00:00And precisely to go over more details on the morning speeches at this fourth day of the U.N. General
00:06Debate, let's go live to New York City with our colleague, Jorge Gestoso. Welcome, Jorge. Once more today, two from
00:12the south. What can you tell us?
00:15Well, Luis, it was this morning that three members of this day, the fourth of the general debate, were expressing
00:24their views regarding their situation.
00:27One of them was the Maldives Island, which put emphasis in the fact that the threats and the climate change
00:36and also security or insecurity or wars are flowing, let's say, throughout the seas, throughout the earth, throughout the different
00:47continents.
00:48So therefore, it becomes a general question, a general problem, not only isolated problem that they are living.
00:56Also, was Iraq present this morning here at the National Assembly and they put a special emphasis in the end
01:07of the war.
01:08They say that there has been devastating the effects of the war and they are aiming to have very quickly
01:16the resolution of the conflict.
01:18And also, we saw Lebanon that were also participating in the morning session and they were asking, especially Israel, to
01:28get out of their territory.
01:31Three countries of the Caribbean are going to be participating throughout the day.
01:36We're talking about Haiti. Haiti is very much concerned about their security, elections and also financing.
01:43Same thing, St. Vincent and the Grenadines explaining climate change and the impact that they have in their country.
01:53And also, St. Cristobal and Neves are going to put emphasis also in the fact that they need to have
02:00attention to that part of the world.
02:03They say the isolated islands being practically forgotten in the international community to financing that are really living in poverty
02:13because of the impacts of climate change.
02:16So that's basically what we have been witnessing and we anticipate that it's going to be the rest of the
02:22day.
02:22At the same time, at this very moment, it's going on a high-level conference that is going to be
02:31the second time since 2023, talking about prevention, talking about preparedness and talking about answers of pandemics around the world.
02:43It did happen that COVID-19 found the world not necessarily organized well precisely in this new high-level conference.
02:54They're trying to put together a common plan of action.
02:58And that conference is taking place started at 10, 10 local time here in New York City, and it's going
03:05to be extended at least until 6 p.m.
03:08We get back to you now.
03:10Thank you, Jorge, for the information regarding how this fourth day of the general debate is ongoing.
