01:03that came out of this town.
01:05I got one royalty from Phil Spector.
01:08And it was a check for $350.
01:11He said, next year, let's hope we can do a little better.
01:16And it didn't happen.
01:19It was like he was beating me into submission.
01:23And by then, my career was like, where is it?
01:27She had just disappeared off the face of the earth for years.
01:30This is not an easy business to be in, particularly as a woman and particularly as a black woman.
01:37I mean, she went from the voice on these incredible Spector hits to housework.
01:44I was actually cleaning houses.
01:48I thought I'd be doing no more singing.
01:50And then one day, I hear this song coming down the hallway.
01:53And it was actually Christmas Baby, Please Come Home.
01:56The snow's coming down.
01:58This one.
02:00I'm watching you.
02:01And I saw myself in the mirror.
02:03And I picked my butt up off the ground.
02:06And I never looked back.

02:10You can't stop it all the no's.
02:12You have to read yeses down the road.
02:14I feel in my heart that your time is always going to come.
