00:00Removing a manager or getting a new manager is easier than ever in baseball.
00:05They have fewer decisions than ever to make.
00:07In fact, if you heard Chad Tracy talking about his own father yesterday,
00:11saying about when he was younger and would watch games that his father was managing,
00:15he loved to talk about decision-making with his dad after games.
00:18And said back then, you could have pitcher's face one batter,
00:21and then you're pulling a guy out of the game.
00:23And he said there was so much more and so many more interesting things to talk about.
00:27They don't even have those choices anymore.
00:30There's so many choices they don't even have at their disposal that his own father did not that long ago.
00:34Man, he talked about his dad like it was the old days.
00:37Back then.
00:38I'm like, back then?
00:39It was five minutes ago.
00:42Wow.
00:44But managers have never had fewer things to figure out.
00:47When it comes to lineups, when it comes to bullpens, they have less on their plate than ever.
00:52And so removing them, swapping them out, getting a new one, piece of cake.
00:56You don't have to second-guess hiring a manager.
00:59If he ends up not being good at it, they'll get a new one.
01:02But a front office is different.
01:05A front office still has all of those major responsibilities on their plate to build a team for the now
01:11and for the future.
01:13And I'm just not convinced that these guys currently running it have done that.
01:18Are the answer?
01:18I don't know that they're the answer.
01:20No, it's almost like for Breslow, it's like, here's my insurance plan here.
01:23This is the guy I brought in.
01:24I mean, this is the guy I wanted to manage the team instead of Alex Cora.
01:27And we're going to do this unified moving forward.
01:29So it was like the blending of both.
01:32And it's like, it's why it was done together on the same day.
01:35Could have done it separately.
01:37That is true.
01:38They could have said yesterday, we're making Chad Tracy the manager prior to the playoffs so that he doesn't have
01:43to.
01:44Why'd you have to wrestle Breslow?
01:46Right.
01:46He doesn't have to answer these questions about his job status going into the end of the season or during
01:52a playoff series.
01:53He is the guy.
01:54I can understand that because it was pretty obvious.
01:56It was pretty obvious that he was going to get this job on a full-time basis.

02:01I don't second guess that at all.
02:03But you're right.
02:03You could have waited until a later date in the offseason to work on the Craig Breslow extension.
02:10Not that I think their decision would be all that different because they seem to love the nerd types like

02:17But there's more that came out of that press conference, more that they talked about that I'm interested in getting

02:23Sam Kennedy was the one speaking about Breslow.
02:25Breslow was the one speaking about Tracy.
02:27Kennedy, in fact, spoke about both of these guys.
