German tennis star Alexander Zverev found a playful way to tease U.S. soccer star Trinity Rodman after defeating her boyfriend, Ben Shelton, in the 2026 US Open men’s final.
Rodman had made a huge effort to support Shelton, playing a soccer match in Washington, D.C., before traveling roughly 200 miles to New York to watch the end of his championship match.
After securing the Grand Slam title, Zverev turned his attention toward Rodman during his on-court celebration.
“Trinity, I thought you have a game today,” Zverev joked, before adding that she was Shelton’s “lucky charm” — although apparently not on that particular day.
The playful exchange left Rodman, Shelton and the crowd laughing. Former NBA player Iman Shumpert later joked that Shelton should get a rematch and defend his girlfriend’s honor.
The moment quickly became a lighthearted highlight from the US Open final, adding some fun off-court drama to an already memorable match.
