00:24The Broncos were staring down New England
00:26for a trip to the Super Bowl,
00:28and instead of panicking, Joe Lombardi and Pete Carmichael,
00:33two of Brees' old Saints assistants
00:35who were on the Broncos staff at the time,
00:38well, they went rogue.
00:39They called Drew to kick the tires
00:41to see if he could still play behind Sean Payton's back.
00:45Sean Payton, his own head coach, didn't even know
00:49and didn't even find out until this offseason,
00:51but here's what stopped it.
00:54Brees' shoulder and wrist was still messed up
