Some of the most striking moments underwater happen at a pace people rarely get to see.
The clip, shared by Ryan, shows a time-lapse of a carpet anemone being fed silversides. In the sped-up sequence, pieces of fish are placed near the anemone as its tentacles shift and fold inward, gradually drawing the food toward its center until it disappears from view.
Compressed into a short span, the time-lapse turns a routine feeding into a clear look at how efficiently the anemone gathers its meal. The video was recorded in San Diego, United States.
