Diana Kruger walks us through her past fashion from the National Treasure premiere to multiple Met Gala showstoppers.
Transcript
00:00Hi Who Would Wear? I'm Diane Kruger and I'm going to take a walk down memory lane of fashion with
00:06you.
00:07My fashion. Crazy, good, bad. This is Would You Wear It Now?
00:14Oh wow, this is definitely memory lane.
00:18Okay, so I'm seeing the posters of National Treasure in the back, so I'm assuming that's what it was for.
00:23I gotta be honest, I have no clue what I'm wearing.
00:25I want to say it's Long Van, but I might be completely wrong.
00:28But it's uh, I still like it. I don't own it, but I would wear it again for sure.
00:33I feel like the shoes kind of don't really go with it.
00:36You know, this picture will haunt me, this outfit will haunt me till the day I die.
00:40I don't know what possessed me to put it on.
00:42It's the Golden Globes and I'm wearing a genie outfit. So this will go down for me as my personal
00:49worst. I don't know, I don't know what could get worse. The hair with that outfit,
00:54um, the occasion, the wrong dressing for the occasion, the weird gold bracelets that just emphasize the genie out of
01:01a bottle look.
01:02It's just all around bad. I felt great when I wore it. I was presenting too, so definitely everybody saw
01:10it.
01:11But, um, you know, it's Marquesa and I love, I love Georgina and Karen.
01:16Um, and this was kind of like the first collection and I really love putting it on.
01:21Um, I just like in hindsight, um, you know, that's definitely, yeah.
01:26I wonder if the bells were ringing too on the top part as I was walking.
01:30That could have been a nice touch, but I don't remember.
01:32Needless to say, this is a definite, definite no other than Halloween.
01:38Wow. Well, clearly nobody's styled this. This is like some paparazzi shot coming out of, uh,
01:44Charles de Gaulle in France, arriving in France, uh, which I'm not sure where I'm going, but, um,
01:50this is definitely my clothes.
01:51Although I do have very fancy Chanel, uh, carry-on, but the rest is pretty much, uh, day-to-day
01:58Diane.
01:58And I, I mean, I probably would wear it again. I mean, maybe not those shoes, but, uh, I mean,
02:05you know, who doesn't wear a white t-shirt and shorts, right?
02:07So this outfit is the first time I met my friend Jason Wu, I think.
02:14That was his first collection or second collection.
02:17And, um, it's the CFDA Awards in New York and we went together.
02:21I don't think I used a stylist at this because I feel like he, he put it together for me.
02:25Uh, and that was his date. So that was that. And, uh, I just remember having a really great evening.
02:34Um, that dress was very, very short, um, and, uh, sitting down was, um, definitely an R-rated experience.
02:41I love that dress and I, I kept it for many years, actually.
02:45All right.
02:46Ah, yes. So this is, uh, at the Cannes Film Festival and it's a gold sequin Calvin Klein number that,
02:56um,
02:57Francisco Costa at the time custom made for me.
03:00Yeah, I, I absolutely love it. I think at the time I was the face of their perfume, uh, called
03:05beauty.
03:06And this was a piece of beauty. And I, I still, I really love this dress and I think I
03:10got to keep it if I remember correctly.
03:12And, you know, it felt like, like liquid gold. It was, it was pretty awesome.
03:16And I would definitely wear that now. Yes. It's gorgeous.
03:19Um, all right. This, yeah, this is a real classic for me. I love this dress.
03:24Um, it was denim Chanel and I wore it, uh, to a Chanel Haute Couture show.
03:28I have that hat and I've had the same hat or variations of it for pretty much since I was
03:34like 16 years old.
03:35I did my own hair that morning because I remember there was a, a party for Chanel the night before
03:41and,
03:41and I remember being very hungover and I didn't want to, I didn't have like the patience to do my
03:48hair properly.
03:49So a hat is always a good way to pretend like it didn't happen.
03:55Yeah, that's pretty much what this picture is all about.
03:57I was very comfortable and I love the, uh, exaggerated hips and definitely would buy that again.
04:03Yeah.
04:03Wow. All right. So this is, um, on a book tour, I guess, for the host that I played the
04:09villain at.
04:10To be honest, I, I think it's, it's my personal clothes, but I don't remember the individual designers other than
04:17those shoes,
04:17which I know are Alaya.
04:20The rest, I, I truly, I don't remember, um, but this was like, you know, at a, at a bookstore
04:25somewhere in Los Angeles,
04:26signing autographs. Um, it felt appropriate. I would wear it again.
04:31Yes.
04:32Okay. So this one is the Met Ball. Um, I'm not sure what year.
04:37It's Chanel Haute Couture. And I do love this outfit.
04:40I felt so comfortable because usually you're in these huge gowns going to the Met and people sit on your
04:44train and it's not fun to go to the bathroom and all those things.
04:48So this felt like a dream. I felt really cool and very, I don't know, very, uh, fun for the
04:56occasion to dress differently.
04:57And so I really love this outfit and I would definitely wear that again.
05:01This is promoting a French film that came out, um, a couple of years ago and it's a Valentino and
05:08I really love this outfit.
05:09It's a little out of my comfort zone for me, you know, it's kind of wild and the patterns and
05:13I personally usually tend to stick to, um, more muted colors and, uh, or shapes.
05:19I don't know. It felt very appropriate at the time and I, I really love it. I have to say,
05:24I still do. So I would definitely wear that one again.
05:28Again, the Met Ball, I want to say two, three years ago, maybe even more because I remember I was
05:34pregnant and nobody knew.
05:36Uh, I was like three months along and, um, I was very, very morning sick sick and my feet were
05:43killing me from being pregnant and wearing heels.
05:46And I remember not being able to drink all night, which made the evening even longer, you know, when you're
05:51not feeling well.
05:52But that dress was a labor of love and it's Prabhal Gurung. We really designed it together.
05:58He came up with the shape, but all the embroideries, the train, uh, it had a detachable train, heavenly bodies.
06:05This was heavenly bodies and hence the embroidery and the color and, um, the netting felt very appropriate.
06:13I did my own makeup too at this. You can't see much of my face, but I did.
06:18It was very pretty in real life. So, yes.
06:21Uh, well, so this one's very recent. It's my friend Jason Wu who designed this.
06:25It's very romantic for me, but it was for opening night of the New York City Ballet, which I felt
06:30was very appropriate.
06:31And I love the color because I, you know, it's the first time in two years that we were able
06:36to go back and, and see a live performance in person.
06:40And, and it felt very optimistic and romantic, which is kind of how I felt.
06:44And I was very overwhelmed to see the ballet and just being in the company of, of people again and
06:50all those beautiful things.
06:51So, I really have, uh, not only great memories of that night, but great memories of that dress.
06:57I would definitely wear that again.
07:03Only because I think this is very me, you know, it, it, it's probably the look that I find myself,
07:10uh, be the most comfortable in and, and how I would like to dress every day, even though it doesn't
07:15happen.
07:16Um, but you know, cool flats, it's practical, it's, it's flirty and it's feminine, um, you know, and, and you
07:23do catch me in the, in that hat pretty much every day.
07:25So.
