The BR Standard 8P Class Pacific No. 71000 “Duke of Gloucester” locomotive visited Cornwall in September as part of the four-day Cornish Riviera 2026 railtour operated by the Steam Dreams Rail Company. The locomotive made her highly anticipated journey down to Cornwall on Tuesday (September 22) and returned her passengers east of the Tamar on Friday (September 25). The engine has been restored to her full BR Brunswick Green livery, to look just as she would have done when first built at Crewe in 1954. She was designed to work the heavy express trains between Euston and Scotland, but was the only one of the class ever to be built.
