Ancient Egyptian archers used more than bows and arrows.

Leather wrist guards helped protect the bow arm from the arrow and the returning bowstring. One surviving example from Gebelein was found tied around the wrist of a soldier.

It is a small piece of military equipment, but it gives us a much better idea of the practical details behind ancient Egyptian archery.

The weapons may get all the attention.

The equipment that kept the soldier using them is just as interesting.
