00:27as they continue to operate amid shortages of essential supplies and medical staff.

00:36In Lebanon, several hospitals have been damaged or forced to close,
00:40leaving remaining facilities to handle a growing number of patients, displaced people and medical needs.
00:46The World Health Organization says three hospitals in Lebanon remain fully closed, while 16 others have sustained partial damage.
00:56Hisham Fawaz, Head of the Hospitals and Clinics Department at Lebanon's Ministry of Health, says the situation is particularly difficult
01:03in the south.
01:07In the south, we have lost three key hospitals, the Bint Jabil Governmental Hospital, the Maiz Al-Jabal Governmental Hospital,
01:16and the Martyr Salah Gondur Hospital in Bint Jabil as well.
01:21Consequently, there is now a significant shortage of services, which has increased the burden on hospitals in the rear areas,
01:27such as the Tibnin Governmental Hospital, the Nabatae Hospital, and the Tyre Hospital.
01:33In addition to the displacement that occurred from the occupied frontline areas to the rear areas,
01:39there is now double pressure on these hospitals.
01:42And let's not forget that, on top of these pressures, these hospitals were often subjected to prolonged and direct Israeli
01:50attacks during the last two wars.
01:52So, these hospitals are under immense pressure.
01:57That pressure is continuing as the healthcare system also deals with damage to medical infrastructure and the loss of emergency
02:04services.
02:05In September, Lebanon's health ministry said the Salah Gondur Hospital had been completely destroyed in an Israeli strike.
02:12The ministry had said the facility had already stopped operating because of intensified attacks in the area.
02:18For Lebanon's health authorities, rebuilding hospitals is only part of the challenge.
02:24They are also calling for support to restore emergency medical services, including ambulances and other response infrastructure.
02:34Today, the health sector has extensive needs, first and foremost in the emergency medical services sector.
02:40We always focus on hospitals but forget about emergency medical services, which, unfortunately, lost hundreds of martyrs and hundreds of
02:50wounded among these heroic paramedics during the last two wars.
02:54Furthermore, these volunteer emergency response organizations have lost dozens of centers and hundreds of ambulances and fire trucks.
03:03And, of course, there are hospitals that are no longer operational.
03:07Hopefully, when we return to these areas, we want to see large-scale projects to rehabilitate these hospitals, as some
03:15have been damaged and their medical equipment destroyed.
03:18We are also working through several international projects to restore these hospitals to their pre-war condition.
03:26The need for reconstruction comes as diplomatic efforts to stabilize the situation in southern Lebanon remain unresolved.
03:34U.S.-brokered talks between Israel and Lebanon have focused on an Israeli withdrawal and the disarmament of Hezbollah, but disagreements
03:42have continued.
03:43Meanwhile, Lebanon is relying on international assistance to help address its medical needs.
03:48Fawaz says China has provided support during previous crises and that another shipment of aid is expected.
03:58There is no doubt that the People's Republic of China has always stood by Lebanon throughout all the crises it
04:04has faced.
04:05China has consistently extended a helping hand to Lebanon, whether through long-term investment projects or emergency aid initiatives.
04:13We recall that during the last war, a plane carrying aid from China arrived.
04:18And now, hopefully, we are awaiting another plane from China to arrive soon.
04:24For Lebanon's health sector, the challenge now extends beyond treating those injured in the conflict.
04:30It also involves restoring hospitals, emergency services and medical infrastructure needed to provide care in communities still affected by the
04:38attacks carried out by Israel.
