01:01at number one so what a lot of people don't know Mauritian food a lot of it's naturally plant-based
01:07such as dalpuri roti even gato pima a lot of the street food is naturally vegan and it's very easy
01:14to get plant-based food here we also have vegan beer cheers exactly Mauritius's vegetarian food
01:23is saved by history religion and necessity so we're starting here in Mayburg and I'm taking to this
01:30lovely little spot called cafe de fleur okay it's a really instagramable spot you're gonna love it
01:34you'll be surprised the amount of vegan foods you can get here so cheers to hazelnut latte with almond
01:42wow so we've just got our tofu rice bowl which comes with a fragrant fluffy rice so absolutely
01:49gorgeous and we've got some sauteed tofu as well with green beans red peppers and a nice little
01:56garden salad on the side the sweet mustard dressing can't wait to begin so some panini fresh pesto
02:02also some tofu and seasonal vegetables tofu is culturally significant across the island
02:10and found in most restaurants so tofu is actually soybean curd they get it from when they make soy
02:16milk they scrape the curd up the top and they make it into blocks like this and it's full of
02:21protein
02:23and delicious and at number two our vegan delights are next level so now we're on our way to market

02:33some plant-based ice creams well a lot of people usually ask what's the difference between vegetarians
02:37and vegans while vegetarians some eat eggs and dairy whereas vegans exclude meat dairy eggs and honey
02:44from the diet as well as any products made from animals
02:54if this is vegan we've all been lied to this is where skeptics become believers
03:01and to get the texture as if it was like a creamy gelato based on milk we have vegetable fibers
