00:02President Trump is heading to Gracie Mansion later today for a meeting with New York City Mayor Zoran Mamdani.
00:08And if that sounds like an unlikely invitation, remember these two have gotten along a lot better in private than
00:14their politics might suggest.
00:16This will be their third face-to-face meeting, but their first in New York.
00:20The first was at the White House last November, just after Mamdani was elected.
00:25They met again in February when Mamdani pitched Trump on a massive housing project in Queens.
00:30Mamdani says the two have stayed in touch since then.
00:33The mayor's office isn't saying much about what's on the agenda today, only that they'll discuss issues affecting New Yorkers.
00:40Immigration could come up.
00:42Just last week, Mamdani announced a lawsuit challenging the Trump administration's expansion of its public charge rule, which can make
00:50it harder for some immigrants to get green cards.
00:52And then there's where they're meeting. Presidential visits to Gracie Mansion are pretty rare.
00:59Harry Truman was there in 1949. John F. Kennedy visited in 1962 to speak to a gathering of U.S.
01:06mayors.
01:07And Ronald Reagan went in 1981 presenting Mayor Ed Koch with a giant prop check for a Manhattan infrastructure project.
01:15Trump will be in New York for the U.N. General Assembly and is scheduled to address it tomorrow.
