00:02I mean, so they deferred to the international team.
00:06They sent out Minwoo Lee and Sungjae Im.
00:10So where my mind goes in this is that, okay, Minwoo Lee is an energy ball.
00:16Like this is guy, he's got speed.
00:17He's a great course fit for this place.
00:20You know, if there was a stroke play tournament,
00:22you would have to consider Minwoo Lee as a strong player for this course
00:26due to the length.
00:27But also just Minwoo's, I think, power to get through some of this rough
00:32is important.
00:33But I want to go back to Royal Montreal.
00:35And Minwoo Lee is a guy we kind of talked about as a potential rising star,
00:40the type of star that you would need to help an international team
00:43get young guys in more depth.
00:45And Minwoo Lee got sent out twice.
00:48He only played two rounds.
00:49And I found that to be just very, very shocking.
00:52That golf course at Royal Montreal was a little Parkland golf course,
00:56a little bit straighter right in front of you.
00:58This place, much more of a bomb and gouge.
01:01And there's some strategy elements, too, off of the tee.
01:04But I definitely think if you're a long player, you have an advantage.
01:07So Minwoo Lee getting sent out first, I think that's something that they
01:10obviously see in their data and their stats to show that Min's a good course
01:15fit.
01:15And then Sungjae is just a nice, like, even-kill partner who makes a lot of
01:19birdies.
01:19His birdie average, since he's been on the PGA Tour, has always been high.
01:22And I think that the international team is excited that they sent out Scottie
01:28Sheffler and Sam Burns first.
01:29Because I think that pairing of Minwoo Lee and Sungjae M, although it looks like
01:35who on paper is going to beat Scottie Sheffler and Sam Burns?
01:38And the answer might be nobody.
01:39But I do like this team for the international side to give them a match.
01:44Do you want to talk here about some stats for Scottie Sheffler in team competitions?
01:48So I'm just going to read you a few here.
01:51In the President's Cup, Scottie Sheffler is 3-5-1 overall.
01:56He's 2-0-1 in the four-ball format, which we will see tomorrow.
02:00He is 1-3-0 in the foursomes format, which we'll see on Friday.
02:04And he's 0-2-0 in singles.
02:06And then when you combine that with this Ryder Cup, so Ryder Cup, I'll give you each
02:11of the stats and I'll combine them for you.
02:12So 3-6-3 overall in the Ryder Cup, 1-2-2 in four-ball, 0-4-0 in foursomes,
02:182-0-1 in singles.
02:19That's a combined record in team competitions for the USA of 6-11-4, 3-2-3 in four-ball,
02:261-7-0 in foursomes, and 2-2-1 in singles.
02:30So I know we're talking about four-ball right now.
02:32When we see what they end up doing with Scottie tomorrow, assuming he's going to go out,
02:37do you think he'll be a five-session player?
02:40I mean, I think it would be nice for, because playing fives, it's a lot.
02:47It's a lot.
02:47Now, I think it all just kind of depends on where the team sits.
02:51You know, if the United States is in a comfortable spot, you would have to think that it sure
02:55would be nice to sit Scottie Sheffer on Saturday afternoon to know that you're going to send
02:59him out first on Sunday.
03:00And I think that all kind of is just based off how the tournament's going or the competition.
03:05Saturday afternoon, that's the foursome session that he struggles in, at least statistically.
03:09Yeah, that's right.
03:10So I would say that, you know, it'd be nice if he could play four.
03:14I think the U.S. is definitely more in a position to have some guys rest.
03:19And I think Scottie Sheffer would probably love to just play four, but he's a guy that's
03:24like, if you need me to play five, got you.
03:26I'll play five.
03:27What do you make of those stats, though?
03:28I mean, is it, you know, I think the foursomes one in particular is interesting because we've
03:33talked a lot about finding him the right partner.
03:36And, you know, it was Sam Burns.
03:38Initially, those two guys wanted to play together because they are close friends.
03:40And, you know, we talked about this in sort of the pre-show.
03:45Sam Burns really kind of pulled a lot of the way to Quail Hollow.
03:47He did.
03:48And then you're talking about, I don't have the stats in front of me for Rome, but then
03:52you have Russell Henley come in in Montreal and prove to be a good partner for Scottie
03:56Sheffler there.
03:57But then Russell Henley and Bethpage Black, you know, that was a little bit of a struggle
04:01for those two.
04:01So you just kind of wonder, going back to Sam Burns here, is finding a partner for the
04:07number one player in the world hard because of the pressure maybe it places on the second
04:11guy?
04:12Or in the case of Sam Burns in this competition, at least, you know, he gets outplayed by the
04:16guys playing with.
04:17It's a combination of both.
04:18I think Scottie would point to some of these events where he hasn't played his best.
04:22I think he'd probably start there.
04:23He's been pretty good in singles in the Ryder Cup.
04:26This, obviously, not quite as good in the President's Cup, but they've been in pretty
04:30good positions going into Sundays for the most part.
04:32And the boards look good for the USA.
04:34So, you know, it kind of might change your motivation if it feels like, ah, I don't really
04:37have to win.
04:38Now, we know that's not how Scottie Sheffler's wired.
