00:31to be and that's a good way to couch it they look to be unprepared they're not ready to play

00:37they probably just had a bad game they've probably just had a couple of bad games
00:42i've got so i did a um a early a bet like preseason bet on division winners i picked all

00:51winners i've got the chargers at plus 190 to win the west and i am i'm not rooting for them

00:59my bet but i'm rooting for them to not be poorly coached that's why i made the bet i made

01:36the fact that jim harbaugh is a good coach and a team under jim harbaugh is going to be prepared
01:40so at two and oh and i i said this right after you left him and i haven't said a

01:54know might not be the best oh and two teams that might not be the worst and while it is

02:01practice to refer to week one after week one of the nfl as overreaction week i think week after week
02:08two is even more so that because we all know that we're going to step in it if we try

02:14world based on one game but if you think something and then you see it in week one you're like

02:19hold off and then you see it again in week two it's like yep it's fact it's true i think

02:23overreacting as a society more right now than we were a week ago and for that reason i just want

02:31say i think the bills are going to step on the chargers too don't don't get me wrong but slow

02:37on that team's dead because they're oh and two and this team's great because they're two and oh that's all
02:41the chargers have lost each of their first two games by an identical score of 26 to 14 the first
02:47one to the arizona cardinals which i think at the beginning of the season you'd say what are the
02:51worst five teams in the nfl arizona's definitely in there maybe even worse three then they repeated
02:58a week later both of these are at home by the way both of these are at sofi stadium then
03:03they lose
03:03the las vegas raiders another team that would be in the conversation of one of the five worst teams
03:08in the nfl and didn't really look competitive in either game the raiders just boat raced them
03:15and now they start a stretch of three of their next four on the road and their one home game

03:21going to be against denver they're at buffalo at seattle home against denver at kansas city
03:27before the chargers reach their bye week and then they they emerge from their bye week
03:33at the rams houston texans at home at baltimore i feel the chiefs coming here too before
03:41they get to week 11 in the new york jets and by then who knows what the jets are going
03:46to be maybe
03:47they'll be at least mediocre and that's probably not going to be an easy out well i don't want to
03:53say probably but there's a chance that the jets aren't as laughable as they would be six months ago
03:58they may have a semblance of something going on i heard jeremy refer to them as a tough out and

04:03think that's probably about where they live this year um you know i don't expect them to challenge
04:08for the division um i'm i'm curious if they can challenge for second place chargers might not
04:13have a winning record no i know when you take a look at their schedule once you just read that
04:17out loud i started thinking about that thing where they let you buy out of a bet now it's only
04:22ten dollars
04:23i'm not going to take three dollars right now on that to throw away a chance at four grand
04:28but um they seem to be the fly in the ointment on this thing my one big reach was the
04:33saints and i
04:33feel great about that two weeks in um i just i refuse to believe that the chargers are going to
04:40just
04:40be a non-factor this year that you can look at them the way that you would look at the
04:45dolphins coming
04:46in right now well they we've talked about the trap game and there's all kinds of feels super trappy
04:50that's that's i think where feathers in the trap game nest because it's not just the opponent
04:55oh and two versus the home team two and oh the juggernaut offense versus the team that's not only
05:01really injured but also looking kind of incompetent and a little lost through two weeks right you have
05:07the bills with their extra rest you have
05:14the chargers and interior injuries against a defensive front that has just been wrecking games
05:22whether it's greg rousseau or deon walker or whoever you want to mention michael hoyt going
05:29up against the chargers this week you know he's he's coming into it maybe coming back from the achilles
05:34he's going to be eager to get a little bit more on the score sheet like some of the other
05:38pass rushers
05:39have been but there are so many things that you wonder seven and a half points did i mention that
05:50at least for the record i just want to say that the chargers are seven and a half point underdogs
05:56is it yesterday that we looked at it and it was seven so it's moved since then or within the
05:59last
06:00two days we've talked about this there was a place that had seven and a half and now it's getting
06:04to
06:04seven and a half at most places yeah so yeah i think that this looks like a potential trap game
06:10and then you have who the next opponents are for the bills also we just talked about all the tough
06:14ones coming up for for the chargers the bills have some tough ones too so you think meh is this
06:19the
06:19game that they look past the chargers because they have the patriots at home next week and then that
06:25long west coast trip in which they're staying out west in between the rams and the raiders games that are
06:32going to be on the road and then you have a buy a buy yeah so are the bills like
06:37oh man if we could
06:38just you know let's just take we're almost we're almost at the halfway point we're looking good
06:42that's where it gets dangerous that's a sports psychology equation though that really doesn't
06:47factor in spreads you know it's a thing that we talk about and then if things happen after the fact
06:53we can look back and say well maybe they did take that opponent lightly but that's how you find
06:58a number you like is by thinking of the you've got to find something that's not factored into the
07:03spread in order to have an argument to make against the spread but everybody's still betting on the
07:08bills because the spread keeps getting fatter and fatter that's right this opened up way back in the
07:13day when the schedules were released this game opened with the chargers as a two or two and a half
07:18point underdog the the home field field goal juice right and because that's how good the chargers
07:25were viewed to be with mike mcdaniel coming in the excitement there the injection that he was going
07:30to give the offense the creativity unlock justin herbert and there was excitement around the
07:37chargers playoff team the whole thing building on harbaugh harbaugh has as you mentioned he love him
07:44or hate him he does have a track record for success but to go from two and a half to
07:51seven and a half
07:52based on what we've seen for two games and the injury report the injury report plays in that too
07:57not as much as a lot of people think though a lot of people look at the injury report as
08:01affecting the spread yeah if it's the quarterback or a devastatingly amazing player miles garrett
08:10jerry rice or yes a miles garrett you know those types um but yeah ed oliver
08:17coming down with a hip injury right before kickoff isn't going to move the line as much as
08:23uh ed oliver is important to the bills defense it just doesn't even if deon dawkins were to be out
08:29for a game that's not half a point it's it's just not james cook even being lost to the bills
08:35would not even be worth half a point james cook being lost to the bills only counts for half a
08:40point
08:40if the world recognizes it as a problem and starts betting in that direction and then it moves it but
08:46it's not going to move it on its own or if you're setting a line vegas is this not going
08:50to set its
08:50line based on an injury report that doesn't include anything but a crucially pivotal game-changing
08:58player bills have one of those yes josh allen well the quarterback period because even a bad quarterback
09:04being hurt because the next quarterback in is going to be even worse the quarterback's just that
09:09important so the quarter quarterback period geno smith being hurt is going to affect the line
09:14more than greg rousseau being hurt right or even deon dawkins or name any other important non-quarterback
09:23player so but anyways justin herbert's not hurt no and the spread is still gone from two to
09:30seven and a half do you trust that do you trust i mean the money moving is a public thing

09:40the line once and then it adapts to what's right the public is doing and the public now that when
09:46the public starts screaming something i typically find holes in it the book can make a big change
09:52because they want to anticipate they want to get ahead of it so yeah if if the injury is big

11:19overwhelming sentiment and to a certain extent overreaction to two weeks of football i started
11:26the show by saying we are going to we as a society are going to overreact more this week than
11:32we did
11:33last week because we knew about it last week we know it's like a it's like a glitch we're aware

11:42so we underreact during overreaction week but then two weeks in it's like oh now we've got all the
11:48information we need about an 18 week 17 game season everything we've been talking about to
11:54last night's game perfect the falcons basically have no business beating the packers opening night
12:04at lambeau packers have won 13 straight home games all that stuff they're a much better team
12:10the falcons have looked lost but michael pennix is coming back and he hasn't played yet this year
12:18michael pennix being announced the starter moved the line two and a half points
12:25the packers were seven point favorites to beat the falcons on sunday when those lines came out and
12:32the massage lines and then by the end of the week uh by wednesday the line settled at about four
12:39and a
12:39half wednesday thursday it started to drop so by thursday it was down to four and a half
12:46and then the falcons go out and beat the packers last night 35 to 14
12:52now you wouldn't expect michael pennix to do that you know you'd even say first game rust all this other
12:58stuff but that game wasn't even in question bijon robinson did pretty much whatever he wanted
13:05pennix in some ways you would think well he's not even need to be involved because if you're going
13:11to get 194 rushing yards out of bijon robinson and another 20 yards catching the ball you probably
13:20don't even need to throw the ball but michael pennix throws for 256 yards last night almost all
13:26of them to drake london 194 for him so he and bijon robinson matched each other rushing and that's
13:31got to be a scorigami right has any team has any football game ever ended with the leading rusher
13:37and receiver on the winning team having exactly 194 yards before i bet no probably i don't know how
13:43to look it up probably i don't know how to look it up but that seems unique uh but yeah
13:47and it wasn't
13:48even close no the packers had no shot in that game well i did i would say into the second
13:53quarter it was
13:54close but 17 7 at the half 17 to 7 but the falcons had already looked pretty good they blocked
14:02a field
14:02goal they score late it was a dagger type touchdown or at least it felt like it and then they
14:07come out
14:08and they score the next two touchdowns or the next 10 points too to take a 27 7 lead earlier
14:12in the fourth
14:13so anyways it's just uh everything that we were talking about applies in that seven point
14:21underdog goes into lambo and made it look easy now granted the chargers have their quarterback and
14:30they've looked awful with their quarterback they're not getting an elevated guy or a dude coming off
14:35injury like the falcons no new injection of flavor yeah they got an infusion of a start a starting nfo
14:42quarterback or at least a cat they he was what they consider us well right he looked good last night
14:47real good and uh he wasn't cooper rush so you're saying that because of the mac you're making fun
14:56of the mac right now where did he play i'm like central central michigan was it i gotta look it

15:02think it's i love the mac i just like bringing up the mac because it's convenient sometimes to make a
15:07point they're right in our backyard they were always in my backyard kent state akron toledo all these
15:14schools that i watched more i watched big the mid-american conference more than i watched the
15:18big tent because i knew guys who went to those schools and played sure or i played against them
15:23i didn't i didn't play against guys i played against one guy who i think went d1 who's that
15:28oj mcduffie oh nice and uh he went to penn state and then goes in place for the miami dolphins
15:34and he was
15:35an amazing running back um and and a high jumper i competed against him in the high jump too how'd
15:44that go not great yeah not great it was my senior year and i had trouble getting out of uh
15:52regionals
15:52district in the county meet the district meet i've no trouble you get to the regional meet and it was
16:01going to be tough and regional is the step before state and i was a fringe state guy
16:08and one year everybody's heard about it coming up because he was a four sport player where he went to
16:14school gate mills gates mills hawkins is he they allowed him to play baseball and run track because
16:20he was so good right and they were in the baseball tournament and so he's playing in the tournament
16:28somewhere else way else and still in ohio but not but not where the regional track meet is right
16:37and the the high jump is the same day as this game and he might not be able to make
16:41it and so we are
16:43jumping and we've started and oj mcduffie hasn't shown up yet and i'm thinking i'm one step closer to
16:48state to getting smoked at state but you get to go i would have but i it's the horseshoe it's
16:55the
16:55whole thing you the state track meet is in the horseshoe that's where jesse owens ran and edwin
16:59moses and i mean that was a historic place that track and um he showed up didn't he showed up

17:09you can i guess you can see where the story's going i wouldn't tell it and he gets off the

17:13and i might be inventing some facts just to make it more dramatic and yeah but i'm pretty sure he

17:32on the i don't know but in my mind it was like here he comes and he you can't take

17:37started already he's not allowed warm-ups he can't like hey lower the bar you get some free jumps the
17:42competition's going on you showed up late that's the price you got to pay and he knocked out two jumps
17:48and put his sweats back on and then walked back to the bus or back for the second half of

17:52and we're all and we're all just standing there with our hands on our hips and we're like well
17:56it was fun boys gets on a helicopter flies out back to baseball time to play shortstop speaking of
18:02high jump real quick just out of nowhere i was researching i think maybe because i'm going back
18:08to vegas here and i was like who is the best high school athlete i covered because i covered high
18:12school sports when i was at las vegas and then i got down this mental rabbit hole of who are
18:16the
18:16greatest athletes to ever get greg maddox is one but i kind of lost track over time as vegas has
18:22gotten bigger and there's way more high schools and it's become kind of a high school sports mecca
18:27that it really wasn't back in the 90s but you'd have families come through from nellis air force base
18:32and you get the occasional like super greg maddox bryce harper and there are guys but then there's
18:37probably even a younger generation that's really you know that i just i'm not aware of
18:43so i'm googling best high school athletes to ever come out of las vegas randall cunningham
18:49jr or randall cunningham the second he calls himself you can't really be unless there's a third
18:54just a little it's it's senior junior you can't be the second until there's a third
19:00all right did you know that i did not and then usually the third is trey you know there's probably
19:05there's probably a trey griffey out there uh anyways um randall cunningham's son as a sophomore
19:12in high school was high jumping seven two that sounds like a lot is that a lot yes he was
19:20he was
19:20a great quarterback at bishop gorman high out there but he decided he was so good at that that he
19:24went
19:24to usc to run track probably just to be different than his dad too but as a so as a
19:2914 year old he was
19:32jumping olympic qualifying potentially olympic qualifying in the high jump anyways i'm trying
19:40to find out if there's a trey uh trey griffey didn't work did you know that in january 1988 ken
19:50griffey jr attempted suicide by swallowing 277 aspirin pills what he cited arguments with his father
19:58depression and anger as reasons for his attempted suicide that's before the card came out january

25:41get that but no coffee and pizza or coffee and anything really salty all right yeah i get it
25:45the caramel salted caramel and all that stuff i get it and i've done oh i've done it and i

25:51yeah i like it but let's okay let's tap the brakes all right my point is that they brought two

25:59one of them was uh stuffed hot pepper great the other one was big mac big mac pizza there were

26:07on it and stuff i i had it smells amazing it smelled great i had the stuffed hot pepper i
26:11wonder though
26:11that they probably can't call it that that's probably right for trademarking i mean i'm sure
26:18mcdonald's would not like that but we can call it a big mac pizza and yeah it had pickles on
26:25it and
26:26some thousand island smells to it yeah it was all going on yeah i and i will have it and

26:33after my coffee it was consumed quickly um i was let's say seventh in line when the pizza showed up
26:40there two pizzas and open up the hot pepper one stuffed hot pepper completely intact open up a big
26:47mac one five pieces gone six pieces gone everyone chose big mac except me and i heard it was great
26:54and joe dibiase had both and he said big mac was better all from joey's pizza on a pizza friday
