00:07proposed mass transit system will contribute to economic growth and development across the region.
00:14Earlier this year, all five West Yorkshire local authorities launched a consultation on the plan which is set to ensure
00:20that there will be a coordinated approach to land use, growth, regeneration and transport decisions across local boundaries.
00:28Feedback from that consultation helped inform the draft spatial development framework known as SDF, which is intended to support the
00:35delivery of current and future phases of the mass transit programme.
00:39The current consultation is seeking representations on whether the draft SDF is legally compliant and sound.
00:46Mass transit has the potential to accelerate economic and housing growth, tackle congestion and unreliable journeys and boost access to
00:54jobs and opportunities while reducing carbon emissions and improving air quality.
00:58The SDF envisions focusing new development around mass transit stops and hubs to make the most of these benefits, supporting
01:06new homes, jobs and services within easy walking distance.
01:09This approach will add to individual councils' local plans through more coordinated developments, seizing opportunities and better social, economic and
01:17environmental outcomes.
01:18The latest consultation is not asking for feedback on routes, route alignment or things like depots and park and ride
01:25sites at this time, and it runs until Sunday 27th September.
