00:06Residents say elevators in three of the buildings have been out of service for years,
00:12forcing elderly and disabled residents to use the stairs to reach apartments as high as the 7th floor.
00:19On Saturday, residents outlined some of the problems they say are affecting the community,
00:24including what they describe as inadequate garbage collection.
00:28They used to pick up the bulk week, although it wasn't part of the contract, they still used to pick
00:32it up.
00:33Since contractual change, we end up with this problem here.
00:38And sometimes the garbage goes all the way down the road.
00:42One of the problems we face is another problem. We have a serious rat infestation.
00:48And people coming from all outside and dumping the garbage here.

00:56Another resident says it significantly impacts her daily life.
01:01The rubbish is opposite. The garbage is opposite me, right?
01:04Making me sick. My whole family, you're getting rats, cockroach, flies coming inside my house.
01:12In the night, you cannot sleep properly because you're smelling the whole garbage inside my me.
01:17Water supply, residents claim, has also been unreliable.
01:21We're really suffering from water. And something again, I just forget.
01:26I just forget. Oh, the elevator not working.
01:29And I am sick with my foot. My whole body is suffering with eye practice on my hip, my foot.
01:34And I had to walk along that step. I live on the fifth floor.
01:37And water. I know what look right now.
01:39My son come with me. I go in a big bag of clothes. I go in a bag of heat
01:41to wash.
01:43It's hard for me.
01:44Residents are calling on the authorities to intervene.
01:47And I'm getting fed up of heat. You see, not listening to my cry.
01:51I have been crying out to them, sending letters, going trying to talk to people.
01:54And I can't talk to anybody right now. And I don't know what to do. I need help for this
01:59child.
01:59And as a matter of fact, we want to see Mr. Alexander.
02:03Right? We want to have a meeting with Mr. Alexander.

02:09When TV6 contacted Minister in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, Philip Alexander,
02:15he said he will visit the community and meet residents with a team from HTC next week.
