UN prepares to open 81st General Assembly amid conflicts and AI concerns

The United Nations is preparing to open the 81st session of its General Assembly in New York, where world leaders are expected to discuss conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine, as well as the growing challenges posed by artificial intelligence.

The General Debate will run from September 22 to September 26 and resume on September 28 under the theme, "Restoring trust, managing transformation: a United Nations that delivers for all."

Delegates, journalists and officials arrived at UN headquarters on Monday ahead of the gathering, one of the world's largest annual diplomatic meetings. More than 100 heads of state and government are expected to take part in the high-level discussions.
