00:00It's quite possible that you've already heard about the spirit of Jezebel at least once in your life,
00:07but the vast majority of people believe that it's only connected to the sins of prostitution and perversion.
00:15But in reality, it's not just that.
00:18The spirit of Jezebel has many characteristics that hinder the growth of the church and keep people away from the
00:25presence of God.
00:28And you must be wondering, Pastor, who was Jezebel?
00:33Jezebel is considered the worst woman in the entire Old Testament.
00:38She was married to King Ahab and brought pagan practices to Israel that greatly displeased God.
00:46She was a very evil queen, who promoted idolatry and killed many prophets.
00:52Besides convincing her husband to worship another god instead of the Lord, she supported 850 prophets of the gods Baal
01:01and Asherah.
01:03These prophets performed detestable rituals, provoking God's wrath.
01:11The evil that dwelled in Jezebel's heart was so great, so strong, that even Elijah, one of the greatest and
01:19most important prophets ever raised by God, fled in fear of that woman's threats and even asked the Lord to
01:25kill him.
01:27In the book of 1 Kings, chapter 19, it is written, Elijah was afraid and fled to save his life.
01:36In Beresheba in Judah, he left his servant and went into the desert, walking for a day.
01:43He came to a broom tree, sat down under it and prayed, asking for death.
01:48I've had enough, Lord, take my life.
01:51I'm no better than my ancestors.
01:56But Jezebel was punished.
01:59God filled Elijah with courage and he returned and prophesied that woman would have a bloody death and that dogs
02:06would eat her corpse.
02:08And that's exactly what happened.
02:11The Bible says that a man named Jehu killed Jezebel's son and because of that, she challenged him.
02:19So Jehu sent some men to kill her.
02:22They stormed the palace and threw Jezebel out the window.
02:27Jehu then trampled that woman with his horses.
02:31When they went to bury her, they only found her skull, her feet and her hands, because the dogs had
02:38eaten everything else.
02:41Jezebel's actions against God's people were so destructive that her name was adopted by a very powerful evil spirit,
02:49whose only goal is to destroy God's authority, and its favorite target is the church.
02:57Unfortunately, in almost every Christian community, there is a Jezebel who deceives people and hinders their spiritual growth.
03:07And God wants to use us to defeat this evil spirit so that his people can be blessed.
03:13But how can we find out if the spirit of Jezebel is among us?
03:19There are some characteristics that can indicate if there is a Jezebel in your church.
03:24And the first one is prostitution.
03:28In the book of Kings, chapter 9, it says that Jezebel was a vain woman and used to getting what
03:35she wanted through seduction.
03:39In the Bible, the term prostitution means infidelity, both marital and spiritual.
03:45When a person is not faithful to God, they are committing spiritual prostitution, because Jesus said that no one can
03:53serve two masters.
03:55And witchcraft practiced both sexual prostitution, betraying her husband, and witchcraft, betraying the God of Israel.
04:03The spirit of Jezebel enters churches through people who are not living a holy life.
04:10That's why pastors and other leaders must be careful with whom they put before the altar to minister.
04:17I know that we are all flawed sinners, but the person who is leading any department in the church needs
04:24to be living a holy life.
04:25A person who is living in sin, like fornication and prostitution, for example, is not ready to lead, because they
04:34need to be restored.
04:35And we should do this with love, and a lot of patience, never exposing anyone in public.
04:42Besides this situation, there is also spiritual prostitution.
04:46Many church members are rebellious toward the community where they gather.
04:51People like that jump from place to place, looking for someone who pleases them.
04:58And every day, they look for a church and a pastor who does their will.
05:02And when they are not satisfied, they create trouble so that the leadership is harmed.
05:08The second characteristic of the spirit of Jezebel is idolatry.
05:13The Bible says that Jezebel worshipped idols and had an army of prophets with more than 850 men supported by
05:22her to worship strange gods.
05:25Today, we hardly see this kind of practice, but idolatry goes far beyond carved images.
05:33Idolatry is anything that takes God's place in our hearts, because the Lord should be the priority in our lives.
05:41For example, today there is a Christian celebrity culture where personalities, like singers and pastors, stand out more for their
05:50charisma and talent than for their faith in Jesus, and that's where the spirit of Jezebel acts.
05:55It makes people worship the Christian celebrity more than the Lord himself, and this is something that God hates.
06:04The third characteristic of the spirit of Jezebel is manipulation.
06:10Jezebel was manipulative.
06:11In other words, she wanted everything to go her way.
06:15So much so that she convinced her husband to abandon the God of Israel and worship the God Baal.
06:21Besides that, she was very envious.
06:25So much so that once she made up a lie to kill a man named Naboth.
06:30Just because her husband wanted his land, so she took the life and property of an innocent man.
06:38A manipulative person lies to get what they want, betrays or stabs others in the back, and takes revenge on
06:46those who don't do their will.
06:48The spirit of Jezebel enters many churches through people who want to control everything.
06:55Some of these people already hold positions of authority professionally and reflect that inside the church, thinking they can give
07:03orders to their brothers as if they were employees or subordinates at work.
07:09Church is not a place to mistreat anyone, but rather to show love and fellowship.
07:15And if someone has a position of authority in society, that stays outside.
07:20But in the church, we are all brothers.
07:23And we must serve one another in love, as the Apostle Paul said in Galatians 5.
07:29That's why we must be careful when putting someone in leadership who does not treat the brothers well.
07:36And finally, the fourth characteristic of the spirit of Jezebel is persecution.
07:42This woman persecuted God's prophets to the point that many had to hide so they wouldn't be killed.
07:49Many prophets even died because of Jezebel and Elijah himself was threatened by her.
07:55One of the reasons for this persecution is because the prophets of that time spoke the truth and not what
08:01Jezebel and her husband wanted to hear.
08:05In the same way, the spirit of Jezebel can be seen in churches where people are persecuted by their own
08:11brothers.
08:13There are churches where everything is already so settled that when a man or woman of God proposes changes, they
08:21start to be persecuted.
08:23And facing external persecution from people or situations that come from outside the church is something normal, but the spirit
08:31of Jezebel acts inside the church.
08:33This is a strategy of the enemy to weaken the people of God because, Jesus said, every kingdom divided against
08:42itself will be ruined and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.
08:50That's why be very careful with people who speak badly about other brothers or who persecute leaders and members because
08:57they are being used by the spirit of Jezebel.
09:01I know that we don't have to agree with everything we see and hear in the church, but God calls
09:07us to intercede and exhort if necessary, not to cause divisions or fights.
09:13And as we saw at the beginning of this video, the end of Jezebel's life was terrible.
09:19Furthermore, in the book of Revelation, Jesus gives the following warning to the church of Thyatira for tolerating the spirit
09:27of Jezebel among his people.
09:30He said, I know your deeds, your love, your faith, your service, and your perseverance, and I know that you
09:39are doing more now than at the beginning.
09:41However, I have this against you.
09:44You tolerate Jezebel, that woman who calls herself a prophetess.
09:49With her teachings, she leads my servants into sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols.
09:57I gave her time to repent of her sexual immorality, but she does not want to repent.
10:03That is why I will make her sick and bring great suffering to those who commit adultery with her, unless
10:09they repent of the deeds she practices.
10:14I will kill the children of this woman, then all the churches will know that I am the one who
10:19searches minds and hearts, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.
10:25So, if in your church there is someone with these characteristics, start praying for her.
10:32She may be under the control of a demonic spirit that needs to be cast out.
10:38But be careful not to let yourself be used by the enemy by gossiping and slandering this person.
10:46Love is the fulfillment of the law, and as Christians we must seek peace above all else.
10:53Many of these people are just religious, who have not yet had a true experience with God, and they need
11:00us to bless them.
11:02Now, if the person does not accept help, there is nothing that can be done.
11:07The Bible is very clear about what God will do with those who let any demonic spirit dominate their lives.
11:15The psalmist wrote,
11:18Therefore, the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous.
11:24For the Lord approves the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked leads to destruction.
11:35When people talk about evangelical pastors, most people have in mind the image of someone who exploits the word of
11:43the Lord and the faith of innocent people to make a profit.
11:46They see the church as a big business made to deceive and generate wealth for its leaders.
11:51But even though, unfortunately, many false men of God live in luxury at the expense of their faithful followers, we
11:59know that there are many serious spiritual leaders who are committed to their ministries.
12:04And it's a great injustice to generalize as if all these people were corrupt and lacked character.
12:11The problem is that the mainstream media doesn't seem to be concerned at all about showing this difference to society.
12:18A pastor only makes the news on TV because of some corruption scandal, like the Universal Church case in the
12:2490s, or in even more serious situations, like the story of Pastor Flor Delis.
12:30We never hear, on Jornal Nacional, for example, about the pastors who are saving the lives of underprivileged children in
12:37Africa, nor about those who are being persecuted and killed in the Middle East and Asia simply for preaching the
12:44gospel of Christ.
12:45That's why in this video I'm going to teach you how to tell the difference between a true and a
12:49false pastor, and show you why this is so important in your work with God.
12:54I'm also going to talk about the dangers that the greed of these false religious leaders can bring to people,
13:00deceiving them, like wolves in sheep's clothing.
13:03In a world full of injustices and inequalities, the need for people to seek God's comfort is growing more and
13:10more.
13:11People are deeply vulnerable and in need of someone to help them take care of their spiritual lives.
13:18And it was by taking advantage of this moment of human fragility that the false pastors appeared and are spreading
13:24everywhere, with their false teachings about the word of God, always seeking their own benefit, without caring about the souls
13:31they have under their responsibility.
13:32But anyone who thinks this is a current problem is mistaken.
13:37God was already condemning these people thousands of years ago.
13:41In the Old Testament the term pastor didn't exist yet.
13:44These men were known as false prophets and the Lord used Jeremiah to speak about these deceivers who misled people
13:50in his name.
13:51In Jeremiah 14, God said that what those men were saying about him was a lie, and that he had
14:00not sent them, nor given them any command, nor spoken to them.
14:05They were prophesying to the people false visions, useless divinations, and illusions from their own minds.
14:11And do you realize that the same thing is still happening today?
14:15There are many out there who claim to be men of God and who are speaking in his name, declaring
14:20healing, restoration, and prophesying financial prosperity in exchange for money, but in reality they have nothing to do with the
14:28Lord.
14:29Their only purpose is to deceive.
14:32The Bible describes false prophets as adulterers, reckless, drunkards, wicked, liars, and they are involved with divination and witchcraft.
14:43And you might be wondering now, but how am I going to be able to tell a true pastor from
14:48a false one?
14:49The prophet Jeremiah, who was a true man of God, said that the difference between one and the other was
14:56in their source of information.
14:58Instead of speaking the word of the Lord, the false prophets delivered messages that came from their own hearts and
15:04minds.
15:04Look at what is written.
15:07Do not listen to what the prophets are prophesying to you.
15:11They fill you with false hopes, they speak of visions they made up themselves and not from the mouth of
15:17the Lord.
15:18In other words, if you receive the promise that you will get a financial blessing very soon, that you will
15:23get a new car by the end of the year,
15:25or that the love of your life will show up at your door when you least expect it, don't put
15:29too much faith in that message.
15:32It's not that God can't give you these things.
15:35He can, of course.
15:37But the chances that this pastor said that just to please you, fill you with hope, and make you give
15:42back with your resources are very high.
15:46And I'll put a video link here at the end that shows how to know if a prophecy comes from
15:50God or not, okay?
15:53And another difference between true pastors and false ones is their motivation.
15:58The true ones are motivated by loyalty to God above all else.
16:01They want to spread the truth that exists in the Bible no matter the price they have to pay, whether
16:07they'll be cancelled by the media or online.
16:09While false pastors are motivated by their own self-interest and by the desire to maintain a good image with
16:16those outside the church,
16:18because they are more concerned with being politically correct than anything else.
16:22And this also happened at times of Jeremiah, while he was announcing that Jerusalem would go through very difficult times,
16:29and because of that the people should repent of their sins and turn back to the Lord.
16:35But the false men of God prophesied peace, because that was what people wanted to hear.
16:41And guess whose side the people took? The false pastors.
16:45But they ended up paying a high price for that.
16:47And another thing you should pay attention to is the fruits of these pastors.
16:51Jesus warned about the dangers of pastors, who pretend to be good people, but aren't.
16:56In fact, they only want to kill, steal and destroy.
17:00He said that these men are like wolves in sheep's clothing, and that we can know them by the things
17:06they do.
17:07Like trees, which are known by their fruits, good trees bear good fruit, and bad trees bear bad fruit.
17:14And Jesus explained that in the end, people who do evil, even if they say they do it in God's
17:20name, will be rejected by Him.
17:22So, take a good look at how this man treats his wife, his children, and especially those who can't offer
17:27him any kind of financial return.
17:30Brothers, understanding the difference between the true pastor and the false pastor is very important for any Christian.
17:37That's because a pastor, according to the Bible, is not just someone who leads worship or preaches sermons.
17:43But he is a spiritual guide, whose life and teachings should reflect those of Jesus Christ.
17:49And the Bible clearly shows us what this true leader should be like.
17:53In Ephesians chapter 4, the Apostle Paul wrote that Christ gave gifts to the church, including apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors
18:02and teachers.
18:04The purpose of these gifts is for our growth, for the work of the ministry, and for the building up
18:10of the church.
18:11This shows that the role of a pastor goes beyond just preaching.
18:15He must equip and strengthen the members of the church, helping them to grow spiritually.
18:20Furthermore, in 1 Timothy, chapter 3, Paul mentions that whoever desires to be a pastor, desires a very noble position.
18:30And because of that, he must be blameless, the husband of one wife, sober, prudent, respectable, hospitable and able to
18:39teach.
18:40And these qualities are fundamental, not because God wants a perfect person leading the church, since that's impossible.
18:46The Lord expects the pastor to have all these characteristics, because he needs to be an example for other people.
18:52And a true pastor also needs to have his life in accordance with what the Bible teaches.
18:57In other words, he can't preach one thing from the pulpit and live something completely different in his own life.
19:04Only false pastors do that.
19:06Besides that, his ministry is not motivated by his salary or by any personal gain he might have, but rather
19:13by his calling to serve and guide God's people.
19:16Of course, the pastor's salary is important, and he can also have other personal earnings besides the ministry.
19:23After all, he has a family to care for and feed, and God wants to bless his children.
19:28But this issue is just a consequence of his work and nothing more.
19:33And another important thing that only the true pastor does, is that he teaches the truth that is in the
19:38Bible,
19:39helping us understand what God wants to tell us in His Word, and making us apply these truths in our
19:44daily lives.
19:45A false pastor never does that, because he knows that the truth sets us free.
19:51And these evil men don't want to see us free, they want people to remain trapped in their lies.
19:57And their bank accounts.
19:59Brothers, the Lord touched my heart to bring this message today, because unfortunately,
20:04many Christians are being deceived by these false spiritual leaders, charismatic and convincing.
20:11They come with beautiful speeches full of promises of prosperity, but they lack the most important thing,
20:17the desire to teach you the truth of the Gospel.
20:20There are also those who have millions of followers on the internet, who bless glasses of water,
20:26relatives' ID documents, car keys, and promise blessings and more blessings.
20:31They only talk about debts that will be paid, illnesses that will be healed, weddings that will take place,
20:37but they don't talk about the God who stays by our side, even when the storm takes a long time
20:43to pass.
20:44The Father who stays with us in times of mourning and pain.
20:47They also don't preach about a life of renouncing sin, showing that every Christian must carry their cross.
20:53So, in order for you not to be deceived anymore, it's important for you to know the Bible very well,
20:58and pray for discernment.
21:00And the true pastor is someone who cares for the sheep with love and dedication, teaching the word of the
21:07Lord with faithfulness,
21:08and living a life that glorifies Christ.
21:11And, as members of the Church, we have the responsibility to support and follow leaders who demonstrate these qualities,
21:19not placing heavy burdens on them, but supporting them, ensuring that the Church grows in faith and grace,
21:25under true leadership and inspired by God.
