'U.S. War Crimes In Iran': UN Report Says Minab School Strike MAY HAVE Been a War Crime

A new United Nations investigation says a deadly U.S. strike on an elementary school in Minab, southern Iran, may have amounted to a war crime, raising serious questions about the targeting process during the opening phase of the U.S.-Iran war. The UN says at least 156 people, including 120 children and 26 teachers, were reportedly killed when the Shajareh Tayyebeh elementary school was struck.

Investigators examined satellite imagery, videos, photographs, expert information and dozens of interviews, concluding there were reasonable grounds to believe the U.S. carried out indiscriminate attacks in two separate strikes. The second strike, in Lamerd, reportedly killed 22 civilians.

The U.S. has rejected the UN report as not credible, while the Pentagon says its own investigation remains ongoing. Earlier reporting has raised the possibility that outdated intelligence and inaccurate target coordinates contributed to the Minab strike.

The UN investigation also examined Iran's crackdown on protesters, documenting allegations of torture, enforced disappearances and thousands of deaths, which investigators described as potential crimes against humanity.

As the findings move toward the UN Human Rights Council, one question remains at the center of the controversy: Was the Minab school strike a deliberate attack, or a catastrophic targeting failure?
