00:21Mr. Stafford Styles, thank you so much for having us today.
00:25Now, you've had quite an impressive journey
00:29if you had to identify a highlight of your career thus far.
00:33What would that be?
00:35Oof.
00:36I think the highlight is not knowing what comes next
00:40because every time something happens, I'm just surprised
00:43and I keep asking myself, is this really my life?
00:45So recently, I got the opportunity to style Jamaican legend, Petra,
00:50for the Caribbean Music Awards,
00:52and that just came out of nowhere.
00:54And I was, it took me a moment to really soak in what happened
00:59because, again, that was someone I grew up listening to
01:01and hearing to, to not being in the same space.
01:05And she trusted me and my creative vision and my eyes
01:08to express this huge moment in her career
01:13because she received a Lifetime Achievement Award.
01:14Yes.
01:15So, yeah.
01:16And what was that look like?
01:18Describe it for us.
01:19So, when we met, she said,
01:21Steph, I want something very simple.
01:24I don't want all, I don't want the fuss.
01:26The only thing I want is to look a little sexy,
01:28keep it light so that I can move effortlessly,
01:31and purple for royalty.
01:33And within 24 hours, I came up with her dream dress,
01:37and she was fully satisfied.
01:39And the reviews thus far has been incredible,
01:41so I'm really happy about that.
01:42Congratulations to you.
01:43And, of course, you also dress many of all local artists as well.

01:47Share with us about that.
01:48Yes.
01:49So, during the pandemic, actually, I created a vision board.
01:54And a lot of the artists on the vision board came into fruition.
01:59So, I just started writing,
02:00okay, I want to work with Patrice.
02:02I want to work with Nadia Batson.
02:04I want to work with Nyla.
02:05I want to work with Mikhail Tejia.
02:06Not knowing that I was actively manifesting these things.
02:11Each artist, they bring something special and unique to them.
02:15So, for me, it's always understanding their energy,
02:18their vibe, what they bring,
02:19and then how I can take my vision,
02:22not necessarily putting it onto them,
02:24but guiding them as to where I see it going.
02:29That is where you see Stefan Stiles shine through.
02:31Any small elements that I'm known for,
02:34whether it be layering of accessories,
02:36whether it be my love for bright colors and patterns,
02:39my love for florals and layering,
02:44that's where you see it,
02:45and that's where Stefan Stiles shows up.
02:47And if you could identify one single piece of yours
02:50that was the most pop,
02:53the most challenging to create,
02:54but the most rewarding,
02:55or one standout piece that you had to identify,
02:58what would it be?
03:00I worked with Patrice Rappert on a music video called Success,
03:05and the song and the meaning behind it is so beautiful,
03:10so poetic,
03:11and I had this vision of showcasing what your dreams and success looks like,
03:20and it was an encrustation of just like a thousand pearls on the body.
03:25So it was different sizes,
03:27different tones,
03:27different color shapes,
03:28and everything is hand-stitched,
03:30hand-sewn,
03:31some are glued.
03:32It took nearly over a hundred hours,
03:34and the jacket is absolutely,
03:36insanely heavy.
03:37When she put it on,
03:38she's like,
03:38Safodokosh!
03:39I'm like,
03:40yeah.
03:41Beauty is pain.
03:42Beauty is pain.
03:42As a stylist,
03:44you also construct wardrobes for these celebrities,
03:47things that they can wear,
03:48perhaps interchange,
03:49and tell me about that.
03:50So it goes from your performance piece,
03:53then to your personal styling and everyday styling,
03:55where I'll come in and take a look at your closet.
03:58We will go through just like maybe press looks on it,
04:00the press junket that you'll have to do,
04:02and create custom works of art,
04:05I will still say,
04:06that still represents what you're going for.
04:08So something that leans more business-like,
04:10but then how do we still ensure that the artist is being seen
04:14through that lens as well, too.
04:16So yeah,
04:16so it's a full process.
04:24What I have you styled in today is actually two pieces.
04:26The jacket was featured on Mikael Tejia
04:29for his concert master experience,
04:31and then this is a custom jacket piece that I did
04:34for a soccer artist little bits, right?
04:36It's a bunch of,
04:38the idea is to showcase like a bunch of different wires
04:39and elements that are flowing
04:41and moving throughout the body in a sense.
04:44The jacket is actually a custom,
04:46if you look closely at the material,
04:49it's actually a checkered print
04:52fabric inspired.
04:54And yeah,
04:55like I just wanted to showcase different tones,
04:57different textures on you.
04:59Yeah,
04:59all the silver is popping beautifully.
