A senior official from the Joint Investigation Committee (JIC) has declared that current troop positions along the Cambodia–Thailand border do not define official international boundaries.
According to reports from Thai news outlet The Thaiger, the official emphasized that while a ceasefire halts military combat, it does not create a new border. Consequently, temporary structures—including containers, barbed wire, trenches, and military posts—cannot be used to claim territorial sovereignty.
Officials stress that all boundary demarcation work must proceed strictly through the legal mechanism of the Joint Border Commission (JBC), in accordance with Clause 3 of the December 27, 2025 Joint Declaration.
