this season.
07:21Isak now to settle it.
07:28Tried to shuffle it clear of the little man but he...
07:34They made it to all here last season at around this stage.
07:42He needed to be absolutely perfect and it's spooned off.
07:46Takes his leave.
07:49Having gone down with what looked like crap.
08:14Oh, now here's the chance.
08:16This would wrap it up.
08:17Great save on Black but the rebound's in.
08:21And Liverpool have the win.
08:26Well, they'll need to double-check it.
08:29The flag was quickly up here against Frimpong.
08:34And he is well offside.
08:37So they will need to wait to...
08:39Simakas.
08:41Gravenberg.
08:48Antonio Irola's first Champions League game as Liverpool boss ends in victory.
