00:00When the Wags and Walks team first saw Sharon at a crowded county shelter,
00:04there was one thing they immediately noticed. Her legs were incredibly deformed.
00:11Sharon had been picked up as a stray, but the scars across her stomach told rescuers that she had
00:16been repeatedly bred and had multiple c-sections. And her legs made something even as simple as
00:22walking incredibly difficult. At the shelter, Sharon was understandably guarded and unsure
00:31of who she could trust. But almost immediately after being rescued, the staff started to see
00:36a completely different dog. She was social, silly, and unbelievably sweet.
00:46I feel like this is a perfect example of how a stressful environment like the shelter
00:51can impact dog. Once Sharon was somewhere calmer, her true personality started to shine.
00:57The staff believed that Sharon's deformity was likely the result of poor breeding and
01:01putting excessive strain on her joints for the majority of her life. So they began treating
01:07her joint pain. And within just a few weeks, a dog who could barely walk was trotting around
01:12her foster family's backyard, pain-free for probably the first time in her entire life.
