00:00So on Saturday this happened to me and although I managed to finish the game, afterwards my knee
00:04swelled up like this and left me walking like this. So over the next 24 hours this is everything I
00:10ate to give my body what it needs to recover, support the inflammation process and get me
00:14moving again without having to reach for medication. First up, six whole eggs, high quality protein to
00:19support muscle repair. Then I started loading up on polyphenol rich foods, blueberries, extra virgin
00:24olive oil and raw cacao which is packed with flavanols. These plant compounds have antioxidant
00:29and inflammatory reducing properties. Next, smoked salmon packed with omega-3s which are involved in
00:34inflammatory signaling and supporting muscle recovery. Raw cheese gives me calcium to support
00:39bone health and then an orange gives me vitamin C, essential for making collagen. Second meal,
00:43wild caught salmon again with tomatoes. Tomatoes gives me more powerful antioxidants as well as
00:48vitamin C and then one of my favorites for this situation, chicken feet slow cooked for eight
00:52hours in a soup. This gives me collagen from the meat and gelatin from the liquid rich in amino acids
00:56like glycine and proline, the building blocks associated with collagen rich tissues like
01:01tendons, ligaments and cartilage. And I paired that with kiwi for another big hit of vitamin C.
01:05So through food alone, I've covered high quality protein for muscle repair, calcium for bone health,
01:10omega-3s and polyphenols to support the inflammatory response and collagen rich protein plus vitamin C
01:15for my tendons, ligaments and cartilage. Food is medicine.
