00:00It's gloomy in the district.
00:02The weather's gross, just cold and wet.
00:04I'm fighting a cold.
00:06Everybody's down in the dumps about Jaden, right?
00:10Understandably, I hate it for him.
00:13It's also like, to me, number one priority now has to become fixing this.
00:21This is three times in less than a year that the same elbow injury has been an issue.
00:25Right, it's really true.
00:27The second time was just it irritated it again.
00:30But what they need to worry about is this.
00:32If there's a way to make it to where it's more sturdy with a surgery, you can do that.
00:37And that may be later on.
00:38But you've got to find a way.
00:40Listen, Pat Mahomes hated that big brace they had on.
00:44They found him a magnesium light brace that looks very, very small.
00:48If there's some way to get something of that type for Jaden, you go with it.
00:52You know?
00:53And I think, listen, every athlete, I told you when I was in high school,
00:56that first game I came back from my knee.
00:59I broke my kneecap a little early.
01:01They took peace out.
01:02So now I'm in the game and I got this knee brace on.
01:04I could never, ever focus on the football because I was too worried about the knee brace.
01:09And I got to the point where I said, Coach, this has to come off.
01:12He said, if it comes off, you're going to have to have something on it.
01:15So they would tape me with that, you know, that brown stretchy tape?
01:19Yeah.
01:19That stuff they won't tear.
01:20Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:21And they –
01:22Kind of gauzy looking.
01:22Yeah, they come around here, they come around there, and they kept going across it.
01:27And it felt like nothing was there, but you knew it was something stabilizing the knee.
01:33And after, like, three games, I began to wear that, you know.
01:37But I had something on it.
01:38And once I realized that it helped me out, I just went for it.
01:42But he's going to have to realize that there needs to be something there to help protect you,
01:47especially because it seems to be something pops out.
01:50They could do surgery and fix it, but I would still be concerned about that moving forward.
01:55Dude, I think you're right.
01:56I think there is the how do we maintain this once he's back on the field?
02:00Does that mean some type of brace or a wrap, whatever that is, right?
02:04But I think, for me, like, the number one imperative now is to figure out why this keeps happening
02:11and what the fix is.
02:13And that might not mean surgery.
02:14Maybe it means rest significantly and then you have a new plan for it.
02:19Look how long a rest he already had.
02:20I know.
02:21So, listen, like I stated, and I know people don't want to take this, but that's fluky.
02:27When you go down like this, normally you're strong enough to get it.
02:30But I think how he did it here, falling off pace, like when he jerked from under Chris's feet,
02:38that gives you extra momentum and you get it.
02:40And the last time he was thrown, so all that extra momentum.
02:44But I would say a brace is something that can stabilize and absorb some of that.
02:49Like, hell, I went over the handlebars on my bike this year, and everyone talks about it.
02:54I tell people, when you're riding the bike, put a helmet on.
02:56I had on my helmet.
02:58But I went over the handlebars, and when I'm up here holding, I didn't think nothing had hit.
03:04When I saw the helmet, I knew my head hit the ground.
03:08Yeah.
03:08But I did not.
03:09Scratched up, dented.
03:10They build it to collapse.
03:13It absorbs all the force, not your head.
03:16So, if there's something that can absorb the force instead of it going straight to his joints,
03:21you have to do that.
03:22But, you know, because, listen, this kid is too damn good not to find a way to keep him on
03:29a football field.
03:29And he was dialed in the first half of that Cowboys game.
03:32And it's just like, it's just, I don't know what the fix is.
03:37That's why, there's a lot that Dan Quinn said yesterday that was just total coach speak, non-answers.
03:42But the part of it that was real is, dude, we don't know.
03:46He's going to go meet with these specialists, and we'll see what happens.
03:49And I don't know where the specialists are, Little Rock, Chicago, but go meet with all of them.
03:54I'll go as far as to say this.
03:56They may not have a fix.
03:59This is professional football.
04:00That's what I wonder.
04:00Football, listen, man, if you were to go at the beginning of time and find out,
04:07are human bodies supposed to be going through stuff like this?
04:10Probably not.
04:11But you go through it, and you deal with stuff.
04:14And I think sometimes we look at a smaller individual, and we go, oh, he's not built for it.
04:21But big guys get hurt all the time, too.
04:23You know, big guys get a lot of those injuries as well.
04:26So, it's not about your size.
04:28It's about bodies being put in positions or situations that they probably ordinarily shouldn't be going through.
04:35Did you see the Kurt Warner clip where he said, I had this injury and I played the next week?
04:40I didn't see it, but that's what I said yesterday.
04:44Like, this is more people have dislocated different parts of their body.
04:51While I was in the league, before I got to the league, and they'll be playing in a week or
04:56two.
04:56But it's about the pain threshold, which we know he has.
05:02But money has changed sports.
05:05Sure.
05:06The amount of money they pay people, the way that a team puts a guy on a pedestal,
05:10is going to be how quick you get him back on the field.
05:13If it was somebody else in another position, they'd probably have that thing wrapped up,
05:17get him some of that magical medicine that they have in the NFL, and they'd be back on the field.
05:21But as I stated yesterday, this is not necessarily about just getting him back.
05:25It's about trying to get the most out of him.
05:28You know, if you could get him healthier and feeling good, he could do this thing for the next eight
05:33years.
05:34It's way better than another guy that won't be there for the next game.
05:38You get what I'm saying?
05:38Totally.
05:39Yeah, like, the goal now has to become, how do we get it?
05:44So, let's be realistic.
05:46Jaden is going to fall on his left arm playing pro football.
05:50That's just going to happen.
05:51And they have to get to a place where this isn't the result.
05:55You've got to be able to put your left arm down when you need to and not have the elbow
05:59pop out.
06:00You put the brace where the brace is going to have, they have different things they put them on
06:04where they have joints where the brace will take the brunt of it.
06:08But I had a problem where I always fell on my, I don't know, my right or my left elbow,
06:12but I always fell on my elbow and I kept bursting my bursar sack.
06:18I had 10 of them.
06:20So, it got to a point where I had scar tissue that thick and it was pushing against the nerves
06:25where it was excruciating pain.
06:28I eventually just had him take the scar tissue out of it so I wouldn't have to deal with it.
06:32But guess what?
06:33I still fell on that elbow.
06:34So, I found a way to get that little neoprene pad and I put a little, a harder plastic underneath
06:40something soft
06:41where it took the brunt of the pain off.
06:43There's a way to figure it out, you know.
06:46But right now, it's just his arm taking all the pain, all the force.
06:53Brace, like magnesium, potassium, whatever we want to say, you know.
06:58So, they got to find whatever held, whatever they could put on there that's super light, but it's super strong.
07:05And I think there has to be some recognition by him, by the player, I got to wear this no
07:10matter what.
07:11I reckon I don't like it, it's uncomfortable, whatever.
07:14You got to keep it on.
07:15Hey, like I said when this new ownership came in, you know, the adults are running the room.
07:20The adults have to say, listen, man, this is what you have to wear.
07:23Not, oh, you can't ask most athletes, do you want to wear this?
07:28Hell no.
07:29Because the athlete wants to be sleek.
07:31You know, look at football.
07:33I have to look.
07:34Little League, they got on pads all over the place.
07:38Right, right, right, right.
07:38NFL, they don't wear no booty pads, they don't wear no thigh pads.
07:41They don't wear thigh pads, they don't wear hip pads.
07:43They wear the smallest shoulder pads.
07:45Like I saw Diggs.
07:46Diggs' pads look like he has on the shelf.
07:48Shells, right.
07:49You know, they want to be as sleek as possible to try to get the best thing that they get
07:54out of themselves.
07:54So you have to be able to, that's why I say there is enough money in the NFL with the
08:00Washington Commanders where they can go out there and get the sleekest arm brace and it looks like just a
08:07regular pad.
08:08It was interesting, Dan Quinn got asked, I want to say it was Ben Stanig, forgive me if I got
08:12the wrong person, but Quinn got asked yesterday, Quinn did a heck of a job of really trying to say
08:19nothing yesterday.
08:19You could tell he was on his toes and playing defense because he kept saying, yeah, I don't have any
08:24updates, I don't have any updates.
08:26And then I asked him, I was like, listen, Dan, I'm not asking for a medical update.
08:30How concerned are you?
08:31He's like, yeah, I don't have any updates.
08:32Like, that's explicitly not what I asked you.
08:36But I will tell you this is.
08:38He was playing defense.
08:39Like, I get it.
08:40I get where he is positionally.
08:41Coaches are told by, normally, upper management and PR, give this answer.
08:47I understand.
08:49They don't want him, and the thing of it is, by them making a coach have to go in front
08:54of, I think the way you solve that problem, put a doctor, put the trainer in front of the media,
09:00and they can answer the questions, and they can give you one of the most bogus answers, but they can
09:06give you the medical stuff, and you'll think you've got a great answer.
09:08But putting a coach who is caught, he's there to get the guys to play, not to tell you about
09:14all the medical aspect of what's going on with somebody.
09:15Well, it's like, we'll see how the season goes, but as the secondary problems continue to mount, like, Quinn's going
09:22to get asked questions that are probably better directed at Adam Peters.
09:25You know what I mean?
09:25That's just the way this goes.
09:27We don't get public access to Peters.
09:29When they ask questions, like, I've always felt like, if I were a head coach, and they say, so what
09:33do you think about this guy's knee?
09:35He even said, well, you know what, make sure you go ask that medical doctor about the defensive breakups.
09:41Do you remember, yeah, right?
09:42Do you remember years ago, and I'm going way back, Jay Gruden, I wish, gosh, I wish I could remember
09:47the player he said this about.
09:49I feel like if Mitch or Kime or somebody's listening, they'll text me.
09:52Jay Gruden misspoke about a running back's toe injury and said that it was a severed toe.
09:59And we're like, what?
10:00The dude's toe came off?
10:02He's like, huh?
10:02And we're like, coach.
10:03Severed me coming off.
10:04Yeah, dude.
10:05And then later that week, Wiley brought the doctor out to explain it to us.
10:10Now, I'm not suggesting that's going to happen here because they just want to provide as little information as possible.
10:14They're not trying to give you much.
10:15But Quinn did get asked about putting a brace on him.
10:19And he was basically like, you know, I don't really have an answer to that.
10:24Hindsight's always 20-20.
10:25See, see, and the way I look at that is, like, Quinn, that's what he should do because the doctors,
10:32Jaden, the coaches, and the front office got to come up with the same message.
10:36Ask me.
10:38He needs to wear something.
10:39Okay?
10:40And the reason I said it, this is not because I feel everybody has to do the same thing.
10:45Like you said earlier, this is basically the second time that this has happened, and the other time was a
10:51re-aggravation of it.
10:52But I look at it like this.
10:53If it's happening, we need to try to find out the best source of stopping it.
10:58And right now, it doesn't seem like your body is stopping it, so I'm going to put something on it
11:02that's going to help it.
11:04But I know I've got to get something sleek because players want to be sleek.
11:10Certainly.
11:10And Jaden wants to be sleek.
11:12Last night, watching Jackson Dart when he got hit, this dude was up in the air.
11:17I say this.
11:18If his foot was on the ground, he won't play no more this year.
11:22But his foot was up in the air, and he got hit to a point where his knee bent like
11:26this.
11:29But if he had a brace on, and people are like, why he didn't have one?
11:33Most people don't wear a brace until they get injured.
11:35Right.
11:36So he'll probably have a brace on that thing from now on.
11:38What's funny, though, is old linemen, starting like in college, basically every offensive lineman wears a brace on both knees.
11:44And they should because people fall on them.
11:46Well, and they get rolled up all the time.
11:47Yeah, they get rolled up on.
11:48People fall on them.
11:49Hell, I fell into a lot of offensive linemen's legs.
11:52Actually, Twan Russell, I think I broke his leg by blocking somebody and throwing.
11:56That's funny.
11:56I saw Twan's buddy that is my friend's brother-in-law.
12:00I saw him over the weekend.
12:01Get you down.
12:01I saw him over the weekend.
