00:00So since y'all seem to like when I pull the lid back on this music industry shit, we're going
00:03to talk about touring.
00:04Your favorite artist is canceling their tour this fall because of ticket sales.
00:08Might there be some extenuating circumstances, health, personal emergencies? Yes.
00:13But for the most part, when you get that ambiguous statement, it's because of ticket sales.
00:17And I know this because I've experienced this, okay?
00:20Tickets and touring is a business decision.
00:24The cost of putting on a tour is so vast, the average consumer cannot even imagine.
00:29They see tour, they think money, they think glitz, they think glam.
00:32First of all, as an artist, you are planning to go to a city where you hope to sell a
00:37certain amount of tickets to make a guarantee.
00:38You're going there to make X amount of dollars.
00:41From that X amount of dollars, everybody is eating before the artist, okay?
00:45Your agents, your managers, your personnel, the people in the band, everybody's guaranteed a cut of that.
00:51And you, as the artist, might not see anything from it, okay?
00:55A lot of artists, they don't have tour support.
00:58Some artists do.
00:59If you're signed to a major label, you might have tour support worked into your deal as a marketing expense.
01:05If that's not there, the artist is literally paying for everything out of their pocket in hopes that the money
01:10that they spend will come back with a profit.
01:13The reason this is happening so often now is because the consumer marketplace is very unpredictable.
01:19Ticket sales are slow to move.
01:22They are not being sold.
01:24They are not being purchased well in advance the way that they use when you found out that your favorite
01:28artist was coming to your local city or venue, okay?
01:31This is how it works.
01:33I know this because I just did this with my own tour.
01:36This year, I decided to restructure my tour to go to smaller rooms where I could sell them out at
01:42a higher price point and have audiences and fans where my core concentrated fans are to come and pay for
01:49the meet and greet or the merch or whatever other ways that it is that you can make money to
01:53help cover and offset the cost that you've had.
01:56All while also giving a really great experience, but when you are an artist and you're three weeks out from
02:02your tour and you haven't sold 50% of the tickets in a marketplace, you're looking at it like, dang,
02:08I don't know if I can afford to do this show.
02:10And so then you cancel the show and then you cancel another show and you cancel another marketplace.
02:15And then the next thing you know, it's not worth it to go out and do a whole tour.
02:19So you have to cancel the tour.
02:20So this is actually what's really happening and I just don't think the average person really understands that because the
02:25music industry and it's over glamorized and it's not, okay?
02:29Even if you're not going to lose money, you have to ask yourself if it's worth the time, the energy,
02:34and the strain on your health.
02:35My advice to any artist out there would be to, if you're finding it difficult to move tickets, restructure your
02:41tour.
02:42Go to a smaller room, do fewer cities, sell them joints out, and have a successful history of selling out
02:49shows, even if it's at a smaller number, and provide opportunities for you to enhance your experiences for your consumers
02:56and for your fans.
02:59See, there's a couple of things that I think is happening here.
03:02And one of them is a lot of these artists think that they're bigger than what they actually are because
03:08of the advent of social media, right?
03:10We can connect with people across the entire planet, the entire planet, from all walks of life, okay?
03:22And so it makes it seem as if they're a lot more popular than what they really are.
03:28A lot of those folks wouldn't pay to go and see that person and they find out when they start
03:34trying to book some of these giant venues and aren't selling out the venue at all.
03:39When in reality, they should have done, like she said, some smaller, more local venues rather than these large music
03:50halls and whatnot.
03:51And I think part of that, they do that in part because they don't want to feel embarrassed, right?
03:57I remember there was a mumble rapper some years ago, maybe around 2020, and he had had a concert, and
04:09I don't know why he still went through with the concert, but literally there was probably seven people.
04:16And granted, it wasn't like this giant venue or anything like that, but still, it was like, you know, a
04:22large room, right?
04:26And he wasn't packing that.
04:27So if you can't even pack a room like that, why would you even go?
04:33You know what I mean?
04:34It's like, hmm, it's a little weird, bro.
04:36Well, get a smaller room, you know, maybe do something even smaller than that, right?
04:42Or in a bigger city in a smaller venue.
04:46I'd rather do that than to have to cancel a tour because, you know, low ticket sales.
04:55But there's also something else that's going on with this, and I'll get into it here in a minute.
04:59I want to let her finish, though.
05:01For the fans, if you love an artist and they announce a tour and you really know you want to
05:05be there, purchase that ticket in advance.
05:08Purchase it because you're also really upset when the tours get canceled because you want to be there.
05:13But if you wait till the last minute, there's no indication that you are a true fan to that artist
05:17and that they can bank on your ticket sale to be able to bring that tour to your city.
05:21This has been coming up a lot in conversation.
05:22I think it's really important for people to understand the true economics behind everything and have a little bit of
05:28more insight when it comes to how you can support your favorite artists.
05:32This is why I'm always like, support your artists, support your artists.
05:35Hope that helps.
05:37Yeah.
05:37I mean, she's right.
05:39Right.
05:40They make a lot of decisions based on the ticket sales that they can, you know, see as far as
05:47whether or not they're going to go through with said venue or said tour.
05:52So by purchasing your ticket early, it keeps them, you know, at the venue.
05:58But if nobody's purchasing, well, then they're probably going to cancel because there's a lot of costs that are associated
06:04with touring.
06:06But also, I think there's something else that's going on that I find quite interesting.
06:12And, you know, Joe Rogan was asking the question as well.
06:16And I think a lot more people are starting to ask the question, too.
06:19Does the CIA or USAID have something to do with artificially propping some of these rap artists up for years?
06:29But now that a lot of that has been under scrutiny and USAID is basically shut down.
06:36Now you're seeing a lot of these rap artists struggle who were just like blooming not very long ago.
06:42So is that in connection with USAID or the CIA?
06:47I wonder.
06:48And so does Joe Rogan.
06:49This is crazy.
06:51People have long said that rap music, even though, listen, you love hip-hop.
06:58I know you just got back from Kanye West.
07:00I'm a huge hip-hop fan.
07:01We got to talk about that at some point.
07:02We definitely do.
07:03I love hip-hop.
07:04But there's some people that believe that gangster rap, in particular, when it came about in the 1980s, was a
07:12part of the push to popularize it and produce it, was a part of the government, some faction of the
07:20government, some intelligence agencies, wanting to create more crime, wanting to fill more private prisons, wanting to erode the fabric
07:30of society so they could push for more laws to keep you safer.
07:34This is like one of the most tinfoil-y of tinfoil hat conspiracies.
07:40But people are pointing out that right now it's like one of the rare times where no rap music is
07:45on the charts.
07:46And they're saying, well, how does this coincide with USAID?
07:50Was USAID like actively promoting rap music?
07:53Was that one of the reasons why rap music was so popular?
07:57Is that real?
07:59That can't be real.
08:00Maybe back in the day.
08:02It seems like that would be more manipulative.
08:05I don't see how.
08:06I believed that until I heard mumble rap.
08:08I'm like, this makes, this is not real.
08:10This is trying to make people stupid.
08:12Yeah.
08:13There's something about this.
08:14You know?
08:15And obviously some artists are better at it than others.
08:17Some of them are fun the way they do it.
08:19But I'm saying there's a giant chunk of them that are inaudible.
08:24You don't know what, like, who's into this?
08:27Oh, almost all of them are inaudible.
08:30Like, what's going on there?
08:31Imagine if, like, that was it.
08:33It was, like, people heard Nas and, like, this guy's too smart.
08:36We got to dumb it down a little.
08:38Right.
08:38We got to promote some people that can barely talk.
08:41We got to promote some people that can barely talk.
08:46Listen, I think he's on to something.
08:49Genuinely, I feel like he is on to something.
08:52And I know some folks are going to say, oh, here, there's another conspiracy theory, Rich.
08:58Yeah, but recently we've been on a hell of a streak with these conspiracy theories that actually have proven to
09:07be true.
09:09And one of you had said it best.
09:11The difference between a conspiracy theory and the truth is six to seven months.
09:17It's a conspiracy theory now, but in six or seven months, it'll be proven true.
09:22That's exactly what was happening.
09:25And, you know, I wouldn't put it past, you know, some of these government agencies to have been artificially, you
09:35know, funding, you know, advertisers and whatnot to promote this nonsense.
09:43Because now you don't see it.
09:44Like you said, if you look at if you look at the Billboard 100, the first rap song isn't until
09:51like almost the 20th spot.
09:54And then from there, it's like the next one is way, way further down when in when not too long
10:02ago, rap was like dominating, dominating those those top 20 spots.
10:09And so when you see stuff like that, it makes you makes you pause a little bit like, hmm, maybe,
10:18maybe I want to play this other clip for you.
10:20Check this.
10:22I can't even tell you how hard.
10:25I can't even tell you how hard the CIA runs the rap game.
10:28It's insane.
10:29The State Department just recently brought like 22 hip hop artists from all these different conflict zones.
10:35I can walk you through in Bangladesh how USAID was funding rap musicians, reporting back to the State Department about
10:45how the songs were designed to create street protests, producing their music videos.
10:50You're talking about ones from other countries right now.
10:51They were also working with USAID to secretly fund the hip hop movement in Cuba to overthrow the Cuban government
10:57through anti-government rap anthems, which is a huge USA.
11:02So when you hear about, you know, all of these different times where, you know, our government, our government agencies
11:09have worked to overthrow, you know, other government, other governments in other countries, you don't think that they've tried to
11:17do stuff like that here?
11:20You think they only were attempting to do it in other places?
11:24Of course not.
11:26Of course not.
11:26Um, and so when, when, when you, like, like I said, when, when you see the, you know, billboard 100
11:33absent of rap music, all of a sudden, now that USAID has been defunded and shut down basically.
11:41And, you know, just all of government has come under a whole lot of scrutiny lately.
11:47You wonder.
11:49Hmm.
11:49And then in combination with the Democrat party itself, struggling with funding, it's like, hmm, you know, was USAID funding
12:03all of this stuff?
12:03Was money just being funneled from the government through USAID and out to the Democrat party?
12:10And, you know, uh, rappers and big labels that employed a bunch of rappers and things like that to try
12:17to do whatever, dumb down the country or push whatever agenda that they felt was necessary at the time.
12:27Makes you wonder, makes you wonder.
12:30Y'all get in the comments.
12:31Let me know your thoughts and your opinions.
12:32Is this a conspiracy theory or is it true?
12:36Let me know.
12:37Peace and love.
12:39I'm out.
