00:09Welcome to MojoPlays, and today we're looking at the hardest boss fights found in classic Mega Man games.
00:16That means we're going old school with this one, nothing after the year 2000.
00:27But before we dive in, we publish new content all week long, so be sure to subscribe and ring the
00:32bell to get notified about our latest videos.
00:37Doc Quickman, Mega Man 3.
00:46Quickman was already one of the trickier bosses in Mega Man 2, but in the sequel, the Doc Robot is
00:52introduced, which can replicate the tactics of the eight former Robot Masters.
00:56This rematch is significantly harder for a few reasons.
00:59The boss still jumps around erratically, hurling groups of boomerangs, but since he deals an insane amount of contact damage,
01:06he's constantly in your face.
01:15Plus, the weapons he's weak to are hard to use, since he's always on the move, making the fight more
01:21annoying than the original, where you at least had the time stopper to deal a significant blow.
01:26The boss's overwhelming strategy without as reliable a weapon to fall back on meant mastery of the original fight counted
01:33for almost nothing here.
01:39Power Piston, Mega Man 6.
01:47Fought at the end of Mr. X's second stage, the Power Piston may be a simple boss, but it's one
01:54that floods the screen with damage while easily avoiding yours.
01:57The machine keeps up a constant fire of two to three bullets, while boulders drop from above at an annoyingly
02:03fast rate.
02:11Players expecting a slow buildup are immediately put on the back foot.
02:16The best weapon to use against it is the Silver Tomahawk, but even that has issues.
02:20Since Power Piston is constantly moving up and down the wall, and since the weapon moves in an upward arc,
02:27both you and the boss need to be in the proper spot to land an attack.
02:30Which can obviously get a little frustrating, given the relentless onslaught.
02:41Boobeam Trap, Mega Man 2.
02:51The Boobeam Trap annihilated more than its fair share of players back in the day, but unlike the others, it
02:57wasn't usually through overwhelming force.
02:59Mega Man is placed in a room with five turrets that periodically fire quick bullets, and a group of bombable
03:06walls.
03:06What makes this fight a pain is that the turrets can only be destroyed by crash bombs, of which you
03:12can only fire seven with no way to refill.
03:21Miss one of your shots, blow up the wrong wall, your crash bomb gets shot by one of the turrets.
03:27There are a lot of ways for this fight to go wrong.
03:29A lot of players ran out of ammunition, and were forced to die just to go restock and try again.
03:39Serges, Mega Man X2.
03:48As the leader of the X-Hunter, Serges proves why he commands such respect.
03:52He rides this obnoxious platform with spikes on both sides, frequently flipping into the air to fire a volley of
03:58projectiles.
04:00Although his platform is slow, the barrage of damage across the screen is tough to maneuver through,
04:05and it isn't long before he starts dropping mines across the ground.
04:13Navigating the hazards above and below requires very precise jumping, dashing, and wall jumping.
04:20Then you still have to worry about finding a window to land your own attacks,
04:23which might not even work because Serges' contraption also produces a barrier that forces you to properly time your shots.
04:36Burner Man, Mega Man, and Bass.
04:47Technically not released outside of Japan until it was ported to the Game Boy Advance in 2003,
04:52we're giving a pass to Mega Man, and Bass, and Burner Man, since it launched on the Super Famicom in
04:571998.
04:58Plus, this boss fight is pretty damn hard.
05:07The biggest problem is Burner Man's speed.
05:10He charges across the screen with a reckless ferocity that will take a few lives to get used to.
05:15Not only does his speed make him hard to read, but he also cycles through several attacks with no clear
05:21pattern.
05:22The best strategy is using the ice wall to push him into the spike pit on either side of the
05:26arena.
05:26But if you fall in yourself, it's instant death.
05:36Yellow Devil, Mega Man.
05:45A classic bastard of a boss if there ever was one, the Yellow Devil has quite the legacy.
05:51This boss is a gate-keeping nightmare barring you from seeing the rest of Dr. Wily's castle.
05:56When not shooting projectiles from its eye, it has an obscenely long main attack,
06:01where it splits itself into pieces to move across the arena.
06:10While this is in a set pattern you can get used to,
06:14you have to dodge 19 parts before the Yellow Devil is made whole again,
06:18and you have a chance to attack.
06:20And only in that brief window when it fires a shot do you get a chance to deal damage,
06:25meaning you'll be playing defensively far longer than you'd like.
06:34Wily Machine 2, Mega Man 2
06:44Dr. Wily has built a few nasty machines over the years,
06:48and his penultimate fight in Mega Man 2 is one of the more unfairly designed.
06:52Knocking off the front plating to reveal the mad scientist underneath is easy enough,
06:56but after that it's nearly impossible to not get destroyed by Wily's weapon at least a few times.
07:07The gun fires in erratic patterns these huge, bouncing projectiles,
07:12some of the toughest to dodge in any game, let alone Mega Man.
07:15Even if you get around some of them, you're going to take damage no matter what.
07:20And if you haven't preserved enough ammo for special weapons to deal the most damage,
07:23the Blue Bomber will be in trouble.
07:31Shadow Man, Mega Man 3
07:38Shadow Man is definitely one of the more irritating robot masters from the classic games.
07:43One reason is because he just won't sit still.
07:46He's constantly hopping around at different heights, making him hard to pin down.
07:55The other reason is his attack pattern.
07:57While he only has two moves, he uses them randomly.
08:01He fires two quick shurikens, but his slide is what you really need to look out for,
08:05since it can take off a huge chunk of health.
08:07He's both hard to hit because of his movement,
08:10and unpredictable, making him a dangerous hurdle to overcome.
08:26Sigma has proven plenty tough across multiple boss fights in the Mega Man X series,
08:31but nothing is quite on the level of his third.
08:34The first phase is tough, but fair.
08:36He isn't overwhelming, and you grow used to the speed of his projectiles over time.
08:40Unfortunately, there's a massive difficulty spike for the second.
08:50Kaiser Sigma's weak spot, his head, has a small hitbox, making it a pain to deal damage.
08:56On top of that, his attacks, being a barrage of homing missiles, a giant laser,
09:00and these stupid floating mines that ping around the room,
09:03make it hard for you to even get in a good position to try to deal damage.
09:08He's a durable foe, too, so you've got to keep this up for a while.

09:44Wily Capsule, Mega Man 7.
09:51Mega Man co-creator Keiji Inafune specifically set out
09:55to make the final boss of Mega Man 7 insanely hard.
09:59Clearly, he succeeded.
10:00You first have to deal with the Wily Machine 7,
10:03which takes up half the screen,
10:05stomping and leaping around to try and crush you.
10:08The Wily Capsule, fought directly after, is much worse.
10:18He can fire a variety of different projectiles
10:21that all move in patterns that are hard to react to at lightning-fast speeds.
10:25Some of these can stun you, which brings immense stress
10:28as Wily gears up for another attack,
10:31all of which can deal detrimental damage.
10:33He can even turn invisible to pop up right behind you.
10:36Of the many times we've fought Dr. Wily,
10:39this remains the most infuriating.
10:46What's the hardest boss you've faced in the Mega Man series?
10:49Are there any other tough foes from the Blue Bomber's heyday
10:51that deserve a shout-out?
