00:06This afternoon, President Trump and I met at Gracie Mansion to discuss the city we both
00:11are so fortunate to serve, New York City.
00:14Each time the president and I speak, it is about the same topics, how to improve the
00:19lives of New Yorkers and how to use the power of government to take on the cost of living
00:24crisis, to grow our economy, and to build a better, stronger New York.
00:28One of the focuses of the conversation that the president and I have been having is about
00:34the possibility of building more housing here in New York City.
00:37We've spoken about Sunnyside Yard, and it's a real pleasure that just today we've agreed
00:42to set up a new level of that conversation between our housing and operations team at
00:48City Hall and the White House team, because what we're speaking about is 12,000 homes,
00:5330,000 jobs, the prospect of an entire new neighborhood in a city where housing is the
00:58number one cost.
00:59And I appreciate the president, his interest in this, and we also know the president not
01:05just as the leader of the country, but also as someone who has built quite a lot of housing
01:09here in our city.
01:10I don't know, Mr. President.
01:10I know a lot about affordability because I did that housing.
01:13I did many, many low income and moderate income buildings over the years and had great success
01:20with it.
01:21We have really, it was very important.
01:24I would think that Sunnyside would have to have a component, at least a pretty substantial
01:28component of exactly that.
