00:00If you ever find yourself stuck in the trunk of your car, stay calm.
00:04All cars are supposed to be equipped with an emergency latch
00:07to help open the trunk from the inside in the unlikely case it happens.
00:12These latches are so well thought out that they can be opened by people of all ages.
00:17More so, handles are designed to glow in the dark, too.
00:20You can even pull them with a mouth if there's not enough wiggle room to use your hands.
00:25Never mind how you ended up in the trunk in the first place.
00:28Moving on!
00:29If you're ever working with needle and thread,
00:32remember you don't need to stick the needle directly into the spool.
00:36You may end up losing the needle altogether.
00:38Not to mention you can easily hurt your fingers!
00:41A lot of modern sewing kits these days come with a designated place for safeguarding the needles.
00:47It's located at the bottom part of the thread spool.
00:50You'll just need to pull it out.
00:51It's even made to hold multiple sewing needles at a time.
00:56Disposable ballpoint pens come with a little secret of their own.
01:00Did you ever notice that in some of them, there's a small hole in the plastic part?
01:04It's actually a rudimentary ventilation system.
01:08It's supposed to let the ink easily make it to the tip of the pen.
01:12Okay, I know it's in the name, but you really don't need to shake the seasoning shaker to get any
01:17product out.
01:18Don't believe me?
01:20Hey, you're not the only one.
01:21Go grab your favorite seasoning bottle out of your pantry.
01:25If it has one of those removable plastic caps, it's perfect for the experiment.
01:30Instead of shaking the bottle, try holding it from the plastic cap while it's upside down.
01:35Now gently twist the bottle from side to side and, before you know it,
01:40you get some gorgeously flowing seasoning without having to wiggle the shaker and make a mess all over the stove.
01:47On the same note, most salt and pepper shakers should have ridges on the bottom of the glass portion.
01:53In case you get any seasoning stuck in there,
01:56place the bottom of the salt shaker against the bottom of the pepper shaker and wiggle it around,
02:01so the ridges click with each other.
02:03The seasoning should easily pour out now without you having to open the bottle.
02:08In colder weather, you often have so many clothing layers on you
02:12that you can hardly feel the purse or back straps on your shoulder anymore.
02:16Not to mention how fast they can slide off.
02:19Some jackets come with a built-in solution for that,
02:22in the form of a small tab on the shoulder with either a hook or a button.
02:27It's meant to be opened and closed comfortably,
02:29so you can keep your purse in place at any time.
02:34You're most likely using it merely to peel the skin of potatoes, carrots, or cucumbers.
02:39But you can use your vegetable peeler for chopping fine strips of onion as well.
02:44Just cut the onion into quarters vertically and then start slicing.
02:48This might also help out with those embarrassing onion tears.
02:53Most people miss this one, but should you ever have a closer look at your toothpaste tube,
02:58you will surely see some sort of coloring there, either a dot or a block.
03:03Colors can vary.
03:04They can be black, green, red, or even blue.
03:08These color spots are actually meant to help the assembly machines back at the toothpaste factory.
03:13They recognize when and where these machines need to cut the toothpaste tubes
03:17and proceed to fold them for packaging.
03:20For most types of footwear, if there's anything that seems a bit out of place,
03:24always know that it's there for a reason.
03:27Most manufacturers don't put extra items on shoes just for fun.
03:31It would definitely be a waste of time and resources.
03:34For footwear, like boots, for example, there's often a small loop at the top back of the shoe.
03:40It's there to help you when you need to put the shoe on, since you can quickly pull on it.
03:44Plus, you can also hang the shoes somewhere, most likely to dry,
03:48since most boots are meant to be worn in the colder weather.
03:52Now, I've been guilty at least once of overdressing with a bunch of layers,
03:57just so I won't need to jam everything in my check-in bag.
04:00But does it become a problem when you actually have to get seated?
04:04What do you do with your coat or your jacket?
04:06Well, have a closer look next time you board a plane on the seat in front of you.
04:11The hook that keeps the tray table upright can double as a jacket hook.
04:16As long as you don't need to have any meals while in the air, you're good to go.
04:21Now, most mascaras expire within 3 to 6 months, I'm told, depending on the manufacturer.
04:27But you can help speed up that process if you're not careful enough.
04:31Continuously pumping the mascara wand, trying to mix in the product,
04:35actually pushes more air into the tube.
04:38This can make it dry much faster, and you evidently won't get the desired results with it anymore.
04:44There's an easy way to check if your mascara is still good enough to use.
04:48If you don't hear a popping noise when you take the brush out,
04:51you may very well need to go get yourself a new mascara tube.
04:55Now, I know we're living in the era of Bluetooth-connected devices.
05:00But for better quality sound, they still recommend using headphones that connect via audio jacks.
05:07Remember seeing black ridges on those jacks?
05:10They aren't there just to make them fit when you plug them into your phone or laptop.
05:14Made out of a special insulating material,
05:17these bands are meant to guard the wires when sound is being transmitted.
05:21Based on the number of bands, you can figure out which end goes where.
05:25Some empty space under noodles in a cup doesn't mean the company producing them
05:30wants to cheat you out of a full portion.
05:32No, no.
05:33It's a manner of keeping the noodles intact during their transportation.
05:37It also helps with the circulation of hot water that is poured over the products
05:41before you can enjoy them.
05:43The V-shaped neckline was initially designed to serve a bunch of objectives.
05:48First, as a way of prolonging the life of the garment that would maintain its shape over the years.
05:53It's also there to fit your head through the shirt in case it needs some stretching.
05:58This way, it ensures a snugger grip around the neck.
06:01Lastly, it helps absorb sweat in case you're wearing the shirt while exercising.
06:07Now, it's not necessarily a custom anymore,
06:09but you may have stumbled upon a dinner jacket with an additional mysterious pocket on the right side.
06:15Turns out, this pocket was used by men to easily reach their train tickets,
06:20since most of them had to travel to work every day.
06:23It helped them keep their jacket buttoned up, but also benefited from the use of a pocket.
06:29Now, it's only added as a decoration, and it doesn't serve an actual purpose anymore.
06:34Speaking of things we don't use these days, or at least for their initial purpose,
06:39did you know Play-Doh was originally a cleaning product?
06:42In the 1920s, the market was in need of a product
06:46that could help them wipe the wallpapered areas around coal-burning furnaces.
06:50The recipe for what we now know as Play-Doh was thus invented.
06:55It was manufactured in white only,
06:57and was supposed to clean wallpaper by being rolled back and forth over the dirt.
07:02It was only later, in the 1940s, that new products for cleaning wallpaper were brought up,
07:08and Play-Doh was redirected toward another area of the market.
07:12Now, while I enjoy a nice piece of toast for breakfast,
07:16isn't it pesky to have to clean out the toaster?
07:19Well, not anymore, since I recently found out that toasters have a slide or a panel at the bottom
07:25that helps get rid of all those annoying breadcrumbs easily.
07:32Now, there used to be a time when you could only have access to video games
07:36by inserting cartridges in your console of choice.
07:39These tiny objects gave many doctors a lot of headaches.
07:43People soon started popping up in hospitals after swallowing small game cartridges,
07:49especially the younger generation.
07:51Nintendo, the company that manufactures the majority of these devices,
07:55had to come up with a creative solution to prevent these accidents.
07:59So, these days, Nintendo Switch cartridges are purposely coated with specific chemicals
08:04that can leave a really bad bitter taste in the mouth.
08:08Not that I'd, you know, recommend you ever try and taste for yourself.
08:12Hmm.
08:13Now, a basic sponge and baking soda can make a great eraser for little grease spots,
08:18fingerprints, and stains on your walls, or many other painted areas, such as furniture or wood fences.
08:25Just sprinkle a bit of baking soda on your dry sponge and scrub the stain area in a circular motion.
08:31And then, use a clean, dry cloth to wipe the baking soda off to get rid of any remaining dirt.
08:36If you're worried that this technique might ruin the paint,
08:40try just a bit of soda first and see how the surface reacts.
08:44If you want to extract the maximum amount of juice from your lemon or lime,
08:49put them first in a microwave for 15 seconds.
08:52After that, give them a little roll on a hard surface.
08:55And now, feel free to use your manual juicer.
08:59When you smash some glass or pottery on the floor,
09:02it can be pretty hard to notice and pick up all the tiny fragments.
09:06Especially if the glass is transparent.
09:08Guess what can help you?
09:10A slice of bread!
09:12After you remove all the big pieces,
09:14carefully wipe a thick slice of bread across the floor to pick up any tiny fragments.
09:19They should just get stuck in the bread.
09:21But make sure to do this very carefully, or just put on protective gloves.
09:25And don't, absentmindedly, make yourself a sandwich right afterwards.
09:29Hey, just saying.
09:31If you're a huge fan of garlic, here's a tip for you.
09:34Cut one garlic bulb in half and rub an empty bowl for a nice flavor.
09:39Now, you can put your pasta, risotto, or salad in the bowl and enjoy your meal.
09:45Pringles tubes are made from a mixture of paper, plastic, and metal,
09:49which makes them a good option to organize groceries.
09:52You can paint the tubes in a plain color to make them match your stylish, minimalistic kitchen,
09:58and then attach removable labels on the side.
10:01Have you ever struggled with threading a needle?
10:04Here's an easy way out.
10:05Place your toothbrush on the table and put the thread across the bristles of the brush.
10:10Now gently push the needle down over the top.
10:14The bristles will help you poke the thread up through the eye effortlessly.
10:18Once you've got the loop, just use your fingers to pull it through.
10:22If you've got these annoying tea stains on your favorite mug that won't wash off,
10:27try to apply some toothpaste to your sponge.
10:29This is also applicable when you need to make your dirty cutlery shine.
10:34It's best to use a mildly abrasive sponge.
10:36It's pretty helpful when it comes to removing dark spots on dishes.
10:41Now let's say you've recently received a really gorgeous bouquet,
10:45but the flowers got this sad look in a blink of an eye.
10:48You can extend their living very easily and almost free of charge.
10:53First, fill the vase or vase with fresh water and put a couple of teaspoons of sugar.
10:59This will help to nourish the flowers.
11:01Before you put the flowers back into the vase, cut about an inch off the stem.
11:06But make sure to slice it at an angle like this.
11:09This trick will increase the surface of water absorption.
11:13Repeat this with all the stems, especially with hard ones.
11:16Now put the bouquet back into the vase or vase.
11:20The flowers should cheer up within 12 hours.
11:23If you suffer from cold feet, put them into a vase or vase.
11:28Now wait, use a hairdryer to warm up your slippers before using them.
11:32This tip is also applicable to your outdoor winter shoes.
11:36Speaking of feet, pew!
11:38There's a great way to get rid of unpleasant smells.
11:40Apply about 10 drops of your favorite essential oil on two cotton balls.
11:46Now place the balls into the shoes and leave them overnight.
11:50Remove them in the morning and enjoy the fancy smell.
11:53You can also mix a couple of your favorite fragrances to customize your shoe fragrance even more.
11:59If your drain is a bit dirty and smelly, there's an epic tip to solve this issue.
12:04Put down a couple of spoonfuls of baking soda and pour down a little vinegar.
12:09And now step back and enjoy the show.
12:11It will foam up and help loosen any dirt.
12:14We've all tried to light a match outdoors in windy weather and failed.
12:19Well, we've been doing it all wrong.
12:21There's an easy way to prepare a matchstick in advance using a sharp knife.
12:26Carefully carve back the four corners just behind the head of the matchstick.
12:31Then repeat the same technique one more time so it looks like this.
12:35These eight little splinters will help create a stronger wind-resistant flame.
12:40If you have a small wardrobe with limited space for hanging new clothes,
12:45remove some metal pull tabs from the tops of old drinking cans.
12:48They can make the perfect holding loops for fixing the second hanger.
12:52Just put the ring over the hook.
12:55This is how you can double and even triple the storage space on one hanging rail.
13:00If you need to make an emergency candle, you can use one very common item from your fridge.
13:06Have you guessed what it is?
13:07Butter.
13:08Cut off a piece of chilled butter and place it on a heat-proof dish.
13:12Poke a hole straight down through the center using a toothpick or a wooden stick.
13:17Now, we need a wick.
13:18You can use a common cotton string or twine.
13:21Cut the corresponding length and poke it through the hole so it goes all the way to the bottom of
13:26your candle.
13:27Gently coat the end of the wick with butter and light up your brand-new DIY candle.
13:33Use hair-straightening tongs to smooth out those annoying creases on your tie.
13:37Or, let's say you're working in a shop and you have to deal with fluffy piles of cash.
13:42The tongs will help you iron your money to put them in smaller stacks, which then fit neatly into your
13:48backpack.
13:49Hey, let's not go there.
13:52Wow, this zipper is tough.
13:54Why can't it slide smoothly like all other zippers?
13:57But don't rush to throw away your coat.
14:00Grab a bar of soap and gently rub it up and down against the zipper.
14:04Repeat it on both sides.
14:06Can you feel the difference?
14:08Cut one leg off your old tights and put two long cardboard tubes inside it.
14:14Go ahead and thread it under your internal door with one tube on each side.
14:18This will protect you from any draft because the tights will seal up any gap under the floor.
14:24You can also use this trick when you need to make a full block out in the room.
14:28Just make sure to use thick black tights.
14:31Let's say you're visiting a conference in another city, and your schedule will be very busy.
14:37You can prepare your outfits for each day in advance
14:40and put them into different compartments of your hanging clothes storage organizer this way.
14:45Now, put it right down into your suitcase, zip it, and you're ready to go.
14:50When you arrive at the hotel, you can just carefully pull out this organizer
14:54and hang it in the closet in just two seconds.
14:57But don't forget to take the shoes, too.
15:00Is there a way to drive a nail into a wall without hurting your fingers?
15:04The answer is yes.
15:06Grab your comb and push the nail in between the prongs.
15:10This way, you'll keep your fleshy fingers far away and safe.
15:14And once you've got it started, you can easily slide out the comb and finish driving the nail.
15:20If you need an emergency metal scrubby sponge to wash your pot or pan, use a piece of tinfoil.
15:26Crumple it up into a ball, apply a little bit of dish soap, and your brand-new sponge is ready.
15:32Now, start scrubbing and get ready to be amazed.
15:35It works really well, huh?
15:37By the way, the tinfoil doesn't have to be new.
15:40You can recycle the piece you've already used for cooking.
15:43And the final tip is for perfectionists.
15:46If your showerhead has a hard water buildup, the water won't come out straight.
15:51To fix this, fill a plastic bag with plain white vinegar.
15:55Then put the showerhead inside the bag, attach it with a band, and leave it overnight.
16:01In the morning, you can give your showerhead a little scrub with an old toothbrush or clothesbrush.
16:06This should help remove the remaining hard water dirt.
16:09This trick is also applicable for faucet heads.
16:14Now, here's a trick.
16:16Instead of putting the box grater vertically on top of a plate, put it horizontally, with no plate underneath, of
16:22course.
16:22This way, you won't risk scraping your knuckles, because only your fingertips will eventually touch the grater when you reach
16:28the end of the process.
16:29Also, it gives the grater more stability, when otherwise, you'd have to balance the grater or even hold it in
16:36the air with the other hand.
16:37When you're done, or when there's just too much grated stuff on the bottom wall of the grater, simply turn
16:43it on its side to pour the contents into the bowl or plate.
16:47Flowers in a vase would stay fresher for longer if not for the bacteria that breed in the water.
16:52Since copper has some antibacterial properties, dropping a penny into the water will help keep the microbes at bay and
16:59let you enjoy your flowers for that little bit longer.
17:02An easy way to check if your bed linen has dried completely is to put a small mirror in between
17:08the layers for about 5 minutes.
17:10If the mirror has steamed up when you pick it up, it means the sheets are still a bit damp.
17:15Let them dry until the mirror stops getting cloudy.
17:18A damp bed is a lovely breeding ground for fungi and bacteria.
17:23Okay, I'm in.
17:24If you have a not-very-healthy habit of eating in front of your computer, you'll be surprised at how
17:31much crumbs and grime there is inside your keyboard.
17:34Now, you can just turn it over and shake it vigorously, of course, but that's not very good for any
17:40piece of tech, you know.
17:41So instead, take a post-it note and run its sticky part over the keyboard.
17:46It will collect the little pieces of trash like magic.
17:49Even a better way to do it, though, is to take a slime and stick it to the keyboard, then
17:54take it away, squeeze it, and stick again in another part.
17:58The slime will fill the entire space between the keys, and its sticky properties will let it gather every little
18:04bit of garbage.
18:06Separating egg yolks from whites is easier using a plastic bottle.
18:10Break the necessary number of eggs into a bowl and then take an empty plastic bottle and squeeze it.
18:16Hold the bottle over the yolk and release.
18:19It'll pull in air and the yolk together, leaving the white in the bowl.
18:23Repeat with the rest of the yolks and you're done!
18:25And that's no yolk!
18:28If you're tired of spitting out the stones when eating cherries or want to make a cherry pie, push the
18:34stones out with a straw.
18:36Also, many garlic presses have a special tool on their handle that can be used exactly for that.
18:42Cleaning a blender can be a nuisance if you do it manually.
18:45Instead, fill it with hot water and add some liquid soap or detergent, then run it for about 10 seconds.
18:51Rinse it afterwards, and it's clean.
18:54Plaster walls can crumble, flake, and spread dust all over the floor when you hammer nails into it.
18:59Cut a strip of masking tape and stick it to the place you want to hammer a nail in.
19:04The tape won't let the plaster crack and crumble, leaving the hole neat and clean.
19:10Small scratches and dents on wooden furniture can be removed with some toothpaste or a walnut.
19:16For toothpaste, rub a pea-sized amount of it into the scratch until it's gone, then wipe the leftovers with
19:22a damp cloth.
19:23For a walnut, take a half of that brain-shaped nut and rub it into the dent.
19:28Then rub the area with your fingers and buff it with a soft cloth.
19:32This'll help the wood absorb the oil from the nut, making the scratch sealed and gone.
19:38The sticky residue on jars left after you removed the stickers won't be easily removed by water and detergent.
19:44So take some vegetable oil instead.
19:47Soak a cotton pad in it and wipe the sticky surface.
19:50Let it sit for a while and then wash the oil away together with the residue.
19:55If you can't comfortably reach the wick of a candle with a lighter, hey, take a stick of spaghetti.
20:01Light up its end and you'll get a burning stick that's easy to use for hard-to-reach places.
20:07Now, next time your razor blade's getting dull, try rubbing it backwards on a pair of jeans for regular upkeep.
20:14Not while you're wearing them, of course.
20:16Make sure you keep the blades dry, too, or even kept in mineral oil.
20:20That'll stop them from rusting.
20:22Keep all those jelly, ketchup, peanut butter, and mayo fresher for longer in your fridge by turning the contents upside
20:29down.
20:30This creates a partial vacuum inside the container, helping prevent mold growth.
20:35Storing ice cream upside down will prevent freezer burn, too.
20:38To bring your permanent marker back to life, simply put a few drops of rubbing alcohol into the felt material
20:45inside and shake.
20:47Once the felt absorbs the rubbing alcohol for a couple of minutes, the marker will be almost as good as
20:53new.
20:54Now, don't keep throwing away lettuce that goes black too quickly.
20:58Covering it with a dry paper towel and then placing it in an airtight container will help it keep fresher
21:03for much longer.
21:04This goes for any leafy greens you've got leftovers of.
21:08That sharpish bit sticking out of the cap of your favorite cream is there for a reason.
21:14These tubes are usually sealed with foil, so unless you love breaking your nails trying to open them, just flip
21:20the cap over and push.
21:22Your bobby pins might not stay in place if the grooves aren't facing the right way.
21:27They should always be on the bottom, close to your head.
21:30Still coming loose?
21:31Well, put a squeeze of hairspray right onto the bobby pin before you put it in your hair.
21:36Now, your cotton rounds pack has those strings on it, so you can hang it on a handy hook in
21:41the bathroom.
21:42But there's no need to loosen and tighten it back up every time.
21:46Check out the bottom of the pack.
21:48It has a perforated line.
21:50Tear it open carefully, and you're good to go.
21:53Two zips too much?
21:55Maybe.
21:56But they come in handy as a clever anti-theft device.
21:59Just lock them together.
22:00Now, no one can open your backpack.
22:03Don't have a lock on you?
22:04You can also tie them together with some string, or even just a paper clip.
22:09Anything to slow those pickpockets down.
22:12That tiny little button on the back of a shirt collar is used to hold your tie in place.
22:17Hey, you don't want your tie trying to escape back there.
22:21Shoe manufacturers care about their customers.
22:23So, most running shoes now have a special anti-blister system pre-installed.
22:29Sounds intense, but it's basically just that extra hole on top of your sneakers.
22:33Make a loop with the extra hole, inserting the lace backward.
22:37Cross your laces and put them through the loops.
22:39Now, pull the laces down to lock your foot in place.
22:43Now, run.
22:44Yeah, go ahead.
22:46Car headrests are all about comfort, and detachable headrests are all about safety.
22:51If you pull the headrest out, you'll see two sturdy metal bars.
22:55If you ever get locked or trapped in your car, you can use the bars to smash the window and
23:00get out.
23:02If you've got some pesky parsley stuck in your teeth, try this tip.
23:06It can be hard to get it out with loose floss.
23:09You need more tension, so just tie it in a knot.
23:12It's not an accident that soy sauce bottles have two spouts.
23:16The sauce is liquid, and it flows out of the bottle pretty easily once you turn it over.
23:21Most Asian food lovers have spilled it at least once in a lifetime.
23:25That's why nowadays, restaurants prefer serving soy sauce in special bottles that have two spouts.
23:31This design allows you to control when and how much sauce will come out.
23:35Just put your finger on one spout when you pour the sauce through another.
23:39If you press your finger tightly to the spout, the sauce will stop flowing,
23:44and if you remove your finger, it'll flow again.
23:47And don't forget to ask your server,
23:49Hey, wasabi!
23:51Alright.
23:52A hair straightener is an excellent tool, not only for treating your natural curls,
23:56but also for fixing crumpled money or documents.
23:59You can also use a regular iron for this purpose.
24:02Just make sure you don't turn on steaming mode.
24:05Otherwise, there's a risk of damaging the paper.
24:08Hairbands are good not only for getting your hair done,
24:11but also to open a glass jar with canned food.
24:14Your hands might slip on the tightly closed lid,
24:17and if you don't open the can from the first attempt,
24:20your palms tend to get sweaty, making the task virtually impossible.
24:24So, put a hairband on the lid to fix your hand and make your grasp stronger.
24:30A simple rubber band will do as well.
24:32Now, it's time to take my sweaty palms and go.
24:35You see these blades?
24:37They have notched corners to make your cutting experience smoother.
24:41Ooh.
24:42The front edge notch helps with separating blades during manufacturing,
24:46while the trailing edge notch helps the blade glide easily.
24:50And a fun fact!
24:51That notch on the front also helps you spot unused sections of the blade.
24:56Just a little visual indicator to make your life easier.
24:59When it comes to silver vs. black blades, they're both made from the same stuff.
25:04But black blades are sharper and are better suited for cutting through tough materials,
25:09while silver blades strike a balance between cutting power and durability.
25:13If you want that extra cutting oomph, go for black.
25:17Oh, almost forgot.
25:18The only thing those blades aren't meant to cut is food.
25:22It has a rust-proofing oil coating, which is not safe for humans.
25:27Check this one out.
25:29It's totally giving me childhood vibes.
25:31Now, I remember my grandma having tomato-shaped pin cushions just like this.
25:36And sometimes they would look more like a salad, with a little pepper thrown in there.
25:41Well, believe it or not, this salad actually has a purpose.
25:44The tomato keeps your pins in place, while the pepper keeps them sharp.
25:49Those peppers are filled with sand, which helps keep your pins nice and sharp.
25:54And it's not just sand.
25:56Crushed walnuts can also be used to keep your pins in tip-top shape.
26:01Now, look at this multiple pocket tool and this little hook on it.
26:05It's a bit of a mystery, but it's actually pretty handy.
26:08I counted at least four different applications.
26:11One, you can use it to carry all sorts of awkward stuff, like camping gear or heavy parcels.
26:17Two, need to twist some wire or play around with knots?
26:21The parcel hook has got you covered.
26:23Three, this hook can save the day with those stubborn zippers, like the ones on your luggage.
26:29Four, it's great for pretending to be a budget version of Captain Hook.
26:34If you know more applications, let me know in the comments.
26:38Apple users, with this feature, you'll never get laundry surprises again.
26:43Now, I bet you've had this situation at least once in your life.
26:47You wash your stuff, and when you take it out of the washing machine, the size seems to only fit
26:52your cat.
26:53Your iPhone camera can actually translate those funky laundry symbols for you.
26:58There are two requirements, though.
27:00You must have iOS 17, and your phone must be in English.
27:04Take a photo of the care label, go to the Photos app, and see the details of the image.
27:09Everything will be automatically decoded and explained to you.
27:14Now, many toasters come with nifty removable crumb trays at the bottom.
27:19It's super important to give these trays a good clean every now and then to keep your toaster running smoothly
27:24and avoid any potential fire hazards.
27:27Just pop them out, shake out the crumbs, and you're good to go.
27:31Where you shake them out is up to you.
27:34Those little compartments on your gas pump aren't just for show.
27:37They're actually there to hold your cap while you're filling up.
27:40This nifty feature keeps things tidy and prevents any spills or drips on the handle.
27:46So, say goodbye to messy refueling experiences and hello to a cleaner pump.
27:51Plus, it makes the whole process way more convenient and efficient.
27:56Now, I'll bet your oven gets so greasy and dirty sometimes that you can even hear it oink.
28:02Just kidding.
28:03I know you're a tidy person.
28:05Anyway, if you're looking for a way to bring your kitchen cleaning to a whole new level,
28:10here's a tip for you.
28:11Most oven doors have handy latches that let you pop the door off for easy cleaning,
28:17saving your poor back from the strain.
28:20When you're draining noodles or potatoes,
28:23there's no need to bother transferring everything to a colander in the sink.
28:27Just throw the colander right into the pot, hold it down, and pour the liquid out.
28:32It makes life so much easier,
28:34especially when you want to save that starchy water for recipes.
28:38It's a must for authentic pasta, by the way.
28:42So, let's say you've snagged this gem at a thrift store a while back for just under a dollar.
28:48It's seen better days, serving as an ashtray, but you decide it's time to give it a new lease on
28:54life.
28:55Here's the lowdown on how to make it shine again.
28:58Mix up a solution of boiling water, baking soda, and table salt in a bowl lined with aluminum foil.
29:04Let the piece soak for about 15 minutes, and repeat this process three times.
29:11In between soaks, gently scrub any rough spots with a microfiber cloth.
29:15After the final soak, dry the piece off and rub on some toothpaste, baking soda, and peroxide.
29:22Buff out any remaining tarnish with a clean, dry microfiber cloth.
29:27Rinse it off, and now your piece is practically gleaming like a mirror.
29:33These aluminum foil boxes have nifty little tabs on the sides that make it super easy to grab a sheet
29:39without any hassle.
29:40It's like a fancy little bonus that makes the product a breeze and ensures you'll have a smooth sailing experience
29:47every time.
29:49Manual can openers often come with a handy built-in feature, also known as a bottle opener.
29:55It's like getting two tools in one.
29:57But did you know that this bottle opener actually has another useful function?
30:02It can help you loosen those stubborn, hard-to-open jars.
30:06Simply lift the lid slightly at a couple of points with the bottle opener, and then watch it as it
30:12effortlessly twists right off.
30:14Yeah!
30:17Okay, I just found that, apparently, you're supposed to save the first and last slices of a loaf of sliced
30:23bread for last.
30:24It's like a bread hack or something.
30:26Apparently, those end pieces help keep the rest of the bread fresher for longer, and you shouldn't eat them until
30:32you've devoured the rest of the loaf.
30:34So, next time you're making a sandwich, save those heel slices for the very end.
30:39Even bread-eating needs a good strategy.
30:42Now, look at those blue levers on the top rack of your dishwasher.
30:45I was curious about them, too.
30:47And it turns out, they are actually water bottle sprayers.
30:51They help to ensure that your bottles get a thorough cleaning and rinse during the wash cycle.
30:57Many vegetable peelers have those little scoops on top for taking out the eyes from potatoes.
31:03And here's a cool tip.
31:05You can actually use vegetable peelers in both directions to peel faster.
31:09But most people just stick to one direction.
31:13When using yellow mustard, make sure to push the lid of the bottle all the way open until you hear
31:19a satisfying click.
31:20This way, the lid will stay securely in place and won't get in the way when you're dispensing the mustard
31:26onto your food.
31:27It's a simple step that can make your condiment experience hassle-free and enjoyable.
31:32So there.
31:35You know that little hole at the end of your pot or pan?
31:38Well, it's not just for show.
31:40You can actually use it as a handy holder for your forks and spoons.
31:44Next time you're cooking up a storm in the kitchen,
31:47just pop your utensils in that convenient little hole and keep them close at hand.
31:53Okay, just a heads-up to remember to switch the direction of your ceiling fan for the changing weather.
31:59And to give it a good clean, too.
32:01I've seen that a lot of folks found it helpful before to reverse the fan's direction by flipping a switch
32:07for different seasons.
32:09So this is just a friendly reminder to go ahead and do it again,
32:12pushing hot air down and pulling cold air up.
32:18When you're chowing down for some pizza, just tear off the top of the box and use it as a
32:23big old plate.
32:24You can even rip the box in half and fold it to save some leftovers for later.
32:29Well, that's it for today.
32:31What, you want to know more cool facts?
32:33Sure, but you'll have to subscribe and hit the bell to get more videos.
32:38I'm waiting.
32:39Go ahead.
