Wildfire Blazes Across Hillside Near A French Village

There is a particular stillness that can settle over a landscape even as it changes in real time.

The clip, shared by Manon, shows a wildfire burning across a hillside in Correns, in southern France. Flames move through dry vegetation as a thick column of smoke rises above the slope. Aircraft fly low over the fire line and release water in repeated passes, the drops spreading into a wide white plume before disappearing into the smoke.

With the blaze pushing toward the village, the aerial runs read as a measured attempt to slow what is already in motion. The scene closes on the same hillside, still burning, as the aircraft continue working on the edge of the fire.
