00:07summer for butterflies in Yorkshire. Across the four counties, 8,309 people took part,
00:15spotting 118,330 butterflies and moths during the three weeks of the count.
00:23The most spotted butterfly in the county was the small white, also known as the cabbage white,
00:28due to their caterpillar's taste for cabbages. The large white took the second spot,
00:34with the red admiral following in third. Citizen scientists in Yorkshire spotted almost 10,700
00:41painted ladies in this year's count.
