00:02:57So first off, we'll start out with defining and going over a bit of information about just

00:03:03the basics of what is Sukkot.

00:03:05We're going to be approaching this from a base level, assuming that there are viewers out

00:03:11there who are coming to this and not really knowing exactly what it is, or maybe never

00:03:16even heard of Sukkot before.

00:03:18So this is really going to be tailored toward you, but there's going to be a lot more information

00:03:22in there for even some of the more experienced believers as well when it comes to this Moadim

00:03:28of Sukkot.

00:03:29So what is Sukkot?

00:03:32Well, here's a general overview.

00:03:34Sukkot is one of the seven Moadim, like we briefly mentioned before.

00:03:37The other Moadim that is commanded in scripture anyways, in the Torah, is Passover or Pesach,

00:03:45the Feast of Unleavened Bread or Hag Hamatzot, the Feast of First Fruits, the Festival of Weeks,

00:03:51which is commonly called Shavuot, the Festival of Trumpets, which is called Yom Teruah in

00:03:57scripture.

00:03:58There's also the Day of Atonement, which is Yom Kippurim, and that's coming up in two days

00:04:04this year.

00:04:05And then we have the festival or the Feast of Tabernacles or the Feast of Booths, known

00:04:11as Sukkot, which is this teaching is all about and begins next week, next Friday at sunset.

00:04:18It's one of the three pilgrimage festivals also, which goes along with Passover and Shavuot.

00:04:26So Passover, Shavuot and Sukkot are the three pilgrimage festivals, which if you don't know,

00:04:32the pilgrimage festivals are the ones commanded in scripture that when the temple is standing,

00:04:38that all the men, the males, are supposed to go and present themselves before Yahweh at

00:04:43the temple.

00:04:44That is the pilgrimage festival.

00:04:46And there's three of them.

00:04:47Again, that's Passover, Shavuot and Sukkot.

00:04:51And Sukkot is obviously one of those.

00:04:54They're referred to as the Shalosh Regalim.

00:04:57It's the actual last of the Muadim or the year that's commanded in the Torah.

00:05:03Now, there is Hanukkah coming up.

00:05:06And there's also Purim after that, too.

00:05:09But these are not commanded in the Torah.

00:05:11The last of the ones in the Torah is, of course, Sukkot.

00:05:15Sukkot lasts for eight days, but it lasts for seven days.

00:05:19Or is it eight days?

00:05:20We'll get into that more, but it actually does last for eight days.

00:05:24It's a seven-day festival with an eighth day added on, the Great Day, as it's often called.

00:05:30And this year, as I was mentioning earlier, it begins at sunset on Friday, September 25th,

00:05:35which is one week from today.

00:05:37And then it ends at sunset on October 3rd, which is eight days later, obviously.

00:05:44Sukkot is also known as, or at least in English anyways,

00:05:48the Feast of Tabernacles, the Feast of Ingathering, or the Festival of Ingathering,

00:05:53the Festival of Shelters, and the Festival of Booze.

00:05:56In Hebrew, it's also known as Hag Ha Sukkot, obviously,

00:06:02which is the feast or festival of Sukkot.

00:06:06And here you can find where it's normally translated in the Scriptures 2009

00:06:10and also in the Hebrew.

00:06:12And here you can also find it, or refer to in Scripture, as Hag Ha'asif,

00:06:17which is the festival or feast of ingathering.

00:06:20And you can find that as it's normally translated in the Scriptures 2009 translation.

00:06:26And, of course, the Hebrew or Masoretic text from,

00:06:29and I commonly use the Westminster-Leningrad Codex when displaying the Hebrew here.

00:06:34I do apologize for not putting the translation names up there.

00:06:39The different elements and some terminology to go over

00:06:42to help you better understand what Sukkot is all about,

00:06:46and, of course, all about Sukkot,

00:06:48here is some of those particular words getting into the more nerdy part of it,

00:06:52because those of you who watch me more than once

00:06:55know I like to get nerdy and in the weeds sometimes.

00:06:57So here we go with Sukkot as well.

00:07:00Number one is the word Sukkot.

00:07:02That is Sukkot.

00:07:04And what is a Sukkot?

00:07:05A Sukkot is a temporary hut or a temporary dwelling place.

00:07:10And this is something that could be not just for humans,

00:07:13but also livestock.

00:07:15And that's going to be coming into a very important aspect or context

00:07:20when we go through the actual Scriptures,

00:07:23both in the Tanakh and the Brit Hadashah.

00:07:27However, the word Sukkot is the singular form of the word,

00:07:31and the plural form is Sukkot.

00:07:35That's the word you're probably more familiar with,

00:07:37the word Sukkot.

00:07:39And that means Sukkot, but in the plural form,

00:07:42two or more, obviously, right?

00:07:44So Sukkot is the plural form of Sukkot,

00:07:47and it's also the name of this particular Moedim, obviously.

00:07:53In respect to Sukkot and the way things operate

00:07:58and the different elements of Sukkot,

00:08:00there are four different species of items

00:08:04that are commanded from Scripture, actually,

00:08:07you're supposed to take during this particular Moedim.

00:08:11Those four species are the fruit of good trees,

00:08:14which is nonspecific,

00:08:16the branches of palm trees, that is specific,

00:08:19the twigs of leafy trees, again, nonspecific,

00:08:22and willows of the stream.

00:08:25That sounds pretty specific to me.

00:08:26And we'll read all that so you can see it in black and white

00:08:29coming up here in just a little bit.

00:08:31But those are the four species of the four different things

00:08:34that Scripture itself commands you to take.

00:08:37There's also a thing called the Lulav,

00:08:40and the Lulav can refer to two different things, actually.

00:08:43Lulav is actually one of those four species by itself,

00:08:47or it can also refer to the three,

00:08:50or I'm sorry, a grouping of the three of the four species

00:08:53of the leafy parts,

00:08:56the palm, the leafy trees, and the willows of the stream.

00:09:00When you bind those together,

00:09:01then that is called the Lulav collectively.

00:09:05I know it gets confusing, but stay with me.

00:09:07It'll make sense in a minute as we get through all this.

00:09:10You also have something called the Etrog,

00:09:12and the Etrog is an overgrown lemon.

00:09:17It looks like a lot of times if you've never seen one.

00:09:19But they smell absolutely wonderful.

00:09:23I don't think they've got too much of a taste to them.

00:09:25It's sort of like a lemon, but not really.

00:09:28It's got a lot of pith in it,

00:09:30but it's a lot easier to eat the pith of an Etrog

00:09:33than it is a lemon.

00:09:34So take that for its worth.

00:09:36And you can actually candy it.

00:09:38You don't have to eat it plain.

00:09:39You can actually boil it in simple syrup and stuff like that

00:09:42and candy the pith and the Etrog.

00:09:44I'm thinking about actually trying that this year, too.

00:09:48Anyways, here is the even nerdier part

00:09:52for the word sukkah.

00:09:53And the word sukkah comes from Strong's H5521.

00:09:57That's H5521, the word sukkah.

00:10:00And there is your outline of biblical usage

00:10:02as you found it in scripture.

00:10:04And also your Strong's definition,

00:10:06which defines it as a hut or even a lair sometimes

00:10:10for a wild animal, like a lion, tiger, bear,

00:10:14stuff like that.

00:10:15Strong's also defines it as something like a booth

00:10:18or a cottage, a pavilion, tabernacle, tent,

00:10:20things like that.

00:10:21But the idea, again, the general idea

00:10:23is something that is temporary, not permanent.

00:10:27Then there is your brown driver Briggs entry for sukkah.

00:10:30And again, pretty much the same exact thing,

00:10:34defined as a thicket, a booth,

00:10:36or something like a temporary shelter.

00:10:39Here's your Jacinus' Hebrew lexicon entry for sukkah.

00:10:42And also your Jastral's Dictionary of the Targums entry for sukkah.

00:10:47And again, it's all centering around this whole concept

00:10:50of a temporary dwelling.

00:10:52And finally, here is your Klein Dictionary entry for sukkah,

00:10:56as well as your Hebrew and Aramaic lexicon of the Old Testament entry

00:11:00for the word sukkah.

00:11:02And again, if this is going too fast

00:11:19We're going on looking at the word sukkot.

00:11:22And again, this is the plural form of the singular sukkah.

00:11:26So sukkot is Strong's H5523.

00:11:29That's Strong's H5523 sukkot.

00:11:32There's your outline of biblical usage for sukkot,

00:11:35as well as your Strong's definition,

00:11:36which defines it as booze in the plural.

00:11:40Not booze, but booze.

00:11:41And also the name of a place in Egypt,

00:11:44which we'll get to in just a moment as well.

00:11:46That comes in...

00:11:47Sorry, how do I say this?

00:11:49That comes into play in our teaching,

00:11:52not once, but actually twice in the...

00:11:56Well, once in the book of Genesis

00:11:58and then once in the book of Exodus,

00:12:00but we'll get to that coming up here in just a moment.

00:12:02And of course, also the name of the Moedim

00:12:05that we're talking about tonight.

00:12:07And there's your Brown Driver Briggs entry

00:12:09for the word sukkot.

00:12:12Here's what you've seen.

00:12:13This is Hebrew lexicon entry for sukkot,

00:12:15as well as the Hebrew and Aramaic lexicon

00:12:17of the Old Testament entry for the word sukkot.

00:12:20And also, if you would like even more information

00:12:24from each of these particular resources,

00:12:27you can go to our website

00:12:28and look at the notes that we personally took.

00:12:30It'll have a more expansive entry for each of these.

00:12:35We just cut it down for the sake of space on the slide.

00:12:38Now, for those of you who have not heard about sukkot

00:12:41or celebrated sukkot or anything like that,

00:12:43here is an example of a sukkah

00:12:46that somebody built at one point

00:12:49in celebration of the Moedim of Sukkot.

00:12:51They can look and they take various different shapes

00:12:54and they take various different looks.

00:12:56And you can actually go on Amazon or someplace else

00:13:00and buy an entire kit if you would like.

00:13:03But I don't see the point in that myself

00:13:05because living here in Western North Carolina,

00:13:07we've got lots of bamboo that we can go and get

00:13:11and people are begging you to come get it anyways

00:13:14because it grows like a weed.

00:13:16There's plenty of rocks.

00:13:18I'm sorry, not rocks, but I guess you could use rocks,

00:13:21but there's plenty of saplings and woods

00:13:25and all kinds of stuff you can make stuff out of.

00:13:28So I personally don't see the point in buying one,

00:13:29but you could depend on where you live

00:13:31and how you want to do it.

00:13:33But that's just one example,

00:13:34as you see there on your screen, of a sukkah.

00:13:36Here is another one, a little bit more fancy,

00:13:39a little bit more upscale, in my opinion.

00:13:41It's got a tablecloth table there set up.

00:13:46And a lot of people do dine inside their sukkah as well.

00:13:51Here's an even more elaborate sukkah.

00:13:54It looks like that's somewhere on the beach.

00:13:56So you can go way upscale if you want to,

00:14:00but you don't have to.

00:14:02It's just make sure you have a temporary dwelling.

00:14:04And again, we'll get on to all that here coming up

00:14:07when we read the actual scriptures themselves.

00:14:10And of course, here is more of my style,

00:14:13something just basic and put together.

00:14:15That's what I think of personally

00:14:17when I think of a sukkah during Sukkot.

00:14:20I mean, you do you,

00:14:22but that's what I kind of think of.

00:14:24And that's kind of what I build

00:14:25when I do my sukkah during Sukkot.

00:14:30Now, what I actually sleep in, though, is a tent.

00:14:33I don't actually sleep in what I built there.

00:14:35The bamboo is fun and all,

00:14:37but I just don't feel like sleeping in it.

00:14:39Again, the tent is a temporary dwelling anyways.

00:14:42So in my mind, that kind of fits.

00:14:45And finally, if you're in a very populated place,

00:14:47you can actually even build a temporary dwelling

00:14:50or a sukkah on a balcony,

00:14:53wherever room you got.

00:14:54You can go on your back porch.

00:14:55If you're in an apartment building,

00:14:58these people are in Israel themselves.

00:15:00And this is a sukkah they built in Israel

00:15:03to celebrate Sukkot.

00:15:05So yeah, sukkahs come in all sorts of shapes

00:15:09and sizes and colors and designs.

00:15:11You can get as fancy as you want to.

00:15:14But again, the whole idea is a temporary dwelling,

00:15:17nothing that is permanent.

00:15:19In fact, after Sukkot is over,

00:15:21you take it down and it no longer exists.

00:15:24So that is the very definition

00:15:26of a temporary dwelling, actually.

00:15:28So that is a sukkah.

00:15:30That is one element and one part

00:15:31of the festival of Sukkot.

00:15:33Moving on, we'll be looking at an etrog next.

00:15:36And an etrog is actually a,

00:15:38what they call a yellow citron

00:15:40or a citrus medica.

00:15:42If you want to get really,

00:15:44really nerdy about it.

00:15:46But again, it's one of those

00:15:47really big lemon looking things

00:15:50that come in handy.

00:15:52We don't have them here in America

00:15:53as far as I know.

00:15:55Every time I order my Sukkot kit,

00:15:57it usually comes from Israel itself.

00:16:01But yeah, this is one example

00:16:04or a picture of a etrog.

00:16:06The etrog is the really big one in the back.

00:16:10And it looks like they kind of picked that

00:16:12before it was fully ripe

00:16:13because it's still got some green to it,

00:16:15it looks like.

00:16:15And usually they're yellow

00:16:17and they're very, very large.

00:16:19You see that pith right there.

00:16:21It's got a lot of pith

00:16:23as compared to a standard lemon

00:16:25or even a lime or an orange

00:16:27or something like that.

00:16:29So it's got a lot of pith there.

00:16:31And here you can get a better sense

00:16:33of the size of an etrog

00:16:35if you've never seen one.

00:16:36Here in this gentleman's hand,

00:16:38in his left hand,

00:16:38our right,

00:16:39he's holding the bundle,

00:16:41which is referred to as the lulav.

00:16:43But in his right hand,

00:16:44he's actually holding an etrog.

00:16:46And this etrog,

00:16:48for those of you who are listening

00:16:50through audio,

00:16:51this etrog is as large

00:16:53or maybe even a tad bit larger

00:16:54than this gentleman's head.

00:16:56These things get fairly large.

00:17:00I don't think I've ever had one that large,

00:17:02but I've had,

00:17:03all mine have been much larger

00:17:05than a lemon anyways.

00:17:06So that is an etrog.

00:17:08It's a fruit,

00:17:09it's a citrus fruit

00:17:10and it looks like a lemon.

00:17:13But it's much, much larger

00:17:14and it tastes a little bit different,

00:17:16but it's very, very floral.

00:17:18Well, I don't know

00:17:19if you want to say floral,

00:17:20but you can smell it

00:17:21and it's got a really good smell to it.

00:17:23So yeah.

00:17:25Anyways, moving on,

00:17:26we're going to be looking

00:17:26at the lulav next.

00:17:28And again,

00:17:29this could be one of two things

00:17:30to be either the actual

00:17:31individual species itself

00:17:33or the bundle

00:17:34of the three leafy

00:17:36kind of species

00:17:37that you take

00:17:39of the four species anyways.

00:17:41But from wikipedia.org,

00:17:44quote,

00:17:44the lulav is a closed frond

00:17:46of the date palm tree.

00:17:48It is one of the four species

00:17:49used during the Israeli holiday

00:17:51of Sukkot.

00:17:52The other species

00:17:53are the hadas,

00:17:54with meaning myrtle,

00:17:55the arava,

00:17:56willow,

00:17:57and etrog, citron.

00:17:59When bound together,

00:18:00the lulav,

00:18:01hadas,

00:18:02and arava

00:18:02are commonly referred to

00:18:04as the lulav.

00:18:06So if you want to refer

00:18:08to the lulav

00:18:09as one of the individual

00:18:10parts of the four species,

00:18:13that would be the date palm

00:18:14or collectively together,

00:18:16the hadas,

00:18:17the arava,

00:18:18and the date palm

00:18:20together as a bundle

00:18:22are referred to also

00:18:23as the lulav.

00:18:25And for those of you

00:18:26who have not celebrated before,

00:18:28here is a picture

00:18:28of both the bundled lulav

00:18:31and the citron.

00:18:33I'm sorry,

00:18:33the etrog.

00:18:35And again,

00:18:36it looks a little bit

00:18:37underripe

00:18:37because it's green also.

00:18:39They're usually yellow

00:18:40when I see them.

00:18:41But there in the bundle,

00:18:42you've got the three

00:18:43of the leafy species there.

00:18:45You've got the myrtle,

00:18:47you've got the willow,

00:18:48and you've also got

00:18:49the date palm

00:18:50bundled up there.

00:18:51And that's how

00:18:52they normally look.

00:18:55And if you haven't

00:18:56ordered them already,

00:18:59from Amazon this week.

00:19:00It's supposed to be

00:19:14just to wrap up

00:19:18What is Sukkot?

00:19:19Well, it's one of the

00:19:20Moedim

00:19:21or the appointed times

00:19:22that are commanded

00:19:23in the Torah.

00:19:25It is one of the

00:19:26three pilgrimage feasts

00:19:27or the Shalosh Regalim.

00:19:28It is the last

00:19:29of the scriptural Moedim,

00:19:31at least in the Torah,

00:19:32that is commanded

00:19:33for the year.

00:19:36Sukkot lasts for

00:19:37seven days

00:19:38with an eighth day

00:19:39there commonly referred

00:19:40to as the Great Day.

00:19:44This year, Sukkot starts

00:19:48on September 25th

00:19:50and runs through

00:19:50October 3rd.

00:19:52And it's different

00:19:53every year

00:19:54and it doesn't stay

00:19:54the same

00:19:55because Sukkot is

00:19:58going according

00:19:58to the Hebraic calendar

00:20:00or biblical calendar

00:20:01not the Gregorian calendar

00:20:02which most of us

00:20:03use on a daily basis.

00:20:05Sukkot is also known

00:20:07as the Feast of Tabernacles,

00:20:08the Feast of Ingathering

00:20:10or the Festival of Ingathering,

00:20:11the Festival of Shelters,

00:20:12the Festival of Booths,

00:20:14the Sukkah,

00:20:15which is a singular word.

00:20:18This means one,

00:20:20of course, singular,

00:20:21while Sukkot is the plural

00:20:23meaning two or more.

00:20:25The four species

00:20:26are described

00:20:27in the book of Leviticus,

00:20:29chapter 23,

00:20:30and two are nonspecific

00:20:32and two are specific.

00:20:34And those are the fruit

00:20:35of good trees,

00:20:37And we'll see that

00:20:38in just a moment

00:20:41And the etrog

00:20:42is commonly used,

00:20:44but again,

00:20:44you don't have to

00:20:45because scripture

00:21:17myrtle,

00:21:17and willow together.

00:21:23looking at Sukkot

00:21:24and the Tanakh,

00:21:25let's get into

00:21:25the actual scripture part now

00:21:27because as we all know,

00:21:28our doctrine,

00:21:29our beliefs,

00:21:30the things that we go out

00:21:32and believe

00:21:32should be based

00:21:34on scripture itself.

00:21:35not the teachings

00:21:38or the words

00:21:38of a preacher

00:21:39behind a pulpit

00:21:40or some talking head

00:21:41on the internet.

00:21:42It should be based

00:21:43and founded

00:21:44on scripture itself.

00:21:45So let's get into that now

00:21:46and look at the actual scriptures

00:21:49regarding Sukkot.

00:21:50Now,

00:21:50the first time

00:21:51we see the word Sukkot

00:21:53mentioned in scripture

00:21:55comes from Genesis chapter 33,

00:21:57verse 17.

00:22:00And Jacob set out

00:22:01to Sukkot

00:22:03and built himself

00:22:04a house

00:22:04and made booze

00:22:05for his livestock.

00:22:08That is why

00:22:08the name of the place

00:22:09is called Sukkot.

00:22:11Now,

00:22:12again,

00:22:12Sukkot

00:22:12doesn't actually

00:22:13have to mean

00:22:14tents

00:22:15or tabernacles.

00:22:16It can also mean booze.

00:22:18Again,

00:22:18something just temporary.

00:22:20So here,

00:22:21Jacob or Jacob

00:22:22set out to a place

00:22:23called Sukkot

00:22:24and there he built

00:22:26a house

00:22:27and he built

00:22:28Sukkot

00:22:29for his animals.

00:22:31And scripture says

00:22:32that is why

00:22:33the name of that place

00:22:34is called Sukkot.

00:22:36So you've got

00:22:37the modim of Sukkot,

00:22:38you've got the

00:22:39general word

00:22:40meaning multiple sukkahs

00:22:42or you've got

00:22:43the place

00:22:44which is called Sukkot

00:22:45as well

00:22:46and that's the first mention

00:22:47of that word

00:22:48we see here

00:22:48in scripture.

00:22:49But then we move on

00:22:51and we look

00:22:52at the Exodus

00:22:53from Egypt

00:22:54in Exodus

00:22:54chapter 12

00:22:55verse 37

00:22:56and it says here

00:22:58and the children

00:22:59of Israel

00:22:59set out from Ramses

00:23:00to Sukkot

00:23:01about 600,000 men

00:23:03on foot

00:23:03besides the little ones.

00:23:06So when they

00:23:07leave Egypt

00:23:07and they're going out

00:23:08and they're trying

00:23:09to get to the promised land

00:23:10from out of their slavery

00:23:12the first place

00:23:13they stop

00:23:14is a place

00:23:15called Sukkot.

00:23:17You remember that?

00:23:18We just read that.

00:23:19So yeah,

00:23:20that is actually

00:23:21pretty amazing

00:23:22at least in my thoughts.

00:23:24It's connected

00:23:24to both

00:23:25before slavery

00:23:26to after slavery

00:23:27and so much more

00:23:29as we get into

00:23:30here in a minute.

00:23:31Sukkot actually has

00:23:31a lot of connections

00:23:33here to a lot

00:23:34of different things

00:23:35and we'll get to

00:23:35all that coming up

00:23:36as we go through

01:19:02we see the connections of the end times of Sukkot

01:19:05we see the connections between the temple in Sukkot and Yeshua in Sukkot

01:19:09and all this other stuff

01:19:10but brother how in the world do we actually celebrate it now

01:19:14let's just get to that part

01:19:15okay well I'm glad you asked and we're getting close to the end

01:19:18so here is some tips and some help for you out there who want to celebrate this

01:19:24first we're going to look at the scriptural commands looking straight from scripture

01:19:29before we get into the actual tradition part that some groups actually do

01:19:34alright so celebration looking at the scriptural aspect from scripture itself

01:19:39we see this passage here you can look at from scripture but some just put in a bullet

01:19:44point list

01:19:46you are

01:19:47I'm sorry you are to dwell in a Sukkah

01:19:49a temporary dwelling or a tent

01:19:51for seven days

01:19:52eight days actually

01:19:53the first day and the eighth day are Sabbaths or better known as Shabbatons

01:19:58and we are commanded to rejoice before Yahweh for seven days

01:20:03as well as taking four species that the scriptures command us

01:20:07number one the fruit of good trees the branches of palm trees the twigs of leafy trees

01:20:11and willows of the stream

01:20:14and if you want to get these for yourself

01:20:17you can go on Amazon probably Walmart other places online

01:20:20and order these and have them here before next week before Sukkot

01:20:26and I would highly encourage you to do that if you want to do that

01:20:28because it does take time to package and ship and all other stuff too

01:20:33but that is how you would celebrate it according specifically and directly and only to scripture itself

01:20:40now Orthodox Judaism also has their own traditions that go along with this

01:20:45in the way they celebrate Sukkot

01:20:48they build a Sukkah or live in a tent

01:20:50this is a scriptural command so nothing wrong with that

01:20:53and their Sukkahs generally have an open roof

01:20:58and there's Talmudic commands

01:21:02teachings on why it's supposed to be open

01:21:05you don't get that from scripture

01:21:07but that's the way Orthodox Jews do it

01:21:09the first and eighth day according to Orthodox Judaism

01:21:12are Sabbaths or Shabbatons

01:21:14which is aligned with scripture

01:21:15there's nothing wrong there

01:21:17they rejoice before Yahweh for seven days

01:21:19again that's another scriptural command

01:21:20the Sukkahs that they build are traditionally decorated with the four species

01:21:25the etrog, myrtle, willow, and lulav

01:21:29this is not something that's commanded by scripture

01:21:31but I don't see anything wrong with that

01:21:32if you want to decorate your Sukkah with the four species themselves

01:21:38they also read from the Torah every single day of Sukkot

01:21:41which I think you should be reading the Bible every single day anyways

01:21:45but that's just me

01:21:47they also read the Hallel

01:21:49which is Psalms 113-118

01:21:51every single day

01:21:52I don't see anything wrong with that

01:21:54it's not commanded in scripture

01:21:55but again

01:21:56there's nothing wrong with that in my opinion

01:21:59they light candles

01:22:00and these candles are traditionally lit

01:22:02on the first two days at sunset

01:22:05I don't get Orthodox Judaism's obsession with candles

01:22:09but this is something they also do for Sukkot

01:22:13meals are traditionally eaten inside the Sukkah

01:22:16I don't see anything wrong with that either

01:22:17but it's not commanded in scripture

01:22:19so if you don't want to do it

01:22:20that's fine as well

01:22:21they take the four species

01:22:23which is commanded in scripture

01:22:24so nothing wrong there

01:22:25and they wave the lulav

01:22:27the bundle

01:22:28and they also wave the etrog along with it

01:22:30that is not commanded in scripture

01:22:32that comes from tradition

01:22:34and scripture does not say

01:22:36wave the lulav

01:22:37you can

01:22:38but you're not required to

01:22:40again this is just the traditional things

01:22:41that Orthodox Judaism does

01:22:43Karate Judaism does things a little bit differently

01:22:46they don't do a lot of what was listed here

01:22:48in fact they don't wave the lulav

01:22:50they take these four species

01:22:52especially the tree parts

01:22:55and they build their sukkahs with them

01:22:58and they take the palm branches

01:23:00the palm leaves

01:23:01and they build their roofs with them

01:23:02and then their roofs are not open

01:23:04their roofs are actually closed

01:23:05keep the sun out

01:23:07keep the rain out

01:23:08stuff like that

01:23:08but still a temporary dwelling

01:23:10but they take these four species

01:23:11and they use those four species

01:23:13to build their sukkahs with

01:23:16so Karate Judaism does

01:23:18a little bit

01:23:19their things a little bit differently

01:23:21than the Orthodox Jews do

01:23:22so now to wrap everything up

01:23:25and in summary

01:23:28Sukkot is one of the Moadim

01:23:30or the appointed times

01:23:31that is commanded in Torah

01:23:33and is also one of the three pilgrimage feasts

01:23:35that are commanded in the Torah as well

01:23:37Sukkot lasts for eight days

01:23:39and we are to take the four species

01:23:41as commanded in scripture

01:23:43for the festival of Sukkot

01:23:46Sukkot is on the 15th day

01:23:47of the 7th new moon

01:23:49or the 7th month

01:23:50and it lasts for seven days

01:23:52with the 8th day being the great day

01:23:54or the last day

01:23:55or whatever you want to call it

01:23:56the first and 8th day are Shabbatons

01:23:59we are commanded to be only rejoicing

01:24:01before Yahweh for Sukkot

01:24:03Sukkot is a law forever

01:24:06and if you don't know what forever means

01:24:09look it up

01:24:09it does not mean

01:24:10just until Yeshua comes

01:24:13Yeshua did tabernacle among us

01:24:16and celebrated Sukkot

01:24:18and again

01:24:18that whole Sukkot language

01:24:20is used when speaking of Yeshua

01:24:23not just the general dwelling language

01:24:26and Sukkot has connections

01:24:28to end times events

01:24:30and to Hanukkah

01:24:31and to Yeshua

01:24:32and to the temple

01:24:34and all sorts of things

01:24:36and Sukkot is the most likely time

01:24:39of Yeshua's birth

01:24:40we went over those connections

01:24:41and that evidence earlier

01:24:42and again

01:24:44feel free to do your own research

01:24:45and make even more connections as well

01:24:47and Sukkot is an appointed time

01:24:50or a moedim of Yahweh

01:24:52which are still ongoing

01:24:53in fact

01:24:54Paul the apostle says

01:24:55that these things are

01:24:57shadows of things to come

01:24:59right

01:25:00he used the present ongoing verb

01:25:03are

01:25:04instead of the past tense

01:25:06were

01:25:07he didn't say they were shadows

01:25:08he says they are shadows

01:25:10so Sukkot is an appointed time

01:25:13moedim of Yahweh

01:25:14that is still ongoing

01:25:15and still in effect

01:25:16and again

01:25:18Sukkot is a law forever

01:25:21that bears repeating

01:25:22because that is just

01:25:24the God honest truth
