00:05manager, and he will be the full-time manager going forward. He has a new three-year deal. I
00:09think they made the right decision. Some Mets fans maybe wanted a bigger name, maybe bring in
00:15Albert Pujols, bring over Carlos Beltran, who is in their front office. To me, this is the
00:20one that made sense. Green is 37 and 38 with this team. That is an accomplishment. Let's not forget
00:27how poorly this team played to play its way out of things, and that was before a big-time
00:32deadline sale in which they had loaded their top four relief pitchers, at least to that
00:37point, plus Clay Holmes, who had been their best starter, plus Tyrone Taylor, who had done
00:42a nice job. They had the biggest sale of basically of any team, and yet they are playing 500 ball
00:48under Green. I think he's been solid strategically. He's been better than that in terms of motivation.
00:53He is a great spokesman for the team. To me, anybody else would have been a gamble, particularly
00:59anyone who did not have major league managing experience, and he did have that in San Diego.
01:04While he had a poor record in San Diego over four years, it was good experience, and that
01:09good experience led him to do an excellent job as interim, and I think it's the right call
01:14that he is now the full-time Mets manager.
