00:06And now we continue with more information about the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly.
00:11At this hour, the Foreign Ministry of Nicaragua is addressing the general debate.
00:17Peace that we think is possible in our country and throughout the world,
00:20where the human family can opt for the urgent need to live in harmony in all possible ways.
00:29This is critical to address poverty and to live in dignity, freedom and fraternity.
00:35We bring to this forum of all peoples and states of the world the legitimate aspiration of families from the
00:46entire world,
00:46and in particular in Nicaragua, to live peacefully and safely,
00:51to strengthen the work that will allow all of us to establish better societies,
00:57to defeat extreme poverty, to live in harmony and in complementarity,
01:03which is so critical to allow all societies to progress,
01:07and so that also we can care for and increase our resources and natural riches,
01:15which will be of benefit to everyone.
01:19The conflicts assailing the world are, as we know, the enemy of the wellbeing to which we are all entitled.
01:29In the words of our Ruben Dario,
01:32we are in favour of peace, peace, peace, to make headway on the goals laid out,
01:38and in particular by this organisation which gathers us together.
01:42We need to defeat extreme poverty,
01:45and we also need to achieve wellbeing for all to bring about a better world,
01:50which is so urgent a task.
01:54The scourges of our time are the greatest threat and greatest danger to our societies,
02:03because they deprive us of our heritage,
02:06and we see major crimes linked to drug trafficking and organised crime,
02:12which are forms of terrorism, which assail us and make us sick.
02:18Against this intimidating backdrop, our purpose, our vote, our commitment has been and remains clear,
02:24and we aspire to gather with more peoples around the urgent need to curb these afflictions,
02:35and to bring about safety, and to provide education, food, health, peace and development for all.
02:41We would like warmly to greet all delegations who are present here,
02:46and we hope that you will join our commitment to address these challenges,
02:53and to alleviate the suffering that we have mentioned.
02:59There are many proposals that we have mentioned,
03:01and we wish to stress the strength that the BRICS countries, for instance, have shown,
03:12in striving for better living conditions for their people,
03:16and the right of all to achieve sustainable development in a complementary way.
03:21We would like to recognise and pay tribute to all brothers and sisters throughout the world,
03:27who believe in ideals, principles and values that are valuable to us all as humanity,
03:33to continue moving towards achieving the most important significant battle,
03:41which is to achieve peace, so that we can defeat poverty once and for all.
03:48It is in this battle that we all have to wage to achieve peace.
03:53In this context, we wish to express our unwavering solidarity with the heroic people of Cuba,
03:59and we also recognise the principles and values expressed by the people and government of the People's Republic of China,
04:07in particular, the one China principle, which is non-negotiable.
04:13We also fully share the struggle against fascism and the right to peace waged by the Russian Federation.
04:23Distinguished delegates, I wish to express to you all in this forum the commitment for us all to live together
04:33in a fraternal and solidarity-based way,
04:36to achieve dignity and shared responsibility for all. Thank you very much.
